The What's For Dinner Thread - November '09(recipe index in OP)

I just read back a few pages.

Becky, How do you make a roasted chicken look so beautiful?! :thumbsup2

Robin, You made those truffles?!!! Wow you are good! :goodvibes

Wendie, I hope your boy starts feeling better soon! :flower3:

Hi Joanne, That chicken dish sounds good! I'm going to have to try it!

I guess I had better check in on FB too & see what else I've missed! We're having lamb again tonight. We had salad with it last night, tonight I'll saute some spinach & cook a mushroom & wild rice pilaf.

Sheryl, having a nice rack ;) is better than being told it is long, right Vic!!!:rotfl: We love ya lady and are here for you.

Ellen, thinking of Jay and you all! Prayers.

Lori, hooray on the move!!!

Laura, I agree and am going to follow your lead on posting.

Aimee, how ya hanging in there?

Wendie, have a nice time if I do not get to talk to you before you leave. Good luck with the situation.

Maria, miss you. How is Greg coping without you.

Dinner tonight was soooo tasty. I love lamb, DH not so much.

I will be lurking for a bit. DD is sleeping on me and the one fingr typing stinks.

Welcome Joanne!

To everyone else sending hugs and prayers.

Nice rack Sheryl....;)

:rotfl2:

 I. Need. That. I've never even heard of a bacon of the month club! Drool.
Every time I see that bacon of gthe Month I think of that movie with the two brides who want teh same date. One enrolls the other in the "butter of the month" club :lmao:Totally get that kind of club! :cool1:

You need a reason for bacon?!?:scared1:

Alas, the man cold has reared it's ugly head in our hotel room in St Louis. :sad2:

An excerpt from the 3am conversation this morning:

R: why are you tossing and turning?
Me: Everytime I fall asleep I hear this loud noise...<grumble>
R: I don't hear anything.....
Me: That's cause you keep waking yourself up with said loud noise!
R: Oh. I'm the noise?
Me: Yes- go take cough medicine and leave me alone.

The man is now napping.:rolleyes1

I found earplugs at Walgreens today.

Now I dying!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Glad to post the recipe for the chicken carlito ..

YUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sheryl- :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:
So we totally messed up dinner tonight. Kady has a McDonalds night for a fund raiser. I decided we would take one for the team and have my favorite faast food ever! Well the baby's dad had a late night so I was going to send Buddy but that child would go to no one but Buddy. Now we decided that neither of us wants to go out and we are having chicken sandwiches. We are beyond pathetic!

I am having a hard time keeping up everywhere but I'll find you wherever you post, not to worry!

Let's see if I can sort of catch up here....I will do the majority of posting wherever you all go, anything private I will put on fb and will make a note here that I did. That way those who don't check their fb daily will know there is something on it.

I have been very hohum today....It is 2 years today that my mom passed away. I didn't put it on fb because it is also my brothers b-day, and my sis in law and nieces are on my page and it makes them so sad to see that connection. I also didn't need my mils words of vomit on it either. I just miss her so much, it seems like it gets harder every year not easier:sad1:

Nancy--I just love the stories of Buddy and the babies. My grandfather had the same knack.

Sheryl--I am sorry you feel down....sometimes hunkering down in bed is just what you need. I do think getting out and getting your hair done will make you feel better. Sounds like you have a fun NOLA meet to look forward to as well.

Robin--YUMMY....great work on all of those!!

Lori--Thanks for the frozen peas idea!! Your man cold 3am commentary made me chuckle...sorry my friend!!

Ann--Thank you for the travel wishes!! I am trying to focus on the fun with my boys and just letting the other "stuff" be what it will:rolleyes1

Ross goes back to school tomorrow (today was a snow day so he only missed one day this week) fingers crossed he makes it the whole day..I really need a day to get last minute errands run!! He is still having some ear pain when he swallows and has a sinus headache....he is a snotty coughing sneezing mess...I think it is more viral then bacterial to be honest with you all.:headache:

Kathy-Thanks for calling Sheryl and checking on her for us!! :flower3: How are you feeling?

