The What's For Dinner Thread - August '09(recipe index in OP)

Hey lassies...

Glynis - Still sendin love and good vibes for you and yours.

Kat - Good vibes for your boy too.

Ive just had the most horrendous visit to the dentist.

I had a tooth extracted and it was just awful.

Ended up with two dentists, broken root, drilling,a scalpel and I got in such a state I passed out in the chair.

Im going to have a good cry and head to bed.

Im still numb and my meds have kicked in but Its gonnae be sore...:sad1:

Might not be around so take care of you and yours.

Kinda in a funk but getting out of it.

I'm glad you're starting to feel better. Let us know if we can help!

Kathy -- Once again, good luck to Kyle today! :cheer2:

Vickie -- Ouch! I'm sorry you had to go through that. I hope it isn't too sore in the morning.

Glynis -- Continued good thoughts and prayers for your dad and you.

Thank you all for wishing Caili well. She is feeling much better this morning, so hopefully, she is on the mend. She is home from school today, so I am keeping her quiet and relaxed. If she feels okay all day, we may go to ballet later, but we are skipping skating.

Dinner will probably be sandwiches of some kind.

Good morning all

Good Luck today Kyle!!!

Vickie- At least the going to the dentist part is over, and you'll be feeling better before Disney and you won't have it on the back of your mind while your there.

Ann- Hope your feeling better soon, I was wondering where you have been.

Glynis- Thinking of you

Enchiladas for dinner (courtesy of old el paso kit) and I'll have to find something for the kiddo that she'll eat. Have a great day all.

Vickie- ouchie! :hug:That is why I got put to sleep for my tooth extractions, if anything like that happened I didn't want to know about it! :scared1:

Dinner tonight will be salmon, rice and roasted acorn squash.

Vickie, sorry you had to go through such an awful time with that stubborn tooth. Get some rest, and know we are sending lots of luv over to you!

Laura, glad Caili is on the mend. I am sure she is going to get alot of TLC today!

Robin & Laura, thanks just a mood I needed to snap myself out of. Stupid...felt like PMS on steroids! :scared1:

WFD- grilled pork tenderloin, rice pilaf, apple sauce, broccoli.

Ann - Don't worry about staying caught up here, I don't have any kids to take care of and I can't keep up sometimes.

Vicki - I'm so sorry you had such a horrible ordeal at the dentist. Hopefully the next few days won't be too bad. Hugs and prayers for you and just think about WDW.

Laura - Glad to hear that Caili is feeling better.

Thanks to all of you for the good thoughts & prayers for Kyle!

Glynis, I am sorry that your Dad's news was not as good as you had hoped. I am sure that his doctor will come up with a good plan of treatment. I'll be keeping you both in my thoughts.

Kathy, good luck to Kyle today!

Lori, nice to see you back.

Vickie, that sounds awful! I hope you are not in too much pain today.

Ann, I am glad you are feeling better today.

Dinner last night just ended up being sandwiches, no pics. I don't think tonight's meal will be anything special either, as I have a hair appointment after work.

I am lost on this thread lately because I stepped back from posting. I promise to get back in the swing of things with you girls. DH asked me what was new here and gave me a lashing when I said I really hadn't been reading and keeping up. I really need and appreciate all of you in my life. Kinda in a funk but getting out of it. Thanks for being my friends. :grouphug:

I think we all get into funks on occasion.

Ouch!! I hope your meds kick in quick.

Hoping Kyle does great today :dance3:

My momma flies back home this afternoon, I said goodbye to her this morning. :sad1: Having a trip scheduled to see her helps a lot.

We are likely eating out - DH doesn't have time today to grocery shop and we have no food. Maybe Taco Tuesday. Some friends asked if we wanted to go with them. They can feed their family of 6 for $9 so it works into their budget

Prayers for Glynis and her father and family.

And prayers and Good Luck to Kyle!

Vickie - Owwwwww. So sorry that happened to you.

Dinner tonight is a lasagna I pulled out of the freezer.

I am back from our house hunting/get Tom settled trip. He has a nice apartment for temporary living. Hopefully he keeps it tidy! We are thinking that we are going to build a home. The homes we looked at were nice but we can built for almost the same price. We put a hold on a lot and just have to work out some #s and relocation stuff.

Nancy, I am sorry that I missed your Birthday...I wish you all the best! I am glad you had a good day.

Vickie, Ouchie Wawa!!! I hope they gave you some good drugs. Try and take it easy.

Kathy, Good luck to Kyle! :cheer2:

Laura, Glad Caili is feeling better! I hope she continues to improve.

