The What's for Dinner Thread - August 2014 (recipe index in OP)

Good grief it's Friday again. The days and weeks sure go fast. Pretty soon it will be Christmas.

Alison ~ You are so right!! I should have used the comma. Sorry for the mix up. I bet you thought I was crazy!!
I leave the house every day at 7:30am and after work I go to the YMCA and usually don't get home till around 5pm. And when I get home I am starving, so having dinner ready in the crockpot is wonderful. I try really hard to put healthy and good meals on the table - Doug is not picky at all - for us to eat and when I plan out my meals it is so much easier.

I am off at noon today. We were suppose to be going into Lincoln tonight, but Ethan is marching for band in the "Harvest of Harmony" tomorrow in Grand Island. And we can't miss that!! He is so excited. But since I already had the afternoon off I am still taking it. We are all meeting in Kearney tomorrow morning at Stephanie's for breakfast and then will head to Grand Island. As soon as the marches by Doug and I are heading to Lincoln. We have a 2:30 game so we will have plenty of time.
We have a guy coming this morning to measure for our new carpet in the bedroom. They are laying in next Thursday. We are taking next Thursday and Friday off and moving back in. I cannot tell you how excited I am.

WFDT ~ We are going to the tailgate. Ethan plays on the Legion Pony league (baseball) and they are doing a fundraiser. They are serving hamburgers, beans chips and brownies. Then we are going to the Football game.

Well I guess it's still just us, Ellen!

I don't know what we've been doing to make me so tired, but yesterday we got home from running errands and we had picked up dinner on the way home, and I practically wanted to pass out. We opened packages for a couple hours after I had my breakfast. I packed up four packages that we sold on eBay. I went to the bank, dropped the packages off at Fed Ex and the post office. We went to the tailor and I left six dresses with him. They are all floor length dresses, but with the weight I've lost, they are dragging on the ground so he's taking anywhere from 5 to 13 inches off of each of them.
After the tailor we went to Lowes and picked up dinner. Fran had a Cobb Salad and I had a Salisbury steak. Tonight is band night so most likely we'll be eating drive through food.

ALison, tell me you did not pick up dinner Lowes or this is a different kind of Lowes than I am used to?

Well we are back, and life has been crazy since stepped foot back on American soil. Whew!
We are leaving again on Thursday for Alabama, going to the Texas A&M vs. Alabama football game. Roll Tide Roll!

Dinner last night was a taco salad, without any meat, so not really sure what makes it taco salad anymore, but that is what we call it. We use salsa for dressing and it has an avocado in it....

Tonight is roasted potatoes, and broccoli for me and throw in a Pork Chop for David

You're right it sounded like dinner came from Lowes! But no, we were in the parking lot at Lowes when I called Polly's ( a local coffee shop chain) and ordered our dinner to go.

Kimmar ~ I love the remodel. What a great job your DH & Son did. We remodeled our bedroom and have just now moved back in. But that closet.....oh my! You lucky duck!!

We have Bloodmobile here today and they are busy busy busy. But the smells from the canteen are making me hungry. Ethan's last football game is tonight and it's home. It is suppose to be really nice this afternoon so I am looking forward to going. We bought a new TV last night for the bedroom. It is a "smart" one so we stayed up WAY too late last night watching Netflix. I am a bit sleepy today.

We got a new TV back in March, and David is so "In Love" with it. I just showed him how to connect his phone to the TV show you can see everything up on the screen.

Good morning girls,

It was so hot here yesterday that at Ethan's game (which they lost :9) I got a bit sunburned. The temps. were only 68 but it was full sun and no breeze. We all were melting! We have a 2:30 home football game this week - we play Perdue - and it's suppose to be in the 70's and full sun. I really think I will get a pair of shorts or capris out and wear then to the game. Our seats are in full sun and if there is no breeze it will be miserable hot. I can't believe it is the middle of October and we are still wearing short sleeves and shorts. In years past we have gone to the game with coats and blankets. But I have also heard that this winter is going to be a rough one, so when I am complaining about the snow and cold, please remind me of the heat of October.

Brandi ~ I have to tell you a cute story. Elizabeth wanted a new TV for her kitchen so Doug and I bought her one, not realizing that it was a smart TV. On Saturday we went over to watch the game and Liam - now remember he is 4 - was in the kitchen, we thought watching the Disney channel. Nope he had gotten Elizabeth's phone and was streaming. It was an appropriate show but it blew our minds that he did it. Jay kept asking him, "How did you do that?" so Liam showed us. Now remember he is 4, we all just stood there with our jaws on the floor.
Yes we are undefeated. We play Perdue this week and we should be ok, but then we play Ohio and then Wisconsin. So we shall see. We are a completely different team than we were last year. Coach Riley has done some amazing things here at Nebraska.

WFDT ~ I have no idea, we just might go out to eat. Sounds good to me!!

Liam is a boy after my own heart. I love technology (i better I make a living at it), and it is getting easier, but still have to undo a lot of thinking from the past. I think for the kids that have not known something it is easier then retraining the brain how to do something.

We are enjoying this warm weather also. I am NOT ready for winter.

Dinner tonight is Cucumbers, bell peppers, corn (mexican style) and Eggplant gratin.

I don't even know if I would know how to stream my phone to a TV. Our refurbished room has two smart tvs. But no jacuzzi tub.

I didn't have dinner last night. We grazed at 7 F&W kiosks and capped off the night before capping off the night at the Ditch. We had the trio of chips, guacamole, salsa and Queso. + a couple margaritas and a Tequila flight. Then we came home to watch the circus.

Today should be about the same except I hope that we get an afternoon break. We went straight through from noon to 8:30PM. We were both tired when we got back to the room.

Brandi ~ I wish I was more like you. I have a young man at the Verizon store that knows me by name. If I have done something or need to do something I take it to Travis. I always tell him, I know just enough to get in trouble. When he sees me he just smiles and says, "What did you do now Ellen?" He knows me so well, but is also very patient with me.

Alison ~ Your dinner sounds AMAZING. Even a not stellar dinner in Disney is better than ANY meal at home. I am so glad you are having fun and that Fran feels good enough to enjoy it with you. You are so lucky!!

Our weather is perfect right now. We got a nice little rain last night and it was so needed. The farmers didn't think so, because it will keep them out of the fields for a few days, but everything else loved it. Today is to be the coldest at 68 for the week. For the game on Saturday they are telling everyone to bring their sunscreen as it is to be in the upper 70's. All I know is I won't be freezing as I have other years this late into October.

I too enjoy coming here and catching up with us all, it makes me smile and start my day off right. Thank you for being a ray of sunshine also.

The bad part with being savvy is that I turn into everyone's "Travis". My Dad will call me and have me help one of his friends that is having trouble with something. Fixing things over the phone is not always fun!

I just helped my Dad two night ago remove a program that found it way "magically" onto my Dad's computer b/c he did not download it... lol

it helps me learn new things also, and brush up on customer service

We will be around 74 for the game. and sunshine, we have a 3:30 (eastern) start, when is yours?

We headed to a Vegan show today. Lots of merchandise....and raw foods. Some of it was even decent!

Dinner? Burgers! There's only so much clean eating I can do in a day.
