The What's For Dinner Thread - Feb '09(recipe index in OP)

Getting ready to leave work and head home to make my appetizer's. Wish me luck! :)

Tonight Trader Joe's orange chicken brocolli and brown rice.

Sheryl I'm sorry you aren't feeling well. Hopefully the pain passes quickly.

I'm feeling achey I think it is because of the front that is moving through.

Kathy Does that cafe deliver? To Chicago? Their menu looks really good.

Glynis Greek sounds really good too:idea: Can you tell I'm hungry?

Merle Have fun tonight at drunko:laughing:

Lauren How is our smallest nephew? Is A still enjoying him?

Did I tell you all I am going to be a cousin again in September. My cousin in NY is pregnant. I am so excited for her.:yay:

Well, Greek didn't sound good to Alan, so we are going for Thai instead. Hope it's good! I really had my mouth set for Greek!

Tom did OK with the baby...says the baby was figity (sp) most of the time and he could not do anything else. :confused3 Baby is fast asleep now.

:thumbsup2

If I missed anyone please forgive me, as I said I'm medicated. Don't know what's for dinner. I had big plans, stuffing some baby artichokes with some kind of seafood stuffing. But that isn't going to happen today. If it's not storming I might get Bob to pickup something or I'll fix something easy!

Take care friends!

Just get some rest and I hope that you feel better quick!

I found their website and they have a pic of that wonderful salad on it:

Oh sure, now I want everything that kept dancing around on their website! Those pictures had my mouth watering.

Feel better!

Good news about the baby!

I have been cleaning cabinets all day long so I cannot even think about cooking :faint::faint: Buddy said he is not really hungry so he wants the rest of the egg salad and I am not arguing. I will probably have eggs but my plate is not going to be pretty like Becky's. Kady is on a play date and every one else is gone to the movies. I did make her cupcakes and decorated them according to her specifications so she was happy.

FIL called us early this morning. My MIL is resting comfortably in Vandy. She left for there before midnight last night and he is on his way up there now. I am sooooooooo thrilled she is up there. Our local hospital is the pits. You know how when you walk into a good hospital it usually smells like Lysol? You walk into ours and it smells like armpit. NOT good for a hospital.

Anyway, I will keep you guys updated.

Im so glad she got moved...hope all goes well !!

Is Nancy offering cleaning for cooking? I will cook anything she wants in exchange for cleaning!

I changed my menu tonight. The kids had banana/walnut pancakes and bacon, and I had risotto cakes and spinach gratin.

No luck tonight but it was fun. My appetizers were good. I cut the recipe in half, this makes 60.

Baked Artichoke Squares

2 cans (8 oz each) Pillsbury® refrigerated crescent dinner rolls or 2 cans (8 oz each) Pillsbury® Crescent Recipe Creations™ refrigerated flaky dough sheet
1 can (14 oz) Progresso® artichoke hearts, drained, chopped
1 box (9 oz) Green Giant® frozen chopped spinach, thawed, squeezed to drain
3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
2/3 cup mayonnaise
2/3 cup sour cream
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder

1. Heat oven to 375°F.
2. If using crescent rolls: Unroll both cans of dough; separate into 4 long rectangles. Place crosswise in ungreased 15x10x1-inch pan; press over bottom and 1 inch up sides to form crust. Press perforations to seal. If using dough sheets: Unroll both cans of dough; cut into 4 long rectangles. Place crosswise in ungreased 15x10x1-inch pan; press over bottom and 1 inch up sides to form crust.
3. Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until light golden brown.
4. Meanwhile, in medium bowl, stir remaining ingredients until well blended. Spread mixture evenly over partially baked crust.
5. Bake 8 to 10 minutes longer or until topping is hot. Cut into 1 1/2-inch squares. Serve warm.

Hi all. We're going out today.

About MIL:

We talked to FIL last night (hey, if I just call them Jan and Dewitt, can you guys follow easier? I feel hideous using acronyms to identify them!). Anyway, they now have a plan.

Beginning last night, they started a round of 10 days of chemotherapy, then they will give her 3 days rest. After that they will work on bringing her immune system back up. She is slated to be at Vanderbilt for 28 days.

They are happy to be up there and when we talked to them last night she was resting well and had slept most of the day, so that's good. Scott and I have decided not to go up there until she's done with the chemo treatments. She is not going to want to be around people, not to mention she may be in isolation anyway.

One of Scott's best friends from childhood lives in Nashville and she went and checked on them yeseterday. I was SO glad to hear she was able to see them yesterday and they were thrilled she did. Dewitt said last night he was going to call her here in a couple of days to see if she'd pick up a bathrobe of Jan. It's such a relief to have family up there and that they aren't totally up there alone.

That's about all for now.

Good morning everybody. I am planning to go to Pathmark (a normal-sized supermarket) today and also Panera for lunch. That was in the plans for last week but it didn't happen, so hopefully today I get my lazy self out of here LOL. I am out of coffee creamer so I need to go SOMEWHERE to get some!

Nancy[/B] I have cabinets and a pantry you can clean out. I can cook for you if you clean :rolleyes1

With my lack of cooking here lately I will gladly take you up on that offer :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Nope, I'll hunt you down woman......;)

You never need to hunt me down, I spend way too much time visiting here. My DH is probably the one who feels like I need to be coming out of "hiding" :rotfl2:

Banana pancakes? Have cleaning rags......will travel......

. Anyway, they now have a plan.

It is good that they now have a plan to get through this portion of the treatment. Now they can concentrate on her health and not be distracted about how to move forward. They are in my prayers still.

I am not sure what to do today. I have a list a mile long, Buddy and Dan are going back in the yard when Dan gets out of work and Buddy comes home from the farm. In the meantime everyone else is going to the movies to see Monsters vs Aliens late this afternoon and they want me to join them. I feel guilty though, Buddy will never make it. He said not to worry about him but I'll see how he is later. If he is going to just crash I'll go, if not I'll stay home and make something to eat.

Have a great day!

Good Morning!

Lindsay, Glad things things seem to be falling into place for your MILs treatment. How is she feeling?

Sheryl, Janice, Scotlass and everyone else under the weather...I hope today finds you a bit better! Scotlass, please don't go MIA. Kat will indeed hunt you down. We are all here for each other.:hug::hug:

As far as clothing, I hate to buy alot since I need to lose some weight. I have about 8#s to go for pre-pregnancy and then have to lose about 30 more (3 more weeks until I can start slowly on the treadmill). I got a pair of basic black capris and a Liz Claiborne lightweight sweater and a Tommy Hilfiger colorful blouse. All things can be mixed and matched with jeans and shorts. Since I stay at home, that is what I like to try and buy. My days of dressing up are long gone. I just finished getting rid of all the suits I had when I worked for Anne Klein (prior to Andrew). I was hanging on to so many things that will never be my size again.

Not sure about dinner...I never cooked last night so we will probably have burgers for lunch. Andrew has another scrimmage today and its during dinner time (don't cha hate that?) and he has been asking for pizza so that will probably be dinner.

Have a great day all!

Oh, Schmoopy (One of many nicknames for Tee Tom, aka hambone, chumbawumba) let me sleep until the sun came up. He woke up about 4:30ish and I took him into bed where he fell asleep until about 8!!! :yay:

Lauren--glad you got some good sleep last night!

bigmerle--those appy's sound yummo! Like spinach dip in phyllo.

Lindsay--glad they have a plan for MIL and that you have someone in Nashville that can visit and give you updates. Prayers that the first round of chemo works wonders!

Not sure WFD tonight. The kids have multiple bday parties to attend today. One of them goes until 7:30 and they are serving pizza, so that might be dinner.
