If nobody replies, maybe search #disneyland on Instagram and Twitter and see if there are public accounts you can follow? Or just follow that hashtag - I think there's an option to do that on Instagram.

Thanks. I do follow several Disneyland accounts. I don't seem to end up getting much in the way of Grand Californian content though. I guess maybe people just don't post their hotels much. Only 423 days until our next trip! Ha!

We've moved from "definitely buying" to "on the fence".

We want more Disneyland points so we can switch to 1BR for all of our stays and we're like 80% of a stay short with our current VGC points.

We could shorten our stays, add on to VGC, or we can add on at VDH.

Bulletpoint thoughts about where I stand about VDH:
  • The VDH points chart doesn't bother us
  • The first year dues don't bother us (VGC will be level in 2-3 years, DVC has slow-rolled dues increases at new resorts)
  • The upfront cost doesn't bother us
  • The tax is a bummer, and a shock, but the 'DVC math' still works
  • Disneyland Forever is an intriguing 'What if?' down the road that could improve VDH's location
  • We love VGC but hotel variety is a plus, and VDH appears to meet our minimum requirements for niceness
  • I'm concerned how hard it will be to book a VDH 1BR, even at 11m
  • Ironically, the time of year we're targeting I've seen VGC 1BR available in decent quantity at 7m, so I might even be able to switch to VGC at 7m somewhat regularly
My thoughts as well. I’m hoping I can snag rooms at VGC with VDH points at the 7m, but I’m sure it will be even more competition with the VDH owners.

I'd think much easier the other way around.
Depends on the room type.

Studios at VGC will remain very difficult to grab. PV Studios at VDH should be easy most of the year (other views, we'll see).

1BR/2BR at VGC will probably continue to pop-up at their current rate, but 1BR/2BR at VDH will likely be harder to grab (there's fewer of them at VDH vs. VGC and VDH resort has 3x the total number of points...and VDH Studios can only sleep 4 and don't seem to have a tub, which will push more to bigger accommodations).

That's probably true. I know I typically take a bunch of pics the first time I stay someplace, but then not as many on a return trip.
I'm less than 2 months away from mine!

Excellent choice, & looking even better now, i bet the price starts going back up steadily.

Curious about the Fireworks, did it feel different, or anything special calling back to a different time.?

I agree with both...
Positive
Negative

I think it may have pushed out a lot of prospective buyers, but its not like no one will buy. I just hope a lot of people buy & split their contracts up into smaller ones, so the resale market is flourishing in a couple years. Also VGC value just went back up because of it. ;)
any chance Disney would flip some GC cash rooms like they did with VGF?

I don't know that they have much input, but I've been told by multiple CMs the management at GCH does not like DVC and favors the hotel. Hopefully if that's true, they have no input.

i would think that the villas would be the easier of the two... 48 rooms and no daily mousekeeping

Yeah, but we don't pay $800+ per night and general have high expectations. I'll be down there in a couple weeks and poke around a bit. I'm generally not very shy when it comes to chatting up and getting info out of CMs.

i think it would mean more rooms and points available to current owners and new direct buy owners. ( i am not sure about resale restrictions)

At this point I’d think not. If the transient tax is a city thing… it seems like any new DVC would also be subject to it.
