The What's For Dinner Thread - May '09(recipe index in OP)

Hey ya'll....... sorry I've been MIA, but I've just been kinda bleh.........and didn't want to be a downer to me and everyone else. I'm not sure what's up.

In Michigan again so no cooking really, all microwave kind of stuff. Nothing exciting.....

Oh well, off to read and see if I can catch up on what everyone's up to!

;)

Hey all,

Laura, Yes I was feeling cooped up!

Kat & Maria, I did consider going to the dr's as a real outing! I thoroughly enjoyed just riding in DD's car!

and I've come back with good news! I am doing very, very, well! So some restrictions were dropped! I can get in a car! :woohoo: I could also do neighborhood driving if I feel safe driving with the brace on. ( But I don't think I will, not yet anyway.) I can blowdry my own hair! :yay: Sounds crazy but believe it's a big deal to me & DD who's been coming over to do that for me. I can even do gentle swimming as soon as the wounds are healed over. They are almost there probably 3-4 more days. Still no lifting or heavy housework :yay: yeah for no housework too. They said I would be in like the top 2% of quick recoveries that they've witnessed. She did give me a few warnings to be careful, where the brace, no extreme movements, etc. The bone graft will take several months to "take" & up to a year for total healing. Still I was very excited about all of it. I even did a happy dance in the office! :dancer:
So DD & I celebrated with a trip to WF (it's near the dr's office) & out to lunch for sushi. Felt good, but I am tired now.

On the insurance stuff, the dr's office is going to immediately file appeals & I will too. :headache:

Ellen, I'm enjoying your trip report! I don't know how in the world you managed all of that right before leaving!

Nancy, I'm going check out that wine stuff! I'd like to try it. Bob & I brewed beer years back. It was very good & fun. Since I'm now more of a wino than a beer drinker, I should try this!

Dinner might be somewhere OUT OF THE HOUSE!! :goodvibes

Hey Girlfriend, You are never a downer! We always miss you when you're not around.

Lori - As Sheryl said, you're never a downer with us, stick around and chat.

Ellen - Loving your TR!!!!!!:thumbsup2

Sheryl - So excited for you and the progress you've made!:goodvibes

I am doing very, very, well!/QUOTE]

That's great, now don't overdo it!

Not sure what I am having for dinner tonight, I am going to my sisters in VA and had pizza for lunch today. We took a group of kids bowling so I got lunch there instead of eating my tuna sandwich, I should probably eat that.

My sister had to call me. My DN, the 5yo, told her to call and find out when I was getting there and was watching out the window for me.

You all have a good weekend and I will probably see you on Sunday night unless I can get on at my sisters.

Ellen Yup I'm in Illinois in the western burbs of Chicago. We didn't have that storm that was in the news last night. That was nearer to Ohare and northeast. I could see the dark sky.

Lauri Our weather is kind of cool and wet lately. We are supposed to get some thunderstorms later tonight so hold on they may be coming your way.

Lori Sorry you got the Blahs. They attack everyone now and then. Hope you are ok though. Glad to hear you are back to traveling.

Sheryl I'm glad you are feeling so good. :cheer2:

Sheryl so glad you got out of the house. Excellent doctor news.

Nan, they will schedule Lily for her eye appointment after her recheck in 2 weeks. Can't wait to see a photo of Kady's beach there.

Ellen, love the tr so far!!!

Ellen On my next trip I need to hire you to write my trippy.:thumbsup2

We are grilling hamburgers tonight. It looks like the rain will be later tonight :worship:

Ellen -- Looking forward to reading more of your TR.

My realtor and I both said we're going out and kick back a few...:drinking1 immediately following the closing!

Sounds like a good plan! You deserve it. How is Kyle doing this summer? Is he still umpiring or playing for a team? I haven't seen any of your baseball updates recently.

Hey ya'll....... sorry I've been MIA, but I've just been kinda bleh.........and didn't want to be a downer to me and everyone else.

Lori, I never think you are a downer. Everyone has down cycles. I'm glad to hear from you again.

I've come back with good news! I am doing very, very, well!

That is so great, Sheryl! I hope you got your dinner out.

My DN, the 5yo, told her to call and find out when I was getting there and was watching out the window for me.

So sweet! Have a great weekend!