Marilyn, Awesome pics of Paula! I love her...I think she would be so cool to hang out with.

Becky, Congrats! I love that picture!

Ann, I hope you start feeling better.

Sheryl, I hope you're feeling better!

Maria, Glad you had a good trip. It sounds like you need a vacation after that!

***
Dinner tonight is Subway for Andrew...He has been asking for it for days. I will have a salad. I am trying to be good. I also have back to school night this evening.

I will try to BBL...why am I so unorganized?

Hey y'all,

Dinner last night was messed up! I tried doing the curried roasted sweet potatoes on the grill & burned them. The pretty little squash that I thought was acorn squash was probably meant for just decoration. It was very stringy & tough. The chicken that was meant to be durban spiced chicken didn't take on much of the seasoning. I know I didn't marinade it long enough. Oh well.

Thanks all, I'm feeling fine now! Getting super excited about our upcoming trip!

Ann, I'm sorry you're feeling blue. It's nice that your hubby thinks about us. But please don't feel like you have to stay caught up! I can't keep up & I don't have 2 babies.

Glynis, Prayers for your Dad & for his doctors.:flower3:

Gretchen, I'm glad to "see" you around here!

Vicki, OUCH! Oh you poor girl, I hope the meds work & you feel better soon!

Laura, I'm glad the little one is feeling better!

Aimee, I'm sorry your visit with your Mom is over.

Lauri, I'm glad you're arm didn't hurt! Bob got his yesterday & his arm was hurting, even though he said he didn't feel the injection.

Lauren, Building a new house! Well that's exciting!!! I'm putting your 3 products in the mail today.

Dinner will be a late, I'm going to a jewelry making class with my cousin. I think we'll have salad with chicken. I think I'll make that smoked paprika dressing, maybe that will give the chicken some flavor.

Vickie, you poor thing:hug: hope you are resting.

Lauren, glad to have you home. You have to many things going on to be organized.

Kat, what time will you be hearing from Kyle? Prayers continuing.

I have a little head cold so I'm being a bum, nothing will keep me from going to see Bruce tomorrow night:love:

Gretchen.... can't wait to see you!

Aimee, thinking of you. I know it's so hard when your Mom leaves.

Ann, feel better. You guys have had a rough:hug: time lately.

I'm clueless about dinner. Most likely something frozen from Trader Joe's.

Another quick fly by as I am really busy. I was never able to get back yesterday. But I promise I will today. Forgive me for not being a very good friend but prayers and good thoughts are with you all each and every day.

Well it is very cold here today. There is frost on the pumpkins for sure. I am so excited though, as this weekend I will can my apples. I love to wait until after the first frost as they just seem to be sweeter then. I make apple butter, applesauce and apple pies and filling. I have cleared my freezer for the pies and the shelves are ready for the jars. So I am ready.

Are any of you watching The Biggest Loser? Doug and I are, so dinner will have to be fast, easy and of course healthy. We are having Beef Kabobs, Brown rice and tomatoes with balsamic vinegar and feta cheese. I can't wait.

Make it a great day my friends. I will be back I PROMISE!!!

Ann- don't feel badly about keeping up, I am hopelessly lost lately and I have no babies home. The funk could be the change of seasons, I get affected too.

Maria- I saw that you saw 30 houses in 2 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG! What were you thinking???? I would be :confused3. Watch that cold it turns into

Sheryl- Glad you are better!

Kat- certainly prayers are offered for our Kyle! Let us know!!!!!!!

Glynis- Praying for good news!

Lauren- You are in for exciting times!

Vickie- OMG! What a terrible experience at the dentist

Laura- I missed what happened to Caili but have been watching the updates. I am so glad she is feeling better, poor baby!

Becky- I am not surprised that you would win a photo contest! I think you missed your calling. I watch Challenge where the food stylists compete for the prettiest pics and yours are way better!

Aimee- It is always hard to say goodbye after a visit

Dinner will be chicken and curried sweet potatoes. I also have an apple cake cooking off. If it is good I'll make one for Buddy to bring to work and will post the recipe.

Buddy had another appointment at the Dr for his back yesterday, he was in agony. The Dr gave him some creme to put on the muscle and is sending him for an MRI. She does not think it is sciatica but wants to see what is going on there. It radiates all the way down his leg and around his waist. Yesterday I canceled my hair appointment to go with him, scheduled it fro Saturday, and yup...........the MRI is Saturday at the same time I scheduled my hair. I am going to look like I got plugged in somewhere!

