I keep thinking that she is so much older and being motherly toward him.... I am not sure I can see them "together." Hmmmm...

I think she acts much older than she actually is. I am guessing she married that creepy husband and had Sophia when she was pretty young. I do think she is older than Daryl, but not as much as it seems. I totally see them together, and think that's where it is going.

I don't think the age difference would look as great if she had longer hair. Also, her hair appears to have gray in it. In real life there is only a few years difference between the two actors. I totally could have seen Daryl kissing her during that emotional scene this episode. Sure, she does appear to be a more motherly type, but I think of it as more quiet/inward and capable of romantic love more than I think of her as only a mother figure. And of course, that compassion is a side that Daryl has never been shown, so it is perfect. I am sure he is wrestling with his past, as she mentioned.

The preview during the Talking Dead has me on pins and needles for next week. If you are watching this show you NEED to be watching the Talking Dead. A lot of the questions you all pose on this thread are answered there.
I can't stay up that late, share details please!

OK, holy cow, I just went and looked them both up and they are both much older than I thought they were! He is my age, and she is 4 years older. Wow!!! Not that that changes my previous thoughts on their age difference, and I think they would be very good for each other, but wow!

The Walking Dead is on too late for us, so we just DVR both and watch Monday night.

On the Talking Dead they did talk about expecting a big makeout session between Daryl and Carol. :rotfl:

I want to know more of Hershal's background! DH thinks maybe he's a former military man.

Hershal appears to be Vietnam Era aged so he may have some baggage from that. That would explain his shooting expertise. His daughter appears to be 23 or so and he drank heavily until she was born so that could go along with that.

I am disappointed nothing was said about the girl in the bed (sorry, bad with names). I am still thinking she has the virus but no one seems to think so on the show.

I think Hershel was in the military as well. I really like his character. I too believed his daughter had the virus but I didn't notice any scratches or anything on her arms so now I am not sure what is going on with her, maybe she is just in shock. I can't recall from earlier episodes if the virus was transmitted by scratches or just bites, does anyone remember?

Also I watched the webisodes and it seems as if in one of those a woman dies in a car crash and the next time we see her she is a zombie, so she seemed to have died from natural causes which would lend to the theory that everyone is infected.

I really cannot stand Lori or the blonde chick (I am blanking on her name right now) that is siding with Shane. I like Maggie though, I hope she and Glenn work things out, I think they are cute together.

I am not opposed to Carol and Daryl as a couple. I think she is stronger than I gave her credit for because I thought she was going to be a basket case after finding Sophia but she has really pulled it together.

In the preview to next week's show, Maggie is seen telling Andrea to "stay away from her". Which makes me think that Beth (the girl in the bed) has some issues other than shock... maybe she is turning. The preview blurb says something about Andrea helping Hershel's daughter with an important decision... so what is that decision, and which daughter does she help? I want to know!!

The webisodes have very little to do with the characters now. They take place very soon after walkers started emerging. The girl that gets into a car wreck is "bicycle girl", the torn-apart zombie who Rick meets very briefly in the very first episode of the show.

rick said he was saving the guy who was speared through the leg because he was a kid.

And how can anyone say if you are slow and not in shape you are expendable. So I guess shoot me now.

the talking dead does give you a little more info but they are so evasive. This past one Glenn (don't know his real name) was on it and he didn't really give you anything.

I don't watch Talking Dead, as much as I love Walking Dead, for that reason... they are so darn cryptic!

I've thought about it some more, and now that I remember last season, I bet Beth wakes up and is suicidal, and Andrea, since she was suicidal at the end of the last season, will probably help her make the choice to end her life. Bleh... it would be way more exciting if she turned. :)

wowsa.
I finally caught up and watched the first 2 episodes last night. I was not going to watch the rest of the season because I was not happy with what they did with Sophia's character, especially after dragging the search for her on for weeks, sucking us in to hope and then crashing us down when she walked out of the barn. I don't know if that happens to her character in the book, but I really really didn't want it to be what it turned out to be.

anyway, I only watched cuz hubby wanted to and I am back in. Rick in the bar with those two guys, you go Rick!! and boy that guy, don't know his name but he was Rene on True Blood, he sure plays a creepy character very well :rotfl:

so is the girl at the farm, hershels dtr going to turn? I think she is.
and does anyone else think Lori is encouraging Rick to kill Shane? she is a piece of work. she annoys the heck out of me.
she knows that is Shane's baby. uggh.
anyway, I probably won't watch right away tonight since Celebrity Apprentice is on, but I will watch later.

The part I still wonder about is if they knew there were walkers in the barn why didn't they check to see if Sophie was one of them. Hershel knew they were looking for a little girl. He has to remember he caught one. He wanted then gone so why not see if she was one they caught? Although it certainly would not have had the same impact on viewers as when she walked out of the barn. ;)

Hershel explained in an earlier episode that Otis was the one who was moving the walkers to the barn, so I assume he was doing it alone.

Guess I missed that. But still, why not look? :rolleyes1

Would seem to make sense to look in the barn, but as you said, it makes for better suspense and drama to let her stumble out of the barn.

Maybe, aside from Carol, everyone was in denial and wanted to believe Sophia was going to be ok when they found her, as the storyline seemed to be pointing when Darryl found the opened sardine can in the garbage can of that abandoned farm house.
