The Villas at Disney's Grand Californian Owners & Lovers Group - 3.0

I meant hoping for walk in shower at Grand Cal vs the current shower tub combo. A lot of the newer resorts as you mentioned have the walk in shower in the studios which we prefer.
Sorry you had mentioned CCV in your post.

Even though VDH and PIT were built with walk in showers I don’t envision taking on the conversion of the tub to a walk-in shower on any refurb.

I thought these were only in the ADA rooms?
This one was a cash stay. I didnt book ADA and didnt notice it being different than a normal room. But it was a shower/tub combo. I remember it vividly because the sliding shower door would not stay shut.

The family’s with kids would scream bloody murder just like they do at VDH. The difference there is they have 253 studios at VDH to switch someone into vs VGC that has 23…..

If you really want a bathtub you need to pony up for a villa.

You can’t be serious? That’s not how construction goes. Think of how much downtime that would cost.

Different teams have their various jobs and they knock them out in batches.

1) Carpet, couch, appliance removal
2) Floor and new carpet install
3) Murphy install
4) New appliance install
5) Cabinetry repair
6) Install reupholstered seat backs on table in villas
Etc, etc.

Now….. SHOULD they have also removed the window from the bathroom to the bedroom, replaced bathroom fixtures, toilettes, tub, etc…. I would argue yes.

Let’s see what happens.
They can flip an entire house on HGTV in 60 minutes, why is Disney taking so long to renovate a hotel room???

The easiest way to find the exit to the PP entrance from the inside is to look for the signs for the laundry room. The exit door is right there- also the grills are right there too.

Are you able to re-enter through the exit doors with a room key? Also, is there a stairwell/elevator near by to get to a higher floor? Wondering if it'd be best to request a ground floor room, or if doesn't matter all too much.

In December, the doors by the grills seemed to be unlocked all the time. The VGC elevators were nearby. We would exit the park there, but back then, could only enter before noon.

Did anyone notice if they put the light up magnified mirrors in the studios during the refurb? They had them in the resort rooms when we have stayed there, but I was disappointed that the studios didn't have them. My eyesight isn't as good as it used to be and I rely on those to put my make-up on. I thought maybe our room was just missing one, so I called housekeeping and they said they don't keep extras around, which I assumed they didn't since the resort ones were mounted to the wall.

Not my photo but the kitchenette in a refurbished studio. Not even a new microwave?

Yeah…I had seen reports that appliances were replaced, but I definitely don’t think any of the appliances in our 1 bedroom were replaced. Certainly not the fridge as it randomly shrieks 😟 All my other refurbished home resorts have gotten the Keurig combo machines, but we still have the old machine just as is pictured in the studio above. 🤔

Yikes. I assume the appliances have got to be fairly old, right? Have they been replaced at all since the villas opened? (I mean, besides when they have been broken or whatever.)

Hmm....so are some of the murphy couches orange and some blue/grey? Maybe studios are orange?

I was in a second floor studio last December which had the same sofa bed as in the picture above. I did notice it as maybe different, remembering rust-colored fabric previously, and the cushions were a lot firmer than usual, I didn’t connect it to the refurb…

Yes unfortunately these murphy beds are a trade off.

They are great if someone needs it to sleep with compared to the old pull outs.
If you are just lounging around though they are certainly not as comfortable with the firmer cushions.

The one thing I love though is now you don't have to find a spot to put the cushions as they stay attached when you flip down the beds.
