Hi everyone

Maria- My heart goes out to you all I can say is  my friend.

Wendie- I'm sorry your feeling this way about the trip but only you and Kris can make the decision .

Bethany- So glad you got medication and didn't spend a fortune you go girl.

Lauren- Praying for you with your Dr. appointment like others have said keep us updated please.

Kat- How are you my friend praying for you my dear.

Sorry everyone but I won't be on much this week got to work and was asked to do drive 3 groups back and forth so they could have swim lessons. How could I say not say yes. Those kiddies need to have fun during school to. So I'm gone all day:upsidedow House will still be a mess next week right?
Have a good day everyone:grouphug:

Hi y'all,

I'm sorry I haven't been around this weekend. Kind of just hanging with the hubby & some me time. I've been reading my new John Besh cookbook & some cooking but not much else. Today I had A home for the 1st time since the holidays. We spent the whole day playing Wii. (DH had given me one for Christmas, Josh just hooked it up for us yesterday) I haven't read back very far.

Maria, I am truly sorry & feel so bad for you & Greg. I will be praying for you both to get through this.:hug:

Wendie, I'm also sad for you. It must be a very difficult decision. Prayers for you too.

Ellen, How very sad for that family! But I'm sure the church's help must be a great comfort for them. I'm glad y'all are there to help, if there is anything we can do, please let us know!

Dinner tonight was Nancy's red lentil soup. I made a stock with smoked ham hocks & andouille first, then cooked the lentils in the stock, added garbanzos & okra too. Sort of a Nola Lebanese gumbo:confused3 but it was good.

Wendie - I'm so sorry honey. This is such a tough month for you anyway it hardly seems fair to have the vacation fall apart too. I'm here, even if you just want a shoulder to cry on.

Sheryl - I loved the crab dip. :cloud9:

 Wendie.

Dinner was tasty and quick tonight - and DH actually ate 2 servings of it! :confused3

It's from the latest Real Simple magazine. The last two recipes I tried out of this issue were duds but this one was decent.

Orange Chicken with Bulgur Pilaf
Total time: 30 min
Feeds: 4

4 6-ounce bl/sl chicken breasts (I cut two large ones in half)
1 teaspoon finely grated orange zest, plus 1/4 cup fresh OJ
6 scallions, sliced
3 tablespoons chopped fresh oregano
3 tablespoons plus 1 teaspoon olive oil
kosher salt and black pepper
1 pint grape tomatos, halved
1/2 cup pitted kalamata olives, halved
1 cup bulgur wheat

In large bowl, toss chicken with zest, half the scallions, 2 tablespoons oregano, 1 tablespoon oil, and 1/2 teaspoon each salt and pepper. (the chicken can be marinated and refrigerated up to 1 day in advance)

In a bowl, combine the tomatos, olives, 2 tablespoons oil, remaining scallions, remaining 1 tablespoon oregano, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon pepper. (this mixture can also be prepared and refrigerated uup to 1 day in advance)

Heat remaining teaspoon of oil in a nonstick skillet over med heat. Add chicken and cook until golden, 8-9 minutes per side, adding OJ during last minute.

Meanwhile, cook bulgur according to package directions. Toss with tomato mixture; serve with chicken.

Oh my Wendie, that just stinks big time.

My dinner turned out really well tonight, I'll post the recipe tomorrow.

I have an addiction people. :sad1: Farm Frenzy 2! I think I need a 12 step program. :rotfl: I got a free "taste" of it through my new computer then I happened to find it at Target. Let's just say it's going to be a real problem. :rolleyes1

Good morning! It's freezing down here!!!!!!

WFD - Glynis' lemon chicken and pasta with glazed carrots.

Good Morning, quick fly by with the hopes of getting back here later.

Wendie, Hugs to you my friend. I hope you can find a way to make the vacation work for all of you.

Maria, I hope you are doing OK. You have been on an emotional roller coaster for way too long now.

Ellen, that poor family. It seems like you have a very tight knit community that is helping out...

Kat, I hope things with MIL are settling down. All of you are in my prayers.

***
Dinner tonight is Kat's saucy beef, egg noodles and a big tossed salad. I hope I can find the recipe. If not, I will wing it!

Have a great day all. I will BBL.

I thought I would give you an update on my DB...he is still not doing well. I was told he has good days and bad but he is still on a respirator, not 100%, but he is still on in and the docs were hoping for more improvement by now. I have a feeling the brain swelling did a lot of damage since it was not treated for a week. :sad1:

Wendie- I cannot imagine how you must feel. I have no advice, I am the one in our family who does not manage money well so I would say all of the wrong things. You will do what is best for your family. I know that there is history with your father but I think that I would tell him that your finances took a hit and let him pay your expenses. Honestly, this trip is more for him than it is for you. I am so sorry that you are in this place, the economy in New England is still not good and I think that while we all have day to day expenses when it comes to the extras what was okay yesterday is no a major decision.

Lauren- I am so sorry, you have had such a difficult few months. Prayers that your DB will recover

Sheryl- thinking about you

Kat- how are you doing this wek?

I have Nola this morning while Welby runs a few errands. I am supposed to be cleaning but Buddy is around so my schedule is shot to heck! BBL Ladies!

Morning, all!

