The What's For Dinner Thread - November '09(recipe index in OP)

Joanne- you are not new anymore......once you join in the chat.....you are one of us!

:thumbsup2

So I forgot to post dinner again :lmao: Leftovers I think :rotfl2: Buddy has been telling us all that he can cook so I keep offering my kitchen to him. (Like I would give up any space in my kitchen :rotfl2::rotfl2:) He has all of these "reasons" why he cannot get dinner. Today I asked him what he was cooking...he is cooking sandwiches :lmao:I have a feeling I am going to be cooking him eggs if he runs out of chicken.....he hated last nights meal so that is out :rotfl2:

:rotfl2:

Kat - when do you get the results?

I don't know, my doctor's office is closed on Thursdays so the earliest would be Friday.

Not sure what's for dinner tonight, I took out fish and my DM took out ground beef. She may be making meat cakes :crazy2: .

Ha ha meat cakes, I remember your description of those. Hope your dinner was something else! ;)

John had a client dinner tonight so I got to make something I wanted: stir fried veggies with chicken and brown rice. I made extras for lunch tomorrow, they were tasty. Usually my photos either show John's plate, a serving plate that is for both of us, or something I plate and put half away after the photo, but I ate almost this entire plate of food.

Yes, it was something good. DM was out tonight so I breaded the fish in Panko, fried it in a little olive oil and had it with a mixture of polenta, goat cheese, ff half and half and spinach. :cloud9:

I'm failing miserably at keeping up with this thread. :sad2: I would SAY that things should settle down some after this weekend, but the last time I said that (at Mardi Gras), things only got BUSIER, so I shall keep my mouth shut. :rolleyes1

I won the parking spot again! :thumbsup2 I get it for a week and a half later this month. :woohoo:

I went to the New Orleans Museum of Art today after work to see the Disney Animation exhibit again. The last day for it is March 14th (I think) and I wanted to see it before it left.

Well I'm off to bed. Have a good night everybody. :grouphug:

Congrats on the parking spot Bethany!

WFD - Pepper steak, fried rice and inside out eggrolls.

I am going to try to spring a vegetarian meal on Alex tonight. I sounds really good. Hopefully he will play along.

Sounds much better than a meat cake, and I don't even remember that story. :lmao:

inside out eggrolls.
:confused3 what are these?

Nancy, I loved your dinner table comment...you are so good with words!
-----------

Dinner last night was pasta and pepperoni cresent rolls.

WFD- swiss steak with egg noodles and roasted asparagus.

Heading over to my parents today to see what needs to be done.

Have a great day everyone!

SHeryl- I also wanted to tell you that this growing old thing sucks!

Maria-glad to see you here! WHen you are feeling better let us know......what a great reason to share a toast together!

ELlen- i am still thrilled to know that Jay is leaving Iraq. We never cared where Tim or Chris went once they got out of Iraq...once they were on their way it was all good!

Marilyn- I also remember the meat cakes :rotfl:

Joanne- you are not new anymore......once you join in the chat.....you are one of us! SHeryl and I were laughing that this thread is like talking around a table.....lots of conversations going on at once......lots of women chatting and food! No matter how hard youtry you don't get all of the conversations or you forget what you want to say but that does not change how you feel about those lovely women at the table.

You said it beautifully Lady. That is EXACTLY how I feel about all of you. And you are so right. As long as Jay is done with Missions in Iraq and out of there we really don't care when he gets home. Well that isn't exactly true - but you know what I mean. :)

Congrats on the Parking spot. That is so cool.
I would have loved to see that exhibit. That is one of the hard things with living so rural. We get nothing like that even somewhat close to us. So please tell us about it. Do you have any pictures? Sounds really nice.

I am going to try to spring a vegetarian meal on Alex tonight. I sounds really good. Hopefully he will play along.

Good luck with that! :rotfl2: No really, he will probably like it. Just don't tell him what's in it or not in it. Just tell him - "Supper's ready".

Ann ~ have a good time at you parents today. Did Emma have any reaction to her H1N1 shot?

Marilyn ~ :rotfl2: I am so glad there were no meat cakes last night.

Becky ~ I agree!! Have you ever thought of being a chef? You are awesome.

Kathy ~ You are getting results back already? How long do you have to wear the Heart monitor? I had to wear mine for a whole month, 24/7 except when I showered. Please let us know.

Hey all guess what ?!!! It is suppose to get up to 50+ degrees today. YeeHaw!! I am taking it!! I have already told Cooper - our 2 yo boxer - to get ready because as soon as I get home from work we are going for a nice long walk. It is only March and here on the Plains I KNOW we have at least 2 more major snow storms in our future, but for now I am enjoying this sneek peek at spring.

WFDT ~ American Chop Suey, garlic bread sticks, corn and a green salad.

