The What's For Dinner Thread - May '09(recipe index in OP)

Dinner tonight was quick...hot dogs for the guys and maple apple chicken sausage for me...they were so good!

What brand do you buy? I like chicken sausage.

Morning y'all!

Sheryl! Good to hear from you! Take it easy though, OK?

Nola seem s a little better this morning.

I am glad that she is feeling better. It's so sad when babies are sick.

I did not end up making the mushrooms last night. I just grilled some chicken marinated in lemon juice, olive oil, and thyme, and made a caprese salad. The chicken was that thin sliced kind and the salad is no-cook, so dinner only took 10 minutes to pull together start to finish.

Dinner tonight: something with those mushrooms!

Sheryl, great news!! Prayers still coming your way.

Lauren, we are ok with the ressies. The only thing I need to know is what time for Blue Zoo.
Charlene, what time for Blue Zoo?

Nan, glad Nola is better.

Ann, go to your Mom's...makes life easier for you!

Marisa, I go back to the doctor Monday!

Emily (my niece) made it through to the final 30 kids out of 3,000 for Billy Elliot!!!!! She has the final audition 3 days before we cruise:banana:

Dinner tonight is the chicken I didn't roast last night.

Becky, I cannot remember the brand...I think you have mentioned them before...they are natural, come 4 to s pack and pre cooked...they were really good!

Maria, I would say early if possible...maybe 6:30 ish....we leave for the airport that morning at 330am! wishing Emily .lots of luck! hw are yu feeling?

baby in hand = typos

It is definetely one page 1 in the husband handbook how to screw a job so your wife never asks you again. :lmao: Sorry all for laughing I do love being single especially with stories like these.

:rotfl::rotfl:

I felt bad for Kady today, so when her father woke up I had him go get her. When I called Kady to see if she wanted daddy to pick her up, she said, "YES!! Nola is so gross!!" I came home from work and they were playing Disney Scene-It, so she was thrilled:lovestruc

At least she got some "Daddy time" out of the deal. :goodvibes

We would love to visit, but we're definitely not moving there. Right now, we think the unit Greg is going to will deploy in early 2010, so we are hoping that Greg can get leave to join us in Disney in December, we'll do Christmas with him there. Then he'll deploy, and when he returns, the kids and I will spend some time with him in Germany during the kids' summer vacation.

I don't blame you, I wouldn't move either. Especially with him in the infantry. Most of his postings you and the kids couldn't go to anyway (or wouldn't want to) and you'd be stuck with the kids by yourself in a place you didn't want to be in the first place. I think your arrangement makes much more sense for you and the kids.

I was just thinking that Germany would be a neat place to go visit as opposed to some of the posting locations and would be a great trip for you and the children. The summer sounds like a good time, especially if he is able to make the trip home to go to Disney with you in December.

I had another thought. Have you talked to a nutritionist at the hospital or oncology center? They have some high calorie liquid nutrition that they can get - I can't remember what it's called - but it's more calorie dense then Ensure or Boost. Might be worth a call to one nearby just to ask if they have access to anything else that will offer some more calories.

I think Mom has spoken with some, but part of the problem is his diabetes. The chemo has his blood sugar ALL out of whack. Pre-cancer he was able to take a pill to control the diabetes, post-chemo he is insulin dependent with lots, and lots of checking and shots.

I am right there with you sister!!!! :lmao: I am partying over seeing a number on a scale most people would cry over. :rotfl: I tell DH all the time I missed my calling in life to be a plus size model. ;) .

At least yours is going down, with my stress eating, my number keeps going up. I think I've found every pound my Dad has lost.

Gretchen, I know that you are trying to care for your Dad and support your Mom but please try to take care and time for yourself. You can't be of use to anyone if you get worn out so be careful.

Honestly, Nancy I'm not doing very much. Mom and my brother are doing most of the day to day since I have my hands full with Hailey. I've helped out, but they are carrying the burden. I do some shopping for her (going to the store anyway) and make meals since that is something I can do at home. Luckily, I live just a couple miles away, so I can run stuff over. I just can't go and take Hailey since she doesn't understand why she can't crawl in the bed with Dad or why she has to be quiet.

Morning y'all! I'm doing pretty well except for sleeping. Pain & sleep meds only lete doze on @ off . The neck fells darn good when i'm sitting up or walking but laying down sucks. I have to suck on ice or drink watet to swallow which alsoeans lots of potty trips. But when up the necks not bad at all. Just the hand & throat bothers me then. I walked 4 times all around tha halls yesterday & that was good . I'm am very happy wtj how I feel now! I just hope sleeping at home tonight wiil be slot better. I know doing well due to all the prayers and good thoughts of all if my family & you my dear friends! I love y'all! Typos dueto iPhone & drugs

Sheryl, glad to see you post, but for heavens sake, take it easy!!!!!

