Brandi, I am so very sorry to hear your news. I can only imagine the devastation he felt upon learning the news.

David is an awesome man and I know he will land on his feet. :thumbsup2

Please know that we are here for you and David. You 2 will make it through this tough time and be able to look back in retrospect and say "it turned out to be a blessing" -- for something bigger and better is out there for your beloved husband. pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:

I need to get something of my chest and this seems like the perfect place to do it, if you don't agree please just ignore my posts...

I found out last week while I was away on travel that my DH David was being laid off from his job. He has worked for this company for 19 years. The only job he has had beside being in the Army.

He is a disabled veteran who fought in two different wars and this is how he is treated by the company he has stood by for 19 years.

I am heartsick, and he is heart broken. He has done so much for the people who work for him, stood up for them when the company wanted them fired, he has gone before the customer to plead people's cases for them, he has given way too much of his time to fix all the problems and create a well functioning team. He has taken pressure off his boss above him by doing more than is required for his position and the guy just told him "hey we can't keep you on, you are gone by the end of the month". That was it, no explanation, nothing... just we got to let you go.

I think my David deserves more than that.

Am I being biased b/c he is my DH, or do companies these days just not care about people anymore?

David is just so upset right now, he has made himself sick. He can't eat, he can't sleep. He mind can not stop thinking of all the wrongs.

anyway, thanks for letting me spill the beans here...

OH Brandi, I'm SO sorry to hear this news!!! David is one heck of a guy, he DEFINATELY deserves better than this - it's the company's loss!!! Please know that both of you are in my thoughts and prayers and we're all here for both of you. I know he'll come out on top of all of this and will be just fine!! And I agree, some things ARE a blessing in disguise, and maybe this IS the right time for him to think about heading to Texas. Hugs to both of you, if you need to talk, you can text me anytime!!!

Good Morning! Last night we had leftovers. I attended a Starbucks tasting at the library so buddy rummaged around in the fridge. I had some when I got home.

Today Kady and I are skipping school for the Science Museum. There is a new dinosaur exhibit there. She cannot stand crowds so we cannot go on a Saturday. I also want to take her to B&N. She is studying human rights in school and must write about either slavery or women's rights. She chose slavery and got her book from the library last night. She has expressed interest in learning about the Holocaust recently so to help her understand how human rights are all intertwined I want to get The Diary of Ann Frank for her. I read it at her age.

We have a wedding tomorrow night and I have not bought a dress so dinner depends on whether or not I am shopping and getting a pedicure. ;)

Good morning girls,

This has been the first chance I have had to get in here and chat with all of you.

I am almost all caught up here at work. Sometimes I wonder if it is worth being gone for all of the work you have to do when you get back. But Doug and I had such a good time that yes it was worth it!!

Brandi ~ I am so sorry for the way they have treated David. That is just so wrong on all sides. I remember once long ago when Sally Jessi Raphel was on TV. She made the comment that in her working days she had been fired all the way to the top. I have never forgotten that - Change is hard but all change is NOT bad. Ya know what I mean? Good luck to you both in your decisions.

Glynis ~ So glad to hear your Dad is doing so much better

Nan ~ I would love your salmon pie recipe. That sounds amazing.
You had me chuckling :rotfl2: with Buddy's hair story. We (and your DH) are so alike. Oh the stories I could tell on Doug!!
My prayers are with you all in your greiving process. I hope Buddy starts to feel better.

Alison ~ Maybe the next application will be the one.
How is Fran feeling? I was so sorry to hear you had to cancel your vacation again.

Jen ~ Are you feeling better? How many days left till school is out. Ethan gets out on May 24.

Lindsay ~ Have you posted your spaghetti sauce recipe? If not I would love it.

Kimmar ~ Are you just loving your new kitchen? I am so jealous. But if Doug ever gets our bedroom finished I am NOT letting him touch the kitchen and I can't afford (at least until I get Matthew out of College) a complete remodle.

If I could ask for a few prayers I would really appreciate it -

Matthew has been offered a wonderful job opportunity. Well actually they have asked him to apply for it. It is in the Ag. Loan department. This would be a perfect fit for him and exactly what he wants and is going to school for. He will graduate in December with his banking degree but the job is open now. He applied and today it closes. So he should know something next week I would hope. Please keep your fingers crossed.

Jay and Elizabeth are trying to sell their house and move to Kearney (same town as Marty and Stephanie). They showed it on Monday and they have a couple really interested. They are looking at a few more and will make a decision on Monday. As much as I will miss them in the same town, this move would be wonderful for them as a family. Jay is an engineer for the Union Pacific railroad and has crazy hours. With this move he will have normal M-F/8-5 hours. So mcuh better with a young family.