Ok, WOW after 6 pages and an hour of reading I feel I am caught up. I always say – NEVER again – and then I fall behind again. Oh My!!

Glynis ~ Prayers to your Dad. He has beat it once he can do it again.

Nancy ~ I am SO sorry that I missed your Birthday – HAPPY BIRTHDAY my friend. I hope your day was as special as you are to us.

Vickie ~ Oh my that sounds dreadful. I sure hope you are feeling better today. At least it is over and you now have WDW to look forward to.

Kathy ~ Good luck to Kyle! We are cheering for him!! I thought of you this weekend. I hope you had a nice time.

Laura ~ Glad Caili is feeling better! Nothing worse than when one of my babies is sick.

Ann ~ Sweetie, a funk is ok once in awhile but I am glad you are feeling better. How is the medicine working for Ron?

Marilyn ~ I am so glad you got to meet Paula. That is so cool!

Becky ~ I am not on FB but Congratulations for getting your picture published. YEA!!!

Laura & Stephanie ~ Very scary for your little ones. I am so glad the angels were watching over them.

Robin ~ I like being stuck with you!!

Lori ~ hi!!

Aimee ~ Having Mom leave is sad. I am glad you’ll see her soon. I pray that things work out for her.

Sheryl ~ I hope you're feeling better! How's our angel feeling these days? Tummy settling down some?

Maria ~ 30 houses – In 2 days - Are you nuts!! LOL That would have done anyone in, bless your heart. How’s Lily doing?

I hope I didn’t forget anyone. If I did I sure didn’t mean to. My old brain is mush at time.

I am so very jealous of you all going to WDW here pretty soon. I tried so hard to get there but it just didn’t work out, and maybe it is for the best as I hope to be able to share some really good news with you all pretty soon. I can’t now because I don’t want to jinx it. Stay tuned.

Also I wanted to say thank you to all of you that have sent care packages to Jay. He has received them and so appreciates all of the prayers and good thoughts. Keep them coming as it is still very dangerous where he is at. From the bottom of my heart – THANKS!!!!!!!!!

Lauren – You must be very excited about being able to build your new home exactly the way you want!:cloud9:

Sheryl – I’m getting super excited about our trip too! Have you thought any more about a gift for Brenda?

Maria – I probably won’t hear from Kyle until around 7 or 8 tonight, I’ll post as soon as I hear from him. I have to admit I will be shocked if he calls with good news, they are the national Champions after all. I couldn’t be more proud of him for trying though! Take care of yourself so you’ll feel better for Bruce.

Nancy – I know how agonizing back pain can be, I’ll be praying for good MRI results for Buddy.

I apologize if I've missed someone, I read through quickly.:guilty:

Ann -- Everyone has funks sometimes. You shouldn't beat yourself up about it. I'm glad you're back.

They can feed their family of 6 for $9 so it works into their budget

Wow! That is a good deal. I'm sorry you're missing your mom, but it's nice that you'll be seeing her again soon!

Lauren -- I don't know how you could be organized with everything you have happening. That is really exciting about the new house!

I'm going to a jewelry making class with my cousin.

Fun! You'll have to let me know if you get any good tips. I like to make jewelry, but I haven't had time lately.

Well, Caili spiked a fever this afternoon, so no ballet and no school again tomorrow. I'll call the doctor if she still has a fever in the morning. Now I have to go figure out dinner with the meager supplies I have in the house.

Laura - I'm so sorry Caili spiked a fever, thought she was getting well. I'd have her checked out if she's still sick tomorrow.

I took a ride this afternoon with my DM. We went to take Luke to see the horses but he fell asleep first. So DM and I went to the farm for veggies. I picked up wax beans, cauliflower, rainbow carrots, and corn. DH requested the beans tonight they are his favorite.

----------
Nancy, I hope Buddy gets some relief and answers with his back. Sending prayers for him and Marisa.

Ellen, we will know about Ron's meds tomorrow. He has his follow-up BP check tomorrow afternoon. Thanks for asking.

Laura, I hope Caili's fever breaks. Poor girl. Get well wishes to her.

Lauren, I envy you moving and building a new home, that is my dream someday. I would love to pick out and design our home. Hugs, I am sure you are going to miss having Tom around for now.

Marilyn, I love that you got to meet Paula. How cool!!

Aimee, thinking of you. Must be sad to see DM leave.

Kathy, looking forward to news from Kyle. We are proud of him either way. Make sure he knows that!

Maria, I hate being in a funk. People have alot more to stress about than me. I tend to keep things in, that is my problem.