I ended up getting flounder at the market today. I pan fried it, and served it with an avocado salsa, cole slaw and broccoli. It was yummy. The market had striped bass today , so that is tomorrow's dinner. Becky and I are going to see Harry Potter and we'll have family dinner and a sleepover after that. I probably won't get back on until Sunday. Have a great weekend, friends!

I was wondering if that was the way they were going.

He finished up with both umpiring and playing two weeks ago. Now we're getting everything together and ready for his move in three weeks....:sad1:

We had rain tonight like Ive never seen before.

The drops were like boulders....and my boy had great fun round the back garden ,singing and dancing and getting soaked to the skin !!

Got tae love boys !!!

Maria - I would have loved to have breakfast with youse guys but my commando style WDW schedule just doesn't allow it.

I'm still wide awake, due to opening the mail this evening and seeing the insurance papers for my surgery! :headache: I don't know why we pay for medical insurance. They are supposed to cover 70% but they are paying only about 25%!!! "The charges exceed the allowable limit" Right so a carpal tunnel surgery & a discectomy, bone graft & fusion is supposed to cost only $4000! Yeah right in another world! Sorry I'm venting, but now I'll go take my meds & go to sleep. Night Y'all.

Appeal it!

Good news DSIL is finally home. It is spinal arthritis. She has Dr. appointments over the next couple of weeks with her GP, and a back specialist to plan a treatment method. They sent her home on Oxycontin and an anti-inflamatory. She sounded so much better just to be home. She was telling me alot of her increased pain was do to delays in receiving meds on time because of staffing issues. :confused3

I'm so glad they have a diagnosis and treatment - grr on the staffing issues.

We had a fabulous day out. Had lunch at Red Robin (never been, but there was one close to the mall) - it was tasty but PRICEY! $9 for a burger and fries?! :confused3 We split a burger and it was the perfect amount.

Then hit the mall, where I did a little damage :rolleyes1 Then saw Harry Potter. Now home with 2 Redbox movies. I plan to make pancakes and bacon for dinner.

I is going by fast.

We had some really loud storms last night. I would have loved to sleep in this morning but 2 dogs needed to get up at 5:30. I have been drinking coffee and laying around. I better get myself in gear and clean up this place.

Tonight we are grilling steak and veggies.

We are going to Sturbridge Village today (http://www.osv.org/), then out for dinner.

Trying to make the most of DH's weekend off.

We rain and thunder storms last night...have a great day everyone.

WFD - Seafood gumbo and potato salad.

Good Morning! Sorry I have not been around much...it seems I check in and then something happens and I cannot post. All is good here and I hope every is having a great weekend so far. Andrew is by his Dad this weekend and the baby, well, he is just perfect! He is such a good baby; we were truly blessed. When we tell him to get our nose, he now grabs it and then expects us to say "beep beep" too cute!

I have not been cooking lately...Thursday was the diner and then Tom was off to Pittsburgh, last night was Chinese take out and tonight Tom wants to take me to this restaurant that a friend told him about that overlooks a golf course. It should be nice...Tom is willing to eat on their patio which is a big leap for him...he does not like to eat outside.

Have a wonderful day everyone!

Aimee- I love RR but Buddy hates walking in that door! I am embarrassed to admit that I can eat a whole burger and demolish my fries! And he ends up ordering onion rings so I work on them too. Now Marisa spoiled it for me by telling me that one of their burgers is about 35 points :scared1: so I avoid it. Kady asked to go the other day and I had a salad which was good but expensive. Funny that I would pay for a burger and not blink but pay for salad gracefully? No way! :rotfl::rotfl:

We used to take Kady because she loved it but picture Buddy grumbling that he is paying $18 for a burger for an hour, all the while adding on to the bill because he is hungry!

I love SV! Have fun!

Good Morning! Sorry I have not been around much...it seems I check in and then something happens and I cannot post.

Stop worrying and enjoy your beautiful family!

Dinner last night was a letdown. Marisa, Kady and I decided to get dinner out and went to a pizza place on the lake. You know when you walk in and you don;t want to eat there, but heard the food was good? So we got take out and decided to eat at home. :scared: Never again!

DInner issupposed to be grilled chiocken, a green veggie (I have aslparagus brocolli and green beans to choose from) baked sweets adn a salad. YUM!

I am also going to make cocktails to enjoy on the porch before dinner and maybe some Nuvo or Rosa after.