I do like oysters and clams on the half shell!

Now, Ann, that is what I have been craving lately! I'm not brave enough to try to have that at home though.

Aimee -- I'm sorry your tooth is giving you pain. You need a break from doctors!

Kathy -- Thanks for the update on Gretchen. I meant to tell you yesterday that your tuna looked awesome! I love rare tuna.

Sheryl -- I'm glad you don't need more surgery for your back. That must be a relief! I'm glad to hear Miss A is back to her usual self as well.

Ellen -- If Jay has his papers, the exit shouldn't change. The only variable is the date. Sometimes weather or other circumstances can delay things by a few days. Do you know around when he will be able to come home?

Can't wait for the meds to be over & celebrate with a glass!!!!!!!!!

Count me in on that as well! You so deserve a glass or two.

I love this description!

Marilyn -- Your dinner sounded much better than meatcakes!

Bethany -- Congratulations on the parking spot!

I am going to try to spring a vegetarian meal on Alex tonight.

Good luck!

I think I am going to make a stir fry for dinner tonight. Beck's picture has inspired me. I'm sure mine won't look like hers though.

Details please! I love a good vegetarian meal!

Bethany, congrats on the parking spot!

Not sure WFD yet, I had been planning a tomato-carrot-spinach soup, but John turned his nose up at that idea this morning. It's snowing again, so I want something comforting.

If it is good I'll post it. I am trying different things trying to lighten our meals up. Alex doesn't need to lose weight but I do.:rolleyes1 Plus I am getting bored making the same ole same old meals.

Kathy ~ You are getting results back already? How long do you have to wear the Heart monitor? I had to wear mine for a whole month, 24/7 except when I showered. Please let us know.

I only had the monitor on for 24 hours, no results yet.

Hey y'all,

I don't remember the meat cake description! Someone please explain.

Bethany, Yay!

Kathy, Glad you're no longer on that undercover sting!

Nancy, I remember that chat, but gosh you have such a wonderful way with words!

Becky, That looks delicious!

I have no idea WFD! I have the task of trying to find an outfit that will turn Alexis into Nancy Reagan! Chris has been working on the report & poster, so I guess my part is easier. Doesn't it figure that I she doesn't have one red dress that still fits.

Just another quick checkin, don't want to hog the library computer. Our tv was fixed today and I might be getting a new computer tomorrow! Who knows how long it will be before I figure out how to get it on the internet. I'm really hoping all the pictures and recipes I have on the old one can be saved.

Bethany- I knew you'd get the spot again, congratulations.

Aimee- I hope your feeling well after the surgery. You had asked me about a beef brisket recipe, I didn't forget you, but it really wasn't worth it. I won't make it again.

Maria- Hope your feeling well soon.

I am so lost on what's going on with all of you but I'll catch up eventually.

Last night we had chicken with buffalo sauce from this months cooking light and a interesting/tasty salad from this month's Everyday Food. After being at disney for a while we are really enjoying our salads.

Tonight is beer braised sausage and potatoes, also from Everyday Food. Hope it's tasty.

Have a great day everyone!

Hi All,

Bethany :cool1: on the parking space.

Kat, I came on to see if you had any results.

Ellen, so happy about Jay!!!!!!!

Sheryl how are you & Bob feeling? Are you bringing "A" with you in June?

Still no solid food for me...Poor Greg~

Just wanted to pop in and say hi to everyone. Its definitely been an interesting trip, one that we'll definitely look back on and laugh about one day. If something can go wrong it did but thankfully all minor things and we're all having a good time. Meals have been good but nothing amazing except for the conch chowder from room service of all places and the miso black cod from Nobu. I'm terribly behind but wanted to tell Maria I'm so happy she's on the mend. We're coming home Saturday so I'll be able to chat more then.

This is way less than i usually eat! Now I know how you stay so slim......you know when to stop eating :goodvibes I am a chubby member of the Clean Plate Club ;)
I won the parking spot again! :thumbsup2 I get it for a week and a half later this month. :woohoo:

You have your work cut out for you!
Last night we had chicken with buffalo sauce from this months cooking light and a interesting/tasty salad from this month's Everyday Food. After being at disney for a while we are really enjoying our salads.

!

I think it is also the Spring Fever! I have :snooty: salads all winter long. I make them for Buddy but I have an extra helping of anything else. This week i have been eating some kind of salad at least twice a day.....and liking them!

Still no solid food for me...Poor Greg~

I think Greg understands. How are you today?

. We're coming home Saturday so I'll be able to chat more then.

I am envious, glitches and all! See you soon!

We went out to lunch today so dinner will be light. I had a huge greek sald with chicken. Buddy had everything he should not have had. :confused3 But I am not bitter......................
