We were hoping to be the flag family in August but we are only spending 2 nights at WL. The 7 nights prior to that we will be at CBR. Can I call from CBR and check about it or do I have to wait until we check in to WL?

Flag family:
Ask about becoming a Flag family. Each morning a family is selected to go on the Lodge roof to help raise the flag! This is a wonderful and very popular treat, that can only be requested at check-in, prior reservations are not possible.

We did this in 2008. It was absolutely the best highlight from our trip. The view is just amazing from up there.

When in August are you going? We will be there the first two weeks. I could try to sign up for the days you will be there and you could join us, I think.

Awww,thanks for the offer but we are looking to do it the 27th. I was hoping since we would be on property at CBR maybe we could call from there and check availability.

britfish-you never know until you check-in, if the flag family for the day will be available for the 2 days that you are there. Chin up!

It varies I think. I know last year the Christmas decorations were up until Marathon weekend. In the past they were taken down right after New Year's. If I had to make a guess, it won't be any later than Marathon Weekend.

i have read a lot of threads on the WL and VWL -- we are trying to decide for our december visit on our resort. I like the amenities in the studio, but the rooms themselves seem nicer and more updated at the lodge itself and being closer to restaurants, etc. Does anyone have any thoughts/opinions on this? thanks so much! you all are great!!!

WL vs VWL

340 sqft vs 356 sqft

2 queen beds vs 1 queen bed/sofa bed

no microwave vs microwave



Those seem to be the major difference between the two rooms. I debated the question myself and decided my boys would rather sleep in a real bed then the sofa bed. And I'm not sure if I really need to have the microwave for the price difference.

How many in your party? If it is just the two of you, then the studio will be have a better layout, feeling of roominess for you. The distance between the villas to the lodge really isn't that far to use the amenities.

Got my prescriptions refilled, starting to pack the bags, all the little things are already in there (like the moleskin patches, sandals, socks, sunscreen, caps, etc.).

Kennel appointment has been made, mail has been scheduled to stop, towncar has been double-checked, IPO doubled-checked, ADR's doubled-checked, flights doubled-checked,hmmm...I think we're getting there.

We got a pin code for 40% and booked a standard view room. We are completely satisfied with this as we will not be spending alot of time in the room, so view is not a concern. However, I have been reading alot of negatives about the noise coming from the service area. I will not be able to tolerate BEEP BEEP BEEP for 8 nights!! So, should we get our travel agent to call about an upgrade (paid of course) or should we wait until we get down there to ask about an upgrade (again, we would pay for it). Or, should we just request a high standard view floor and hope for the best? I really want to enjoy our first deluxe experience. We leave in 7 days and we are totally excited but a little concerned we will end up hating WL if we have to suffer noise every morning! So, anyone have any advise or words of wisdom short of packing ear plugs? Thanks!

Well, my dh finally said it last night, he doesn't want to pay for the upgrade either! So, we will just request high floor and see what happens! WL in itself is really an upgrade for us anyway since we have only stayed at values or offsite, so I am just gonna be happy with that. I will let you know what we got and how it was when we return!!

You never know!

Put in a request for HIGH FLOOR, NORTH SIDE.
Or say nothing and then maybe you'll get an upgrade.
I usually get the upgrades whenever I don't make a request. JMHO.