I think between here and fb I am caught up...maybe...for now, lol.

:grouphug: to you all!!! I am going to go lay down...my enemy is really killing me:mad::sick:

Have a good night friends and I will check in with you all tomorrow!!

I totally understand this, Wendie. I'm so sorry that today has been hard. I seem to be missing my mom a lot more, lately, as well. It's always hard, but some days are worse than others. You are in my prayers, my friend!

/
Wendie - Like Glynis, I too, know exactly where you are. It's hard my friend. Next week will be three years since I lost my Mom. It does get easier but some days are just really, really hard.

Wendie- I am so sorry my friend. i would love a few minutes alone with those IL's! It has been a long time since I flayed someone verbally but I have not lost my touch when properly provoked  and I am now provoked!

I am like Kat. I miss my Mom more during the winter months, I think it was because I used to sit on the chair and catnap when I was supposed to be cleaning or something. She used to laugh and tell me she would rather the company and did not care about the cleaning. It was three years on January third.

Kat- I know how you feel

Hey y'all,

Sorry to worry everyone. As Kathy explained I've just been feeling off & in a major funk. I've been in a shut down mode all week, skipped PT & sleeping a lot. I'm sorry that I am being a rotten friend again. Kathy's call helped! Thanks Kathy. I have to go get my hair done tomorrow & I can't skip it cause I have a lot of gray showing. Maybe that will help jolt me out of this mood.

You are not a rotten friend! We all have times like that... no apologies necessary :goodvibes

Aimee, how ya hanging in there?

I had a better day, I mean I still had pain but no fever yet and the pain wasn't intense like yesterday. So, maybe the steroid is helping some?

 That's awful that your brother's birthday is today, too. How sad.

YES! I'm probably going to have to decide where I'm going to post because I can't manage the recipes, pics, facebook and here.:sad2:

I'm just going to post here & leave dates out.

Sending warm thoughts to Wendie & Kat.......missing someone is so tough.

Robin, I like Chicago. We have a tough daily routine so I wish I could report that I have done some touristy things but it just hasn't happened.
We had dinner tonight in Miller's Pub.....
Thank you for the suggestion JANICE!!!!

Please pray DH is not laid off this week.

I will catch up tomorrow......
Goodnight

Maria Glad you both liked Millers pub it was always one of my fav's. I will pray no layoffs.

Wendie I just will never understand some people. If I ever get my Island bought I'll make some room for you minus IL's.

Last night we had sloppy joe's yes not gourmet but good.

Tonight is supposed to be library night but they are calling for freezing rain again. One of these days they will get it right I haven't been out yet so I don't know how much is around.

Maria - Praying for no layoff here as well.

WFD - Beef Stroganoff, noodles and corn. bbl.......

Maria, praying for Greg!

Be back tonight going to DP's for lunch.

---------

WFD - grilled tuna & swiss.

Praying for no layoffs for anyone! Dang this economy!

Dinner last night was good... so they tell me. I ended up not eating any of it, as my stomach just couldn't handle it. No problem, though, since it means now DH has lunch for today.

I don't know what we'll have tonight. Sloppy Joe's sound good, but DH won't want the bun. Maybe I'll make the sauce and put it over brown rice for him and on buns for the kids. I'll talk to him about it.

More studying on tap for me today. I'm bound and determined to finish this module (bundle of 2 chapters) today. I'm reviewing the chapters, and then have a lecture to listen to on the internet. Hopefully, I can get that done tonight, and then take the exam on it! This has been a long and tricky module. I hope I'm understanding it. We'll know after the final!

Good Morning! Quick fly by...

Wendie, Hugs to you, my friend.

Nancy, So sorry that Buddy needs surgery but hope for a speedy recovery.

Aimee, Glynis, Janice Kat and everyone else not feeling well...hope today finds you feeling better.

Robin...all I can say is yum!

