The What's For Dinner Thread - May '09(recipe index in OP)

Good Morning Everyone!

Ann, I am so sorry you are still here:sad2: Baby Emma is making sure everyone knows who is in charge!

I am feeling alright. I get tired easy though. Yesterday I felt better but I think I tried to do too much. I feel like a lazy slug sitting around doing nothing, so i am getting ancy. So when Jeff woke up I asked him to take me with him to Petco.

I went in the store but ended up going to sit in the car because i got tired of the crutches. We went to Barnes and Noble after that. I went in but I sat in one of the chairs and relaxed while Kady looked for a Hannah Montana book. He went into Big Y by himself and Kady and I stayed in the car.

When we got home I was exhausted. I am going to a picnic today, but I am just going to relax.

I hope everyone has a great day, and I will catch up tonight!!

BYE!

Baseball update: Liam's team won! :cool1: They all played so well today. There were a lot of key hits and some good plays. The MVP of the game (unofficial, based on spectator votes) was Liam! :woohoo: He came in to pitch in the third inning with the other team ahead 1-0. Over four innings, he struck out nine, walked two, allowed one run (after his team was ahead 4-1) and made a terrific defensive play where he stabbed a hard shot up the middle, fell to his knees and fired to first base for the out. His teammates all swarmed him after he struck out the last batter to win the game.

They play for the AL championship Monday!

.

Again..:confused3 but :cheer2:

Good luck on monday Liam !!

Sending love over the water (as Vickie says;))

Love it....

One day closer to being induced :woohoo:. At least I am getting some full nights sleep in while I can.

Now thats the right attitude !!

Maybe thats what Emmas doing too....

I met with my cousin this morning.

She is 6 months pregnant with her 2nd....no 1 being 23 !!

I think I told youse about her.

She has not had an easy life but she is now with a lovely (younger ;)) man and is just so happy.

I love seeing her in such a good place.:cloud9:

Hope youse all have a good day lassies...BBL x

Good for her!!!!:thumbsup2

But since the floor guy didn't show up  I'm going to settle for whatever I have in the cabinet.

Thanks to everyone for the kind words about Tory. She really is a love. Kenny never really had a dog growing up and always wanted one. Since we got her he has made the comment several times that he never imagined he would love a dog as much as he loves her. I'm sure you all can tell from the picture of the two of them together that the feeling is mutual. :lovestruc

I can't believe the floor guy pulled this stunt again :mad:

It is so easy to see how Kenny feels about Tory. I think animals know when they are loved and return that affection. She is a beautiful dog with the prettiest eyes :cloud9:

The family interested in Ace didn't get back to me today so if I don't hear from her by the time I get out of church tomorrow, I'll call and see if we can get together tomorrow afternoon. I leave town again on Tuesday so I'm anxious to get at least a meet and greet scheduled before then if I can!

I hope that there was just a misunderstanding and it all works out for Ace

:surfweb: Morning all...still here.

:confused3 Girls!

Good Morning!
Mom went home so I have been unwinding

Don't worry about your weight, you look beautiful! I am glad you all survived the week.

I am not sure I could adjust to a new baby after 23 years but if your cousin can I agree, Hats off to her!

Take it easy lassie...

Thanks for telling her, she won't listen to me!

Maria- I miss you but I am so glad that you are having a good time!

We had such a nice time at my husbands cousin's 30th anniversary brunch. It was in East Haddam next door to the Goodspeed Opera House. Yup, just what Buddy wanted...to remind me that I have never seen a show there :rolleyes1. This was an old inn and it was lovely. Michael and Sarah live in CA yet their DD was able to surprise them :worship:. The food was good and the company was better. We intend to get together with them and one more cousin and wife for dinner on Friday. I hope Friday, I have Nola ther rest of the week.

I am not sure what is for dinner, neither one of us is hungry yet.

Hello, I am home! FL was good but hotter then the hinges of Hades! :scared: You know it's hot when you are sweating like a pig at 9am, standing still, in the shade.