I'm getting the school age kids ready to leave this morning. They all have to be to school by 7:30. Katie's school starts at 8:00, and her bus leaves at 7:35, and the other kids are in the school play and they rehearse at 7:30. It's so nice to have a quiet house by 7:30 in the morning! Too bad it's only until the end of February! Oh well!

Dinner last night was tuna casserole for the kids, and tuna salad for Alan and me. Now, I'm on the hunt for something for tonight. I'm thinking something with chicken!

Wendie - I'm so sorry about your trip. Wish I could say something to help, but all I can say is that I'm praying for you!

Kathy - How are things with Kyle?

Lauren - What did the endo say yesterday?

Have a great day, all! I got one tree down yesterday, and will finish the other one today. I also need to prepare for Scouts, and work on my classwork (it's much more involved than I thought it would be!)

Good morning everyone! I heard on the news this morning New Orleans is just as cold as here, hope you are all staying warm.

Glynis- Enjoy your quiet house, good luck on your studies.

Lauren- My thoughts are still with you and your family.

Wendie- I'm sorry you have such a tough choice to make. I'm sure you'll find a way to get down there.

Bethany- I'm glad your one the mend and that the clinic worked for you. I'm grateful for the very expensive insurance that we have, but sometimes is so frustrating. I could grumble about it for a while so I'm just going to consider myself fortunate that I have insurance and move on. I'm sure every day you'll feel better and better.

So I've decided that my family eats really boring meals, so I'm going to make my lunches more interesting (it's just me so it will be the stuff they won't touch.) I'm also going to try really hard to figure out how to post pictures. I think the first step is setting up an account with photobucket? Could someone tell me if I'm wrong.

Dinner tonight is grilled chicken (inside, don't plan on going out!) with peanut dipping sauce, brown rice, and carrots.

Lauren - I'm so sorry about your brother. If I can do anything, please let me know.

Nancy - Who needs to clean when you can be playing with that baby?!? If Buddy will give you a turn. ;)

Kat - It's cold here too! 21 degrees this morning when I went out to start the car. :scared1:

Robin - I don't have any idea how to work the pictures but I'm sure someone will be able to help.

Dinner tonight is red rice and sausage with steamed cabbage and biscuits.

Wendie -- I'm sorry you have such a difficult choice to make. I hope it all works out somehow.

Lauren -- I'm sorry your brother is still not doing well. Prayers for him.

Sheryl -- Enjoy the Wii, but be careful. When I saw Becky last week, she was complaining of aching muscles from playing too much Wii.

Nancy -- I think Gretchen had a great suggestion. Skip the cleaning and play with Nola!

Glynis -- Enjoy the quiet! Some of the parents down at the bus stop yesterday cheered when the bus drove away.

Robin -- I use Flickr for pictures. It is free unless you want to upload a lot of photos. I never use my monthly capacity. You upload the pictures to Flickr, or another hosting site, then grab the URL, hit the little picture icon here (the yellow one with the mountain), and copy the URL into that box.

I actually had a pretty productive day yesterday. I got all of my Christmas stuff down and put away and I still had time to take Caili's skates for sharpening. Dinner was not spectacular...sausages, sauerkraut, noodles, pickles and applesauce. I need to get to the store.

Today is skating and ballet, so we'll get pizza in between. Stay warm everyone!

I think I'm missing something, I set up a flickr account and I see the picture there, then I press the mountain and copy the url. I'll try to figure it out.

Ann- I think my polish stoneware is a different company. I'm pretty sure she got it from QVC. I actually got into from the Christmas line they carry at Christmas Tree shops, I love it. It's kind of tan with blue snowflakes and pine trees, this year they had moose. It reminds me of Wilderness Lodge. I like the traditional patterns too.

So, Alan has joined a "Biggest Loser" competition with his siblings and nieces and nephews. They all put 50 dollars on the line, and the person with the largest percentage of fat loss at the end of the competition will win all the money. Money is an incentive that Alan can wrap his head around, so he figured it is a good thing for him. I'm not "officially" in the competition, but I'm working on it with Alan. I'd love to lose 20 to 30 pounds.

So, I'm starting to cook more healthy for us all. Dinner tonight will be almond crusted, oven baked tilapia with parmesan crusted asparagus and brown rice. Cross your fingers that it's good!

We cannot see your photos because you have them as private. You can still have them coded as private but in order to post them here you have to grab the code and put it in the picture box (the yellow one with the mountain above). Here is a step-by-step for you.

1. upload photo
2. go to your photostream and click on the picture you want to upload
3. look at the menu across the top of the photo. The fifth icon is called "all sizes". Click on it.
4. You will now see five sizes of the photo you can select from. I always choose "medium." Click on the size photo you want to download from the choices across the top of the photo.
5. Scroll down below the photo. You will see two choices for how to share the photo on another website. You want to choose option 2: "grab this photo's URL" Copy the code you see in that box.
6. come back here and click on the icon with the mountain you see above.

(note: at this point, if you are using a new version of windows, you may have to give permission for the mountain icon to work--you can temporaily allow scripted windows. A prompt will come up, click allow, and then click the mountain box again).

7. Copy your code into the prompt that comes up. If there is already an http: in the prompt box, just erase it and paste in the entire code you copied from flickr.

8. click OK.

viola! Picture! Hope this helps. :)
