The What's For Dinner Thread - May '09(recipe index in OP)

That's it Alex has to stop growing now! No girlfriends and no driving. I've seen how he is on a bike and driving go-karts :scared1:

Well Ladies Alex had his last day of 8th grade today.:faint:

Ann I am glad your mom test cam back so well

Lauren Take care and rest. That's no little ham hock you have there.

Vickie I hope your son is better in the morning and take care of yourself too

I need to read back I'm hopelessly behind

Tonight was hamburgers fries and a salad.

Hey Guys, I am laying in bed now totally drugged up and po'ed at myself. I hurt my back today on my way to field day. I had to take steps so I took Thomas' carrier out of the stroller to carry him in one hand and the stroller in the other and bending down my back went out. :headache:

I'm so sorry, I hope it feels better tomorrow. :wizard:

DM just got her test results from the biopsy. Thank you all for your prayers. There was no malignancy :thumbsup2 found, they did say there were some abnormal cells but nothing to be concerned with now. She will talk with Dr. at next appointment about the abnormal cells and how often they will recheck going forward.

Ann, that's wonderful news. I'm so very glad.

I wish I could sweetie but it doesn't. As Glynis said it's different and when they become teens and start driving, dating and going off to college it's really hard. I'm worried all evening until my boy gets back from Baton Rouge, he had a campus tour and visited his GF and he'll be driving back tonight...needless to say I won't sleep until he's home.:sad2:

:hug::hug:

:lmao::lmao:

Glynis - Love the photos and the report. I don't think I'll ever get my crowd that far west so I'm sort of travelling through your report.

Vickie - Hope "the boy" is better tomorrow.

Well, everyone, we found out today that Patrick passed the 7th grade!!!!!!:banana: His grades weren't anything to write home about (unlike his sister who got straight A's this marking period and A's and B's for the year), but he's headed for 8th grade. Only 5 more grades to go and then it's off to the marines for sniper training. ;)

Patrick and Amanda ended up spending the night at friends' houses tonight so Kenny and I had a more adult dinner. We grilled shrimp and veggies. We'll do the ham and potatoes tomorrow night.

I'll be with Mom and Dad at the dr's office for most of the morning and early afternoon tomorrow, so it will probably be the afternoon before I post.

Ann--that's great news!

Glynis--I'm loving your tr. Sorry kstie was so sick! Been there done that. I'm loving the pictures. Dh and I had a great trip to Arizona pre-kids. The Grand Canyon was awesome!

Had some awesome BBQ chicken tonight. First time to use Sweet Baby Rays. Yummo!

*Raises white flag of surrender*

I give up. I cannot keep up with this thread or any of the others and still accomplish what I need to do with this move. :sad2:

That said, I need to step away from all of them for about a month. :sad1:
I don't want to. Not one little bit. .... but I have to or I'm going to have BIG PROBLEMS come June 29th and 30th. :scared:

I might be able to pop in on the weekends just to give a quick "hey I'm still alive" but I can't do the whole keep up and multi-quote and respond...and I don't believe in doing things halfway.

NYC-area people: I am still on for Sunday and am very much looking forward to it!

Good rainy Morning!

Ann- Prayers answered! I am so glad that your Mom's tests results were happy!

Glynis- I'm enjoying your TR! Like Gretchen, I am East Coast anchored and need to live through you

Vickie- Kady gets headaches when she is overtired. I hope your Boy is better this morning. Now it never gets better...as others have already said, it just gets different. Donny used to work nights in a gas/convenience store. It was a dicey job IMO. I used to go to bed but I never slept until I heard the car coming down the street. I sometimes did not even hear him come in I was so tired. He told me later that he used to hear me walk down the hall and stop in font of the bedroom door during the night.

Gretchen- Just give that boy an incentive and voila! Who knew Marine snipers would do it!

Bethany- don't worry about the thread! Get your stuff done so you don;t have panic at the end of the month

Lauren- Rest rest rest! You cannot be in pain with a new baby

Janice- if you figure out how to keep him this age, let us know!

Dinner is leftovers one more night. I want Marisa to do my nails so no time to cook! I have got to learn how to make food for two! I am okay if it is a grilled meal but anything else seems to make enough for 6! Not bad if buddy likes it but if not....there goes my weigh in's!

Lauren - Hoping your back is feeling better today.

Too funny!:rotfl:

I know y'all must be relieved that P passed! Hope it goes well at the Dr today.

Had some awesome BBQ chicken tonight. First time to use Sweet Baby Rays. Yummo!

Isn't it great? I think about Wendie every time I use it. I miss her so much.:sad1:

That said, I need to step away from all of them for about a month. :sad1:

Take care of your business and pop in when you have time, you've got a lot to take care of!

WFD - Spaghetti & meat sauce, salad and garlic bread.

Hey All,

My back is still bothering me. I am going to try and stay in bed most of the day...I am sure Thomas will be fine hanging with Mommy.

I was supposed to go for a cut and color today but I think I will cancel. I hope the girls on Sunday do not think I am Whiskey Tango.

Dinner will be the pork chops from yesterday...we wound up getting pizza for the boys and I had left over lo mein.

I hope everyone is doing well.

The boy was fine this morning and off to school no probs.

I do think it was just over tiredness.

Thanks for all your concern.

I have to tell youse about my dream last night.

I was in our local store when two men in black style dudes asked me to follow them.