Wasn't able to get on the computer while I was there, it took my DM until Tuesday to figure out the internet connection.

Didn't get to meet Ellen, I forgot take her phone number with me and then with the heat zapping every brain cell I had I didn't think of it until Wednesday. :headache:

The trip started with what I was worried was going to end with the entire airport being evacuated. :scared1: The security line I was in came to a complete halt and on a TSA agent walking around with a bag saying "who's bag is this" and no one was claiming it. Finally someone in the lane next to ours realized it was an older gentleman who for some reason had put the bag on one security belt then went to the next line over. To top it off it had liquid meds in it and it was leaking.

Going back to try and do a little catch up and I'll have more of a trip report later.

Afternoon ladies! Just came in to check on Ann. Sorry to see Baby Emma is still being stubborn. Hugs to you!

WFD tonight is a frozen pizza for the troops and I'm having fruit and yogurt. It's so blasted hot I hate cooking. Also, my appetite is zapped.

I've been spending the day trying to find a lakehouse for us to rent this coming weekend. DH has thurs-sunday off so I thought we could have a mini-vacation. He immediately wants to head to Florida. I reigned him in a bit and we're just gonna head to Hot Springs. Love my DH, but sometimes he's a bit off his rocker!;)

Marilyn- welcome home! Sorry about the heat, it really can put a damper on a vacation

Stephanie- you gotta love that man! Have a great long weekend!

Ann- I saw that you had posted and zippes right over to see if Emma had sent you a message ;)

Dinner was a salad and leftover chicken for me, leftover steak and sweet potato and salad for Buddy. I was willing to cook but he was happy cleaning out the fridge adn I am alwasy happy with a big salad.

I can't help :lmao: when I say that...remember Elaine and "The Big salad" :happytv:

Kady called and was thinking of coming over but she got all weird when she discovered that we had already eaten. Why come over and then eat by herself :confused3? I asked if she was hungry, why no...she just ate at the party. So why not come over. Because we had already eaten. "Are you hungry?" "No we just ate." This conversation was like Groundhog Day...over and over :dance3::dance3::dance3:I told her I would come get her tomorrow and she could stay for dinner. She does not come over at night.....I am the day place. Her house is the night place. No way we can confuse that arrangement.....dinner is still :confused3 for me.

Ann -- I'm sorry you're still waiting.

Gretchen -- Grr on the floor guy. :headache:

Mom went home so I have been unwinding.

I hope you had a relaxing day.

She is 6 months pregnant with her 2nd....no 1 being 23 !!

Wow, good for her! I can't imagine having a newborn now, let alone when the kiddos are in their 20s!

Welcome back, Marilyn!

Stephanie -- You have a great DH! I hope you find a great place to stay.

I can't help :lmao: when I say that...remember Elaine and "The Big salad" :happytv:
:rotfl:

Caili skated great this morning. She placed third (out of four), but it was a strong flight, and since she only moved up to her current level recently, we were happy. It was a long wait between her individual skate and her team skate, so we didn't wait around to find out the team results, but if the team didn't get first, I will be shocked. They were awesome!

Greg made it home last night, so he was able to see her. We had fried clams for dinner...it was too late to cook by the time we got back.

Laura- Good for Caili!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm glad Greg made it home with no delays, how excited with the kids?

YAH for Caili:cheer2: Glad Greg made it home safely.

Nan - Happy to hear y'all enjoyed the brunch today!:goodvibes

Marilyn - Welcome home, can't wait to hear all about it!!!

Steph - Gotta love that man of yours!!!:thumbsup2

Laura - Congrats to Caili!!!:cheer2:

Here is a new pic of Thomas:

Cute!

