The Unofficial FLORIDA DVCers Thread!

Count us in as another Floridians, true born and bred here, luv our DVC since 1992, takes us about 50 minutes door to door. We toured OKW with hard hats in 1991 when it was originally 3 mountain Disney Vacation Club. Added on twice, BCV & SSR. Our boys were 5 and 1, they don't go as often with us now, we like our alone time, but enjoy it still when they go. Last Christmas our oldest son did not want gifts, but some of our points so that he could go by himself. The brat texted me during his stay to make me jealous. We haven't gone so much this year because we used our points for 25th anniversary 3rd DCL. Made our first trip to HHI in Sept and have 2 planned times in early and late Dec. Okay, I'm rambling, all to say WE FLORIDIANS LOVE OUR DVC!!

Sending a text from Disney to make family jealous sounds like something I would do. I have gone down a few times without my fiance, and I learned very quickly to not disclose anything I did, otherwise I get put in purgatory for a while. Or I can just get her some pins and that gets me off the hook too.

You know long ago we talked about a Florida DVCers get together at Rose and Crown or something, but we never could make it happen. Thats a good idea that we should revive!:thumbsup2

Checking in from Sarasota, Florida !!! Yes, it sure is easy to pop on over to WDW now that we live in Florida.
We also purchased back when the wearing of the 'hard hats' was required to see the Vacation Club !!! Yes and those mountains did change over the years !!!!
We never reserve too far in advance so flexibility is the key in our DVC relationship now. It has been a great 16 years of Fun ---with plenty more to come. So many memories with our Family and so many resorts to enjoy NOW !!!!

Royal Palm Beach here!!!!! We are about 2 1/2 hours south of WDW- about 10 miles west of Palm Beach- Members since 1996-

Love the DVC and going for long weekends about 4 times a year!!

YAY - I am happy to see this thread. Sanford here, about 40min from the World and new DVC owners. We had our first stay on developer points last week for MNSSHP and got the room with less than a week notice...lol. Awesome! I won't count on that happening too often though. I love being local. We have AP's and are renewing (thanks mom and dad) for 2009 as well - this time going Premium since we hope for lots of stays on site in the future and will likely want something new to do besides just the main 4. We have never done the water parks and I am excited to try them.

Happy Hump Day Floridian DVC'ers :wizard:

You'll have a blast, the first week of August every year, a friend and I take our 12yr old boys and a friend and only do water parks, it's too darn hot to do anything else.

Thanks for reviving this thread! I had almost forgot about it!

You're quite welcome.

Are there ever informally organized get-acquainted get-togethers among local DVCers?

We might be willing to give that a shot. Good way to meet others who are "popping over" occasionally.

Another Pembroke Pines resident... in addition to going 2-3 times on points, we also go to Vero Beach and Hilton Head. Plus we have the additional benefit of having my parents live 2 miles from Sea World, so when we're out of points, we stay at their house!

:cool1: After much debate with my wife and son we are now Florida DVCers.
We made the move about two weeks ago with no regrets.:thumbsup2

Welcome MikMin! You're gonna love the flexibility being local. Not everyone can just say "Hey we arent doing anything tomorrow, wanna go to the Boardwalk?":thumbsup2

Howdy from Celebration:wave2: ! Why didn't we think of this thread sooner???

Its been around about a year, but it got buried in the shuffle as is easy to do on the DIS. Glad to see its back to life though!

We are about an hour and a half away from WDW. We have 2 DD (4) & (6 mo). We bought DVC last year and we love the anticipation of planning a couple of WDW vacations every year.

This year we are going for the lille one's first birthday for a short weekend. We are staying at AKV and are really looking forward to it. Only 6 more months to go! :yay:

Then the week ofter thanksgiving we are doing a 4 night on DCL with a couple of our friends. (no we are not addicted :rolleyes1, we can quit at any time:rotfl2:)

Hi and I'm glad this as been revived as well. DeeJ696, you are right at some point last year we had all started to talk about a meet n greet down at the Mouse. Wifey and I are actually headed down to AKL tomorrow for a relaxing 4 day stay through Sunday (we're about 30-40 minutes doorstep to doorstep). Haven't been there since October so we're excited. I'm game for a get together when ever we can all coordinate it. Keep me in the loop!!

We just bought into DVC in Jan at AK-KV- We are doing a cash only in April for 2 nights. We live in Panama City.

Is anyone going to DAP? Hubby and I are staying sat night @ BWV. We are leaving the kids with grandma, this will be our first trip to WDW without the kids and hubby feels a little guilty. With being out late for the DAP event sat night it only makes sence since they are both pretty young (5) & (11 mo).

Hopefully we will see some of you fellow floridians there!

Hi, ya'all from the sunny side of MetroWest in the City Beautiful, Orlando. I live just 20 minutes away and it is a pleasure to just take off whenever I want and gather some "pixie dust"pixiedust: My daughter and I became DVC members in 2007 after some long planning on my thought and she even had her wedding and reception here at WDW in February 2008. I wouldn't have it any way. Living right beside the Mouse:dancer: and being a DVC member can spend long weekends wheneve I need a mouse fix. :yay: I feel sorry for all those others not being able to enjoy what we have, even with the occasional hurricanes:rolleyes:

Nice to see this thread come back to life! I'm with you jworkul, there is nothing better than living in Central Florida and having DVC. We havent gone as often this year due to some other trips, but we are looking forward to our F&W trip in Nov. at BLT!

HallsinKingdom, I'm drawing a comlete blank, what is DAP?

Auburndale Florida here. We are 30 minutes, right down I-4.
We first bought DVC when we were living in New York.
However we just added on at BLT.

When we stay onsite we take the time to enjoy the resort. Its a great relaxing vacation. I love the community halls and the pools.
We also go mostly on weekends.

We have one coming up in 2 weeks. We are going to try out BLT. :cool1:
