The walking dead amc #2

No one seems to like carl. I don't understand. While he's not in my top 5 as favorites, I don't hate him. I feel like I'm missing something with his character. If I read about him online everyone talks about how whiny he is and how they wanted him killed off. He seems to be the least whiny these past couple of seasons now that I'm paying attention. What am I missing?
Yes, Darryl needs a good shampoo.
And when will we see bad *** carol again? No one I talk to likes her and wants her killed off too yet I love her but only when she's bad *** carol.

I don't know why everyone hates Carl. I've noticed it too. I like him personally.

I like Carol. She's one of my favorites. But I prefer tough Carol too and hope they bring her back asap.

I like Carl and Carol too (but tough Carol, not lost her mind Carol). The PPP card, they said on Talking Dead, only Nicotero knows what it means. Really!!! How cheap and cheesy is that...gimmicky. Stupid Nicotero! I can't wait for next week too. This episode was a yawner, majorly. Oh, and...No it did not seem like Tara tonight. She is not a witty chill funny girl. The actress said on Talking Dead that a new director did this episode and he really nailed Tara's character, according to the actress. No, no he did not. That was so un-Tara like.

That's EXACTLY what I was thinking!

Who was this girl w/ all the funny little comments & "chill" attitude?!

And I agree... a boring episode.

However, when Tara was sitting by the ocean (bay, estuary... LOL!), & you could hear the sounds of the waves, it seemed so peaceful & calm. I wonder why more people/groups didn't end up settling by the ocean. That's where I'd go.

I also thought it was a little out of character for Tara with all the witty come-backs. She tends to be funny, but in a less forced, more understated way, like that time at Alexandria when Rick was saying something to her that she didn't like, and she tilted her head, gave him a death look then gave him the finger. That was funny, but without being forced.

I think the episode was just okay, I get it that they have to introduce this new colony, I just don't think they needed to dedicate a whole episode to it. They could have also focused on Alexandria or Hilltop as well.

I also feel a little cheated that the writers don't give us the characters reactions to things. I wanted to see Tara's reaction to finding out about Denise, Glenn and Abe. Not just a shocked face, then cut away. I wanted to see Maggie and Sasha talk about what happened that night, and Negan and all that instead of standing over the graves for a minute looking somber. I wish we got to see more emotion.

I haven't watched yet, and feel like I lost something in translation here -- but when did Tara separate from the group and end up so far away by herself?

Tara and Heath left right before the Negan line up and right after they killed all the people at the outpost. Their supplies, especially bullets, were running low so they had to go on a run. The actress had a baby so she needed a reason to be off for a while.

As far as tis new group... they are not in the comics. So it's interesting they added them. I like their little fishcamp by the sea. Though it had a Vietnam feel with all the bamboo growing around the cabins and that camouflage netting stuff. And it's probably supposed to be a VA beach area.

Tara is a character I don't know much about and have no connection with, so for her to have an episode alone was pointless for me. I won't be moved whether she lives or dies. That being said, I think they did add a new dynamic to her character with her lying to Rosita about not seeing any other guns/camps while on her run. I bet that comes back to bite her somehow, as I'm sure that won't be the last we see of the Oceanside camp.

I was a bit suprised when next week's preview said only 2 episodes left this year, before the mid-season break. I feel like all the episodes so far have been slow moving, a touch boring, and haven't done much to progress the storylines. Not sure how much they will be able to get through in these next two episdoes!

I suspect the mid season finale will be a cliffhanger of a plan being offered between groups. Though now that I think about it, they likely will drag that to the entire season finale. Sigh.

Most of the TV shows have aired their final episodes until January. I think WD does the same and will be back sometime in January.

The shows have been slow, but I think they are laying the ground work for the next half of the season, which hopefully will be more eventful. It was weird having Tara be the focus after her not being on the show for so long. I know she had to take maternity leave, but at least they could have had her on a run with a more known character.
Interesting this group isn't in the comics, so I guess they can go in any direction with them. I don't think Tara not saying anything about them will come back to haunt them, in fact I think it will help them at some point. At least I hope so, would be nice to see an act of kindness turn into something good instead of something bad.
Next week seems they will be focusing on Negan and Rick and Co., so hopefully it will be a better episode.

UGH, I am already growing tired of Rick grimacing and crying and wincing around Negan and Co.! They are making a killing on the red rim eye make-up for him LOL

I had read that this Oceanside group is in the comics. Supposedly Michonne is the one to first meet this group. Maybe someone who has read the comics can clarify?

I liked the episode. They are still laying the foundation. For me it is a marathon not a sprint and what makes the show good. If they just time jumped it would feel forced and we would have no real connection with the new communities who will play an important role in the power shift coming. I thought Tara seemed true to her character, didn't get the same take that some other posters got. I also like the unknown like the ppp card. It really makes you think what could it mean?

It is in the comics, but doesn't come in to play this early in the comics.