That's as far as I got before I lost the connection to here! :headache:

My trip started Friday night. I went to a co-workers house for Bunco but we ended up just eating some really great Indian food and talking. The lady made chicken in yogurt, a whole baked head of cauliflower, paneer cheese and spinach, chickpeas, ground turkey with potatoes and peas, Roti (a thinner version of Naan) and a cooling sauce of yogurt, cucumber and tomatoes. It was all so good, spicy and yummy and we got a cooking lesson as well, she showed us how to make the Roti.

Afterwards I dropped off a friend at her car, drove home, packed up my car and my mothers and headed to VA. Got there after midnight, went in, got on my jammies and went to bed.

Thanks for the congrats for Caili! Greg took video, so I'll post it on FB eventually. I am so behind on that site.

Nancy -- The kids were very excited, although it was not a surprise. Caili was practically comatose this morning when I told her she needed to get ready to leave. She did manage to give Greg a hug though.

Greg's off loading photos of Airborne School on to his dad's computer. I take enough photos...I don't need his on this computer too!

Oh, and I talked to Becky tonight. She is back, but her luggage is not. :headache:

Oh, and all of you did such a great job sending Liam and his team luck yesterday, that I hope you don't mind doing the same tomorrow. They are playing the same obnoxious team tomorrow night. If Liam's team wins, they play for the minor league championship title. If they lose, they play the same team AGAIN on Tuesday. Liam is not eligible to pitch either game, but if they win, he will pitch the championship game Thursday. Fingers crossed!

I know you feel like life is passing you by right now but your life really WILL pass you by if you don't slow down and let your body heal  Snuggle up with some good books so you feel like you're accomplishing something.

Hello, I am home! FL was good but hotter then the hinges of Hades! :scared: You know it's hot when you are sweating like a pig at 9am, standing still, in the shade.

My mom is DYING right now. Course it was 106 this last week at camp with 90% humidity and I was doing that sweat in the shade thing. So. miserable.

Well, got a no on the family for Ace. They have two preschoolers and I thought he would be perfect since he's playful and active without being too puppylike (no accidents, doesn't bite, not that manic, etc). They decided they want a lap dog and he was too playful :confused3

I burst into tears when I hung up the phone - he gets rejected and I feel rejected

My life is completely NUTS! I am in the office on Monday and then leave town for a conference in Houston the rest of the week  Oh, and I was out last week with camp (and thus have PILES on my desk) and have VBS the next week. And the server at work is screwed up so my laptop is with the tech guy tonight in hopes I can get my files tomorrow... He promised to have it to me before tomorrow night so I can bring it to Houston with me. I will need to do some major work in the hotel room.

Tonight I had a meeting so I snacked there and got an iced coffee on the way home. I really hope to cook tomorrow night before we leave town.

Good morning!

Well, today is the day that I try and be on somewhat of a schedule. After dropping A off at rec, I am heading to the gym and then this afternoon, A, T and I will go to the pool.

Dinner will be meatloaf, mashed taters, french green beans and corn.

Ann, I hope you are doing well...maybe today!

Laura, Wishing Liam and his team lots of luck!

Marisa, take it easy my friend. I hope each day finds you better and better.

Aimee, hang in there my friend...it's like you are on a merry go round!

I know I missed alot but I will try and be better this week. Have a great day my friends!

Come on Liam :cheer2::cheer2:pixiedust:

Aimee I hope that family understands what a lap dog is. In my book it is half dead and not like "Yellow Dog" in Funny Farm. :rotfl: I had a Jack Russel once. I loved that dog so smart and funny but talk about active :scared1:

Stephanie You got to love a man that think Fl but not in that heat.:scared:

Ann Good luck today princess:

Last night we ended up grilling flank steak and had green beans, rice and mushrooms.

Hi!!!!!

I have an OB appointment today at 10:45am so we will see what the plan is.

Today is my Dad's 81st birthday. I think it would be kinda nice if I had the baby today and they shared a birthday, but the way things are going I doubt that would happen.

I am thinking she is still going to be stubborn and wait to be induced, hopefully tomorrow. The end is near!!!!

:)Ann