Emily (my niece) made it through to the final 30 kids out of 3,000 for Billy Elliot!!!!! She has the final audition 3 days before we cruise:banana:

That's wonderful! Good luck to her!

Thank you to everyone for the continued support and prayers for me and for Dad. I appreciate all of you and your friendship more than I can say.

Lauren, we are ok with the ressies. The only thing I need to know is what time for Blue Zoo.
Charlene, what time for Blue Zoo?

Thank You for taking the time to do this,I am looking forward to meeting up again. :flower3:

Haven't had a chance to read back and catch up yet but........

Johnny & I ran into an old friend we hadn't seen in ages this past weekend. He buys, renovates and sells houses as a side business. We asked for his opinion on things we should do to get M&D's house ready to rent and he has now decided he wants to buy it!:worship:

I hate to ask again but could y'all please pray that this works out for us?:) I'm thrilled with the fact that this guy will bring that house back to life and make it more beautiful than ever.:goodvibes

Sorry I didn't see this until now. Of course, you have my prayers! Always! I hope this works out!!!

Think of it this way, you have an entire day & you'll sleep like a baby that night!!!!
Are you gals renting a car?

Thats what I thought, the next flight was much later in the afternoon.
No we are not renting a car, I usually get Tiffanys to pick up.which I still need to do.

Sheryl -- Nice to see you posting already! Take it easy.

Last night was not bad. Both kids were down by 9pm. Emma got up at 1:30, and again at 4:30. I got a couple of stretches out of her.

That's pretty good for such a little one!

Nan, Not too much gets done but I really try not to worry too much. I need to focus on me for a change because if I am not feeling well or in shape, who is gonna take care of everyone?

That is the right attitude! The housework can wait. Congratulations on the weight loss!

Nancy -- I'm glad Nola is feeling a little better.

Maria -- That is excellent news about Ellen. I wish her lots of luck in the next audition.

Sorry...I got distracted while posting and now I forget what I was going to write. Dinner is still under discussion. Greg had to drive his car to NJ today so it can be shipped overseas. I'm not sure if he'll be back before dinner. If it's just me and the kids, I'll make pasta. If Greg gets back, we'll probably have fish.

Hey ladies. Thanks for all the well wishes for FIL. He is doing much better. And MIL came this morning as planned. FIL admits that if he didn't drink/eat so much in Mexico last week that his illness would have been much less severe. The kids are already loving Nana camp (I have to admit, I am too!)

Sheryl--good to see you posting already. Take it easy and rest lots!

Maria/Vickie/et al--thanks for making the F&W ressies. Can't believe it will be here in 3 months! So excited!

Lauren--I have a crack-o-dawn flight as well. I think I leave Orlando at 5:30am! :scared1: But then I get back in time for Scott to go to work and not take any time off.

Laura--forgot to mention yesterday but good luck to Greg on his journey to Germany. Have a great week with him before he goes!

WFD tonight is whatever nana would like (I get a sandwich and chips at work). Ok, off to work with me!

Steph- so glad it is working out. I feel bad, i never even wished you FIL well :sad2:, I am brain dead lately!

Nana camp is the best and I bet the strain off of you is enormous if your IL's just jump in :thumbsup2

I am foggy today, i cleaned clutter off of my desk :scared1: and while I was doing it Nola climbed out of her exersaucer! Thank goodness i was within feet of her! For a sickie she has a lot of energy!

Nan could you live with us in NJ or Florida so I can leave the baby with you??? Your the best! Nola is very lucky:goodvibes

Steph, glad your FIL is on the mend....Enjoy Nana camp.

F&W girls...my contact called me back today & said we could be seated together @ 6pm.....I know it's a bit early but he was clear that he didn't expect us to leave before fireworks. I added another person just in case Nan!!!
Is this okay with everyone?

Stephanie -- I think I forgot to wish your FIL well too. :sad2: I've been running around this week, and with Greg home, my computer time is limited. I'm glad everything worked out and the kids are enjoying Nana Camp.

Nancy -- Nola must be feeling better if she has her energy back!

Greg won't be home in time for dinner, so I am just making pasta with red sauce and a salad. It looks like it might storm here any minute, so grilling is not an option.

Ok, where the heck did my multi quote go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There goes Emma....duty calls...I guess I will have to try again later!
