The Unofficial Chatterbox Thread! Everyone is Welcome!

I did some shopping yesterday and came across this adorable bear one piece outfit for a baby 2-3 months old. My dh's sister is pregnant so I thought I could get it for her but I now realise she's due in the summer so by the time it's cold the bear outfit will be too small. It's so cute, I sorta want to save it for myself in case I decide I want kids some day but that's weird too because it's like a jinx buying baby clothes for babies that aren't here yet.

I know what you mean! I think stuff for girls is way cuter than stuff for boys. It's also a lot easier to shop for a girl IMO. :rotfl2: My cousin just had a baby boy and it's their first child. It was hard for me to shop for him because so many of their friends had already purchased tons of clothes and such. I ended up just getting a cute set of plush animals that you put onto a stroller, to help keep the baby entertained.

The ladies trip, they had a surprise baby shower. I had fun picking out items to give to her. I found a cute pacifier that says "Princess in Training" and cute baby bibs that had elephants on them and pink trim. :) Here's a pic of the bibs:

Hi again sorry it took me forever to reply!!
as long as you dont move into the mountains you wont get snow( looks nice from a distance LOL), it does get really cold here though, well compared to where i come from (perth)
depending on your or your husbands jobs or if you have family out here, you might be able to get a visa, actually i think you can do a lottery thing too where they let a certain amount of people in, if you look here it should help you out
http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis

i only really know about family based Immigration as my Husband is American, so i came here on a spousal Visa.
i dont know what it is like in Las Vegas or Florida, as i have never been, although i would love to visit one of these days, from what i have heard florida is really humid, so if you dont mind that type of weather.
i would say Vegas weather is real simular to here. i did find when we came over my skin was really dry for a long while, might also be due to having 2 winters!

i think what really made me want to move was that Perth was really boring us for a start(limited things to do) and also my husband has alot of family here, and all we had in Aus was my dad, so i wanted the kids to get to know his family too, Plus i wanted them to experience a different lifestyle, it has opened my sons eyes to the poverty here compaired to where we come from, i dont think he had ever seen a homeless person in Perth.

we are just loving it here, we are always going somewhere different, im loving how cheap everything is too!! :)

feel free to ask me any other questions :thumbsup2

Hi Roandlilsmum - good to hear from you!

Thanks so much for the information. The US immigration website, like any immigration website, is so confusing. I will have a look at the link you sent me. I have been to California and Vegas and loved them both. Shopping in Vegas is amazingly cheap - I bought so much I had to buy another suitcase, but it was worth it because in comparison to Australia, the prices are just so much better!!!! Next year we are going to Florida (my husband has been quite a few times already) and then we will have a better idea of where we like it the best. We live in Adelaide now, but before that we lived in Sydney, so I can do both dry or humid heat.

Our daughter absolutely loved the US too and one of her close friends here in Adelaide is moving back to New Hampshire at the end of April so she is already asking when will she be old enough to visit.

Thanks again for all the info and enjoy your trip to DL in 6 days. If you haven't been already (which I'm sure you have) you are going to love it. Like everything in the US it is done really, really well, with the most amazing detail!

:thumbsup2 :goodvibes :yay:

Well I was going to ask what threading was...but then I read further. I have never even heard of it. Sounds interesting. I could have used it in my hairy days...but after chemo, my eyebrows (and all of my hair) grows rather slowly.:confused3

Im going to Disneyworld!!! I know you all know... But it is in less then 2 months, and I am getting excited!!:banana::banana: I have been sorting out summer clothes, seeing what still fits.. Buying the twins some stuff.. Thank goodness for Costco and their CHEAP cute baby clothes. I have to start sewing!! I bought a few patterns online, and some fabric. Im making the girls princess gowns, and other matchy stuff for the kids. I just need to get on it!

Have you seen the Florida forecast lately? Seriously, 1 week before my trip and it's lows around 50 and highs in the low 70's. I just may freeze to death.:scared1: Usually it's around 75-85 when we are there. :sad2:

Crazy El Nino year weather

Typically we get a lot of snow in March, but it's been too warm to snow. It's been rain, fog, dreary, dark all week long. I've forgotten, what does a sunny day look like?? On a more positive note, the last of the snow is disappearing very quickly and it's warm enough to ditch the extra layers. DH likes spring for visiting the mall. MN women eagerly embrace the change in weather by removing extra clothing, lots of short skirts, bare legs and cute boots.. yep it's spring. ;) Of course, he is teaching J the fine art of "looking" without leering.

I know I know.. you're thinking:

but Bernice don't you mind that he is looking at other women???!!

No, not really. He can look because I know it's me that he loves and wants to come home to everyday. :goodvibes

Guess WA & MN are the recipients of the awesome El Nino(insert inyata sign here, cuz it's dark and I can't find the inyata sign on my puter!). (Oh and yes, I know it's not really called an inyata sign, but I can't ever remember what it's really called, it's part of pinata and I've called it the inyata forever). (Oh and yes, I do know that I'm a dork).:):):)

Anyway, what were we talking about? Oh yes, the strange weather and the fact that B's hubby is teaching their son the fine art of stalking women at the local mall without getting arrested! Nice!!:thumbsup2:rotfl2::lmao:

I wish it would just rain already, dark dreary and a slight mist feeling in the air. This rain but not raining weather wrecks havoc on my joints.. and E's too. He's back to having his hips bothering him, he hobbles which in turn stresses his lower back due to poor gait/ posture and slows him down even more.

