The What's For Dinner Thread - May '09(recipe index in OP)

Kat- I am so glad that Kyle is happy again! after the last year you have got to me beaming!!!!!!!!!!

Bethany- don't worry about posting to all of us, it is not a big deal. We know what is going on right now and just like to hear from you!

Ladies, wish me luck! If a friend of Buddy's can commit to working for us this summer I will be all set. We are not sure if he can but we are working on it. Not just for a F&W trip, although that really has my incentive strong, but to take the stress off of Buddy. We are so small that full time help is not an option, but in our area everything happens at the same time so the same folks are at a premium. We can get help but only when these guys can leave their home farm. One full time guy who can be left alone is the difference between Buddy taking a day off and his worrying that darn phone all day long ( who gave him that cell phone anyway?????:headache:) Anyway, knowing that he has a support at home makes it easier for me to get away without feeling like I abandoned him.

Hey! Quick check in...things with Mom are going OK...dinner will be burgers and I am not sure of sides.

Hope everyone is well. I should be able to catch up tonight.

Don't worry about catching up, if anything major happens I'll be in touch. I'm so glad everything is going well with Mom.

Hey y'all I need some help. Kyle's birthday is coming up and he wants an Oreo Dirt Cake, which I've never had or heard of. I've googled it and gotten some variations of it, anyone here experienced with it?:confused3

Kathy You could use my Melted ice cream cake and then frost it and top it with crushed oreo's(dirt) For the ice cream just use a premium cookie and cream flavor.

I used to have one at home that was a mix of cream cheese, margarine, chocolate pudding, cool whip and was layered with Oreos.:cloud9: I'll have to see if I can find it, it used to be stuck to the fridge with a magnet.

Some people make it in a big flower pot and add gummy worms and plastic flowers and it's served with a trowel.

This sounds similar to some of the ones I've seen, if you have it and recommend it, would you please post it?:flower3:

OREO DIRT CAKE
1/2 stick softened butter
8 oz. cream cheese
1 c. powdered sugar
1 lg. pkg. Oreo cookies, crumbled
2 sm. pkg. vanilla instant pudding
3 1/2 c. milk
16 oz. Cool Whip

Blend first 3 ingredients together in large bowl. In medium size bowl mix pudding and milk until thick. Add pudding mix and Cool Whip, gently folding in Cool Whip. Make layers starting with 1/3 to 1/2 of cookies. Pour over some of pudding mix; then another layer of cookies, then another layer of pudding mix.

KATHY This is a recipe I found it looks pretty easy :thumbsup2

I think this is the one that I have used. It was so good! You can make it in a clean new beach pail or a clean flower pot. Use the beach shovel to serve. If you use a flower pot be sure to add a few gummy worms peeking out of the top.

Dinner was grilled salmon and grilled chicken. steamed green beans, baked potatoes and a salad. Donny hates salmon so the chicken was for hi, He came to install skype on my computer so I can tallk to the kids. Gail said that Timmy's roommate has skyoe so she got to talk to him today! :yay::yay:
He gave her a tour of his room, which she said was sloppy, and introduced her to his roommate and his Master sergeant, examined his feet :scared::scared:and told him he had an infection or celulitus ...MS told him he was being dragged to medical....and then asked him if he told his buddies that he used to name his toes :lmao::lmao:"Remember Bumpy?" All in all...he is glad that he is in Iraq now......he remembered how is Mom teases :rotfl:

I can't wait to see those glasses and pitcher again. I can sure use one of them now!

My mother is now reading her book out loud...I guess its better than asking me the same question a million times!

:wizard: Here's hoping Ace finds a new home tomorrow.

Aimee - I hope that Ace can find a forever home! He needs it and so do you.

Aimee, hoping Ace finds a good home this weekend. He was very lucky to have you on his side.

Aimee- add my :wizard: to the rest in the hopes your cutie Ace is adopted today!

Thanks all! He did good at the event but didn't find his family yet. They took some pics to list him online and they have adoption events the 2nd and 4th Saturday of every month and he's welcome to come. I need to check my calendar and see how many we can make!

I hope it works out!!

I am very tired; Ace didn't do as well when I was near him - they are in crates so people can actually see them and know they are up for adoption but he just whined, cried, and tried to get me to rescue him. So, I decided to leave him there and go into work for a few hours and they said he did calm down once I was gone. Since I'm moving offices, I spent 3 hours moving furniture and books - man, I'm out of shape!

After that, we (me and a colleague) were supposed to take the new pastor's kids out to get to know them but somehow wires were crossed and we were stood-up. So, since our hubbies were out together we decided to see a movie. "Up" was sold out so we saw "Angels and Demons." It's a movie grill so we ate there.

Tomorrow is a big day for our church! I would :lovestruc if this vote was unanimous.

Wow! Everyone must be busy bee's today! I am usually the last to check in on Sundays

Today was a great morning - we have a new pastor! No surprises, no huge scene, and no press that I could spot. Nice to have a calm and rational church vote for a change. :goodvibes

Tonight I'm making three bean stew with some bacon and chicken mixed in - you know, DH can't eat anything vegetarian
