Anyone know if there are real knives in the studios? Trying to figure out if I need to bring one. Thanks.

Do you mean a knife for food preparation (ie. Chopping vegetables, meat, etc.)? If so, there is not one. There are only plastic utensils like you find at quick service restaurants in the parks.

Not sure if I should start a new thread for this or not, but i did some math recently and found that VGC at $290pp is a better deal than VDH. Using the same points and same season... (apples to apples), not counting resale restrictions, or anything regarding location, etc.

Using this math...

With some stalking/walking, it looks like I'm going to be able to stay at VGC in January - I'm pretty frickin excited! I've always walked past the Grand Californian with a wistful glance. This will be our first time not on Harbor Blvd and while I'd still always consider those hotels for their convenience, it'll be awesome to hear "welcome home" at VGC, although it isn't our DVC home.

Hi all! Pieced together 4 nights in January by some miracle.

Family of 5 with a will-be 10 month old. What is the go-to place to stick a pack and play in the 1 bedroom? It looks like maybe it would fit in the master bath? Does it? Any other suggestions?

Master Bath is quite large, so a pack and play should fit. The ability to open/close the divider to the master bedroom might be useful. You may also request a crib.

There are two bathrooms in the one bedroom. You could fit it in the second bathroom off the kitchen. It’ll be tight- but Im pretty sure it’d fit and there’s a door. It would also fit in the master bath easily and you could use the second bathroom when the baby sleeps.

We went back in May and they were able to bring us a crib. I know Disney is trying to phase them out and will say they aren't available but if you call the front desk when you arrive I believe they'll still be able to bring you one. It fit easily on the side of the bed

Awesome! We also go lucky and were able to book 4 nights in a 2BR using some extra banked AKV points we had to use. If you happen to be there on January 6th you are welcome to stop by for some cake or food for our sons b-day party. He complains that he never get's a party as it's so close to the holidays so we are going to try and host one and bring family/friends in who live in So. Cal :)

I think she does most of the calculations for studios and those aren't as great vs suites. If you go for the larger rooms, the value is even stronger vs Grand Cal cash rates. I did some numbers when I first considered buying DVC and VGC points would still have okay value at $400 a point if you like staying in the bigger rooms.

Yea, my calculations were based on 150 points… just points, no room charts. So room selection can definitely change it for better or worse. I basically went worse case scenario and its even better for VGC for me because i wouldn’t be getting VDH at $210, they’d cost me the full $230 for a small contract (50-80pts)
So now i sit and wait for a reasonably priced small VGC contract or get tired of waiting and just bite the bullet. lol

Hi VGC family. I just posted in the Refurb Tracker thread about this but wanted to check in with my fellow owners to see if anyone else is showing April 2024 greyed out in the booking engine? It has been like this for at least 24 hours for all room types for me...

It’s been like that for a few days for me, but when I try to book it says it’s available.

Hi there! First stay at the Grand Cal approaching. I just did online check-in and there was a section where they asked if I would be bringing a vehicle (I am) and it showed a fee of $35 per night. I was under the impression that parking would be complimentary for DVC members staying on points. Am I mistaken, or will this charge just not appear on my final bill? Thanks :-)