Rain already!!!

Busy day, we went to see Alice .. it was awesome! I had a movie cash certificate, the cashier wasn't quite sure how to handle it.. so she took off the full value of $12 even though it was only $7.25 each. It's treated like a check, they will get full reimbursement.. cool bonus for us.

Went to Target and used up a nice chunk of coupons.. the guys are set in enough stinky men body wash for the year. :thumbsup2

And a whole slew of other "stuff" total of $140 down to $27 out of pocket (after using $15 in gift cards from previous gift card with purchase offers).

I  coupons!

:goodvibes

Next we went to Cub (owned by same company as Albertson's, Super Valu) , majorly disappointed with their prices and lack of good sale offers. This is the store where I can use expired coupons, but lately I haven't been going because the sale ads SUCK!

Even E who doesn't obsess over grocery savings as much as I do commented "this sucks, that costs less at Rainbow even without doubling coupons"

Yep, which is why we rarely come here now even though it's closer to our apartment. :sad2:

I need E's family to come visit, my cabinets, chest freezer, closets and HBA stash are overflowing with goodies! Or we need someone new to "adopt" to share the loot. I got my sis doing coupon deals now, her cabinets are overfilled too. :lmao:

Hey. Do any of you know the best way to get from Anaheim to Palm Desert? I guess my brother is getting married in Palm Desert so naturally I want to see if it's possible to get to Disney. I tried looking it up on google but it said it was a 3 hour drive. I don't think I want to do that, but then I couldnt' find an airport near palm desert.

Edit: Yeah never mind I found it. Apparently it will cost me 600 dollars to fly from Anaheim to Palm springs. I don't think so. I guess I won't be able to fit in disney. :(

yeah Palm Desert is a long way off, bummer to be "close" but not close enough.

Though I wonder if there is an Amtrak that runs thru there and connect with the metrolink commuter train into Anaheim? Taking the bus from the train station to DL gate is easy peasy, just follow the cast members coming into work.

The Amtrak would be cheaper than flying, the metrolink is reasonable and allows for free transfer to bus.

------------------------
Hmmm $40 Amtrak : Palm Springs to LA Union Station to Anaheim...

but it takes 5hrs total

Depart 5 am, arrive Union station at 8:40 am (1 hr layover at Union Station in LA, which you could cut down by transfer to metrolink instead), arrive Anaheim at 10 AM

Would you have a day or two free to allow for travel? :confused3

I saw these in the Aldi ad.. immediately thought of Alison.."they are front packs not fanny packs!"

I think we had discussed how hard they are to find now..

The one that has a spot for a water bottle came to mind, carrying that cup latched to my purse and it went flying onto the dirty bathroom floor.

"was that my cup?"

ohh , yeah.. don't suppose you still want it, huh?

"ewww, NO!"

Nope, no Aldi's. But I still have my old fanny pack, so all is well.:thumbsup2

 It will get better sweetie... you are so worth having someone to worship and love you for just YOU!

Walking walking walking.. been doing lots of walking. Snow is gone and it's been wonderfully warm for March.

Haven't changed my eating habits much... oink oink... but the walking must be doing something, besides making me feel utterly exhausted by afternoon. I have lost 4 kilos (8.8 pounds for those of you trying to figure the math - HA!) in about a month.
We have the scale set for kilos due to E's dialysis. It's a more accurate measure, to the tenth of a kilo, to figure out how much fluid to take off on each treatment to achieve "dry weight". Give you a little thrill to see a small number.. until you calculate in pounds and you go ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh , eeeeeek!

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Yay Bernice!! Way to go!!!:cool1: We have been walking around the park since it has been so nice lately.. Monday Frelan drove the Van around to meet us at the playground.. I had Vinny in the backpack carrier, Jazzy and Kaylee in the stroller. YIKES! I about died with all that extra weight!:lmao:

Well... I met the boyfriend. Yuck. He is a drunk old man. I talked to my sister about him, and she got the same impression I did. Thank goodness it wasnt just me. We both got the feeling that A. he is just after my mom for her money.. B. he is trying to keep her from spending time with us. He kept pushing her to leave while they were here.. He did the same thing over at my sisters house. Worries me. But how do I say something to my mom without her freaking out?? I dont know. I think I just need to step back from the situation. I am getting pretty angry with my mom though. She had promised to help me out with some stuff before the trip.. Now she is to busy. Busy??? She has no idea what I am dealing with!! I am BUSY! She was like.. I know you can handle everything.. You always do, and do it well. I guess I have the ability to just take care of everyone without betting an eye, or breaking a sweat. I mean... Im glad she has the faith in me I guess... But I really could use some help!!

Well, this one girl i know who recently turned trainer asked me to mentor her to become a new lead. I agreed and i started to talk to her.

Turns out, she was one of the original Freedom Writers from the actually class. I was surprised...

if you dont know Freedom Writers, watch the movie!!! :)