WFDT ~ Chicken, Spinach & Mozeralla Brats on the grill, potato salad and sliced tomatoes.

Make it a great day my dear friends.

....it's the same kitchen, but it's not - KWIM?

Hi everyone!

This week has been the first week that I've started to feel more normal again. I'm still coughing but it is significantly less than last week and I am hoping that another semi-restful weekend will push it right out of me. Dinners have been incredibly scrappy here; pita bread pizza, chicken and vegetable soup with saffron, stir fry at mum's and as ever on Tuesday nights, DH makes baked potatoes.

My cousin had a baby boy about a month ago. In the Chinese tradition, after the first month, we have a celebration. So, we're going out for dinner tonight. It will be Chinese. I'm not complaining...but after all the food in Hong Kong, I'm still not quite ready to face another Chinese meal yet. I'm sure I'll survive tonight's dinner. :rotfl:

Hope you are all well. :goodvibes

Breakfast at Enchanted Garden

This is the last meal we had at Hong Kong Disneyland. Last but definitely not least! Without a doubt, this was the BEST breakfast buffet I've ever had on a Disney resort....EVER!

The restaurant is the Enchanted Garden, located at the Disneyland Hotel.

Looks like Crystal Palace from the inside.

0403HKDLDay001.jpg

0403HKDLDay008.jpg

The buffet selection

This was the noodle bar where you choose your bowl of noodles from the egg noodles or rice noodle options.

0403HKDLDay010.jpg

Decide on the protein of your choice…

0403HKDLDay011.jpg

…pass it over to the chef where he will then cook it for you.

0403HKDLDay009.jpg

There is a wide selection of Asian type condiments to add to your bowl of soup noodles after you get it back.

0403HKDLDay012.jpg

There was a section just for dim sum. Here are some of the options that were available that morning.

Spring rolls.

0403HKDLDay016.jpg

Haam Sui Gok (Salty pastry, I think it had a pork filling)

0403HKDLDay018.jpg

Wu Gok (Taro dumpling)

0403HKDLDay019.jpg

I’m not even sure what this is! I think it might be a water chestnut cake. This is not something that we see in Melbourne very often and I think my mother told me what it was.

0403HKDLDay017.jpg

Shui Mai (steamed pork dumplings)

0403HKDLDay021.jpg

Lo Mai Gai (Lotus leaf glutinous rice, stuffed with chicken, chinese sausage and mushroom)

0403HKDLDay022.jpg

Char Siew Bao (Steamed BBQ Pork Buns)…the crowds were getting larger by this stage.

0403HKDLDay023.jpg

Har Gow (Prawn dumplings)…obviously popular with the masses.

0403HKDLDay026.jpg

The Congee station! One plain, the other flavoured with chicken.

0403HKDLDay027.jpg

Ready for you to add the accoutrements…this is century old egg.

0403HKDLDay024.jpg

And some sort of tofu dish, I think.

0403HKDLDay028.jpg

I was particularly excited to see the Indian section!

Roti!

0403HKDLDay029.jpg

And two curries to go with the bread. This one had okra and was tomato based. Spicy, hot and sour. YUM!

0403HKDLDay030.jpg

The chickpea curry.

0403HKDLDay032.jpg

Samosas were also available.

0403HKDLDay033.jpg

Fried Rice.

0403HKDLDay034.jpg

Fried Noodles.

0403HKDLDay035.jpg

The next section along was the Western breakfast section. I couldn’t even get near enough as it was very popular with the Asian crowd. There was cook to order omelettes and the standard eggs, bacon, waffles, pancakes etc that you would expect.

Pastries and breads were next.

0403HKDLDay037.jpg

Jam and other spreads to go with your toast.

0403HKDLDay038.jpg

Juice bar and more fruit.

0403HKDLDay036.jpg

The represent the plates of food that ended up at my table.

Soup noodles for breakfast.

0403HKDLDay042.jpg

A selection of Dim Sum. There is also cheung fun or rice noodle rolls on the plate with hoisin sauce. I used to love this as a child.

0403HKDLDay040.jpg

A bowl of warm soya milk. Mmmmmmm. Another childhood favourite.

0403HKDLDay048.jpg

Indian curries on the roti, with a samosa.

0403HKDLDay044.jpg

What’s a Disney breakfast without these?

0403HKDLDay046.jpg

0403HKDLDay053.jpg

From the Western front.

0403HKDLDay051.jpg

Cooked to order omelette.

0403HKDLDay054.jpg

And fruit.

0403HKDLDay056.jpg

Absolutely delish!
