You're right, it is a cool concept. But for locals like us, it doesnt really serve a purpose. I can see if you go for a week or 2 at a time and you have a family of 5, needing to lighten the load and leave stuff for when you come back. But at least for me, the stuff I need for a 2 night stay fits in a backpack

What's the owner's locker?

I'm trying to see if the fam want's to go to Epcot or MGM (or whatever it is now) this afternoon but the wife is being lazy.

It takes my car about 56 minutes from door-to-OKWdoor.
...Of course - with I-4 - that is never a "sure thing."

I hear you - it should take me 1.5 hours door-to-door. It's been known to take 3 hours on a bad I-4 day. I've learned never to start my WDW vacation on a Friday afternoon.

And how about Owner's Locker? I just think that's the coolest concept.... and I'm so jealous that I can't take advantage of it... but how can we justify it?!?

I do believe the storage area of my SUV is my "owner's locker."

We're about 35 minutes north of the World and bought in last January. Like others have said, its great to take advantage of the proximity. Its just a different experience when you stay on property than just going for the day (we do both of course ) Some of our friends say we're crazy being so close but I'm sure other's in this thread can relate.

Weekends are our thing too, we'll stay Saturday & Sunday nights so we can split the difference on points.

Maybe its time to have a Florida DVC get together one weekend!

We are about 3-1/2 hours from WDW. We have been doing several trips a year. We are still trying to fiqure out how to squeeze out another trip later this year.
We are getting ready for a point guzzling trip with the MIL & FIL that uses all our points for the year! We leave the 28th of March for 2 nights offsite to do Sea World, check into 2-BR BWV on 3/30 for 3 nights, then into 2-BR at VB for 3 nights.

Now that sounds like a great idea! Maybe something during Food and Wine? Or even just get together at one of the bars at Boardwalk/Beach Club. Ideas anyone?

Yeah, I would say "Point Guzzling" is a good way to describe that trip. Have a great time!

Well, being in Orlando we're very flexible with our schedule. Pretty much whenever this gets set up I"m sure we could swing on down.

As for locations, the Boardwalk has potential

Here are couple of other options.

ESPN Club - Boardwalk
Victoria Falls - AKL
Rose and Crown Pub - EPCOT

Another South Florida three and a half hour family here!

We've got two trips a year planned. So, we are heading up at the end of March for a four day three night deal. Then, we are going to the World in the middle of July...the weather will probably be a tad warm, you think? Sheesh.

This whole 'school year' thing is tough to get around.

I really like the idea of Rose and Crown! We usually go down on Wed/Thurs nights because that is when I am usually off of work, and we avoid weekend points. What about the first week of Nov? I know its a ways away, but Food and Wine is still going on then, and we were planning a trip around then for my birthday also. We have several 1 or 2 night stays planned between now and then as well....

Love love our DVC..Now that we moved to Fl(12/06) love it even MORE..everyone said we would lose our love of Disney and DVC after moving here but its just better..we go on te spur of the moment and also make ressies to go at times that we pick..we used our points on the DVC cruise this year and it will take us about 10 min to get there!!we have 300 points since 97 and I think that Disney has lost a lot of money on us..we have gone about 3-4 times a year before we moved fron NY with our kids and grandsons and with our friends and by ourselves..one year we rented the GV in OKW with 6 adults and 4 kids , they are still talking about how beautiful it was and that was 5 years ago..anyways just wanted tosay ow much we love our DVC & FL also..we are going end of april and end of may so if anyone is up for a meet just let me know and lest I forget..LOVE MY DIS THE BEST..Marianne

DH and I live in Homestead, four hours a way, and we do something Disney (could be the parks, could be a cruise) 4-5 times a year. We just purchased 160 more DVC points on our cruise in Jan - hopefully now we can go more often!!!

Ok so it sounds like we have a venue, Rose and Crown. Now we just gotta decide when. Granted this is easier than most because we are so much closer. Perhaps an early evening this summer, or sometime during Food and Wine? I know we will be there a Wed/Thurs night in mid July sometime, after a 3 month layoff for "other" vacations. I know I know, where else could we need to go right?

R&C it is. We'll be staying at BCV for 3 nights Memorial Day weekend but like deej696 said, being so close we're very flexible. Sometime around the 4th of July might be fun. That's not to say we can't do it again for F&W.

So we have put together a last minute trip down on Apr. 22nd. My mom is doing an event at Flower and Garden the next day, so we decided to head down the night before. Any Florida DVCers up for a meet that night? Sorry its sort of last minute and on a Tuesday night, but I thought maybe some who are nearby would want to meet up. We had mentioned Rose and Crown before, but we are up for anywhere! We are staying at Saratoga, although we are knocking on wood for a waitlist at BW. So, anyone up for a meet?