Maria, Prayers for Greg. Glad you are finding your way around with some help from Janice, Zagats etc. I hope you get to sight see soon. When are you and Janice getting together.

My battery is running out and so is T's nose...gotta go.

Thank you for all of your prayers for my brother. He is breathing on his own but now has kidney failure...:sad1:

BBL Have a great day!

Good morning all, hope you are all well. Thanks for all the nice things you said about my pictures. I was just going to make her truffles, but then I wanted to get my money's worth out of the flat rate box from the post office so I had to fill it up.

Janice- Here is the recipe for the almonds, I don't think they even begin to compare to the rosemary ones but they are still tasty.
http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/ginger-almonds-recipe/index.html

Lauren- My thoughts are still with you and your brother.

Glynis- Hope your tummys better soon, I'm sure it will feel better when you are done with your test.

Maria- Thinking of you and Greg.

Sheryl- I hope today is a better day for you.

Wendie, Kathy, and Nancy- I'm sorry this time of year is exta hard, but I'm glad you have each other to lean on and relate to.

Don't know what's for dinner, but a chicken from BJ's sounds pretty good.

Morning Y'all,

Lauren, I'm so sorry. :hug::grouphug:

Wendie, I hope R makes it through school today & you get all your errands run. I'm sorry you are feeling blue. It does get easier my friend, it just takes a long time! My Daddy has been gone since '94 & we all still miss him. But during the holidays we can now talk about him & remember the good times. The hurt doesn't go away, it just sort of eases.:grouphug:

Please let Nancy & Vickie loose on your MIL!! ;)

Kathy, I think I'll post here most. I just can't keep up with it all.

Maria, Greg might be getting layed off? Oh no! Prayers for him! I hope you get to do some sightseeing soon. How's the weather? Are you freezing your patootie?!

Lauren, Hope T feels better soon!

Aimee, I hope those steroids start to work! Dealing with IBS myself this week, I don't know how you manage your busy life & your illness. You are one strong lady!

Glynis, Every time you mention studying, I am just WOWed by that! I am so impressed that you are doing this! :goodvibes

We need a SuperWoman Smiley!

I know there's more but I've gotta run if I'm going to get beautified today!

BBL!

Lori -- I hope the man cold has left.

:grouphug: to everyone who is feeling a bit down. These winter months are hard. I decided yesterday I am going to assign myself a project each week. Other than that, it is just too easy to spend the winter curled up under a blanket with a book.

Sheryl -- Have fun at the salon today. I am sure getting beautified will help your mood.

Nancy -- I too love the stories of Buddy and the babies. They must sense his inner marshmallow.

Wendie -- I hope you are feeling better today, both physically and mentally. I hope you have beautiful weather for your trip and get to soak up lots of sun.

Maria -- I'm sorry Greg is worried about layoffs. Prayers said.

Glynis -- I hope your stomach is feeling better today. I am impressed with how hard you are working for this certification -- or is it a degree? I forget the official title...whatever it is, I am still impressed!

Lauren -- I'm so sorry to hear your brother is developing more health issues. You both continue to be in my thoughts and prayers. I hope T feels better soon!

I wanted to get my money's worth out of the flat rate box from the post office so I had to fill it up.

This made me laugh because I have certainly gotten full use out of those boxes. One time the post office worker asked if I was mailing bricks. I am sure your aunt will love your gift.

Aimee -- I am glad you are feeling a little better.

Tonight is the neighborhood book swap. I decided to bring Dog on It by Spencer Quinn. It is laugh-out-loud funny, even if you aren't a dog person. I figured it would brighten someone's winter day.

I think we'll have some kind of fish for dinner tonight.

ONE DAY, just one day I am not here and I have 3 pages to read back on. OH MY!!! :scared1:

I will try to catch back up after I get the Sunday bulletins finished. But until then all the prayers and WooHoos you need are on the way.

WFDT ~ a bag of popcorn. Doug is on his own!!

I will bbl!