They took my cell phone and gave me a iphone type thingy,a gun :eek:and shades :cool2: and said " This is your time "

Apparently when I was in hospital a super spy micro chip was put in my brain and this was my mission.

I dropped my bread and milk and suddenly started running Olympic speed home.

On arriving home I took a brief case out of my oven :confused3 and it was full of spy gear.

My iphone started beeping and a message came up saying...

MARIA : LONDON : DANGER !!

Maria had arrived early in london and she was in trouble and I had to save her.

I jumped in my Jet in the back yard and headed off....unfortunately my sense off direction is bad ( you would think the micro chip would have help that but no ) and i got lost.

I landed in Texas.

Then spain.

Then China.

I was shouting " geez all this technology and not a GPS !! "

Then I woke up........:confused3

Have a good day lassies BBL X

I'M BUILDING AN ARK!!

Anyone want to join me? OMGoodness this needs to stop NOW!! This is the 11th day of rain, dreary skies and cold. The ground is so wet that it just can't take anymore. Our grass and flowers look great but enough is enough.

I got packed somewhat last night so at least I am on track with that. The boys are supposed to golf tonight - we shall see if the weather cooperates with that. I hope to get the rest of the wash finished then we can decided on what for them. I really need to be packed (mostly) by the weekend as we have a 75th Birthday party on Saturday and a surprise 50th on Sunday. Party weekend. YEA!!!

I haven't had time to sit at all, even at work, as we are getting ready for our Churchwide Garage sale. So any spare time I have I am in there. All the money this year will go to Doug and I to take to Panama on our Mission trip. How cool is that?

I need to read back. I have skimmed a bit. I have some time today so I hope to get all caught up. I will BBL

Oh yea - WFDT - Turkey burgers - if it is still rainning and the Boys don't get to golf - if they do get to go then it will be just me and I will have a piece of Salmon with steamed veggies. The Boys DON'T do Salmon. :rotfl2:

Thanks everyone for cheering Liam with me. I hope you don't mind the baseball updates. I'm just really happy he is having a good season this year. I also like his team and coaches. They may not win all their games, but all the kids are kind to each other and cheer for each other, and the coaches encourage all the kids, not just the good players. It's nice to see.

We love to hear how he is doing with his games!!!

Marisa~ Ice, ice, ice your knee! Have to be ready for Sunday!

No worries! I wouldnt miss Sunday for anything!

Marisa--sorry to hear about the surgery. If it makes you feel any better the first time I was playing Wii tennis I landed in the fireplace--luckily there wasn't a fire burning at the time.

The fireplace?:scared1: That could have been dangerous if the fire was burning!!! My fear is that the wiimote will go right through the TV when Kady bowls. She comes close!

Although I spent more time watchin and cheering a wee lassie in his class.

The wee scones parents are not the best to put it mildly ( drugs ) and she has a hard time of it.

She has come to school many times having had no breakfast and my sister suspects not a great meal the night before either.

In first grade she turned up one day still in her pj's because she had no clean clothes to wear.

My sister and the other parents have helped in little ways like paying for school trips and activities for her so she doesnt miss out.

The wee scone basically brings up herself and all thing considered she is doing a great job because she is a wee darling.

That is heart breaking :sad1:

Take it easy and rest. I will say tried and true that Excedrin back and body is a lifesaver! I use it when my back spasms and get quick relief! Feel better.

:cheer2:YEAH!!! Great news!!! :cheer2:

Dont forget to check in and I cant wait to see you on Sunday!!!

I am leaving work early today to go and pick up my new kittens! I got a call yesterday from the shelter that the vet said they are now ready to come home with us! I couldnt pick them up before the shelter closed yesterday so I cant wait to go get them today. Kady almost had a heart attack at Nan's when I called to tell her we they were ready to come home. I will take pictures and post them tonight! I cant wait!!!

Their names are Yoda (:yoda:) and Kaia (:cat:) Kady made them a banner last night that said welcome home Yoda and Princess Kaia we love you! She is so cute!

Have a great day!

Lauren - Hoping you'll feel better by Sunday!

Vicki - What a crazy dream, too funny! Glad "the boy" is better.

Ellen - Hoping the rain ends soon, that must be a soggy mess.

Marisa - Kady is so darn sweet, enjoy the kittens!

kingcrab - great pics, have a safe and fun trip!!:thumbsup2

Sheryl -- I hope you are feeling better today.

Kathy -- The recipe you posted sounds really good.

Glynis -- I'm enjoying reading your trip report. The Grand Canyon photos are breathtaking!

Bethany -- Don't worry about keeping up. You have a lot going on right now.

Lauren -- I'm sorry to hear about your back. Those baby carriers are brutal. And like others have said, the answer is no.

Ann -- I'm so happy your mom got good news.

Vickie -- I'm glad your boy is feeling better this morning.

Gretchen -- :yay: for Patrick! I know he was working harder so he didn't need to attend summer school, so I'm glad he met that goal. Congratulations to Amanda on the terrific report card. I hope all goes well at the doctor's today.

Marisa -- Kady is so cute. Enjoy playing with the new kittens.

Ellen -- It hasn't been raining that much here, but it has been dreary all week. I am ready for some sunshine.

Kingcrab -- Have a great trip!

I'm not feeling that great today. I don't know whether it is allergies or a cold, but it is interfering with my ability to do much today. The school conveniently scheduled band sign-up for next year from 5-7 pm, so I'm not sure what we're doing about dinner. The kids are getting tired of takeout.
