The Unofficial Chatterbox Thread! Everyone is Welcome!

Family drama! :scared1:
I just wish I knew how to fix this. :sad2:

Family drama blows! Time to take a stand and say to your mom.. "nope, I'm not doing the dirty work for you". I applaud your sister's decision to take a break.

There is a part of me that is scared but at the same time which is worse...staying and being miserable or actually getting out of a bad situation and being happy? I'd rather choose happiness

:goodvibes
Good attitude! Keep on going! :thumbsup2

mmmmmm...
I had jasmine rice, peas , naan bread and chicken with Trader Joe's Thai green curry simmer sauce.. mmmmmmmmmm it's so yummy!

I've made it once before, it was mixed results. this time E was totally gimping out and ate a bunch.. mmmmmmm. I think having the Naan with it made it that much better. YUM!

Alex made student of the month!!! and Kaylee lost her first tooth!!!!:cool1::cool1::cool1: We had a heck of an exciting day yesterday!!!!

Hi, I thought I would come in and say hello and join in the convos if that's ok. I have been a member of the Dis since 05 when I came on to plan my 2nd trip to DW.

My name is Kelly by the way and I am 42 almost 43 (in June ;) ) and I am married to Shane for 11 years this past Feb. We have 2 daughters together Katy 10 and Shelby who will be 9 in April. Shane also has a daughter Lynn who we had custody of until she turned 18 in Feb and she is now living with her grandma in AZ and he has two other kids, a boy and a girl from other relationships who we have no contact with.

I am a TRUE Disneyaholic and try to go at least once a year and have been an AP holder since 06. I have been to DW 3 times, 02, 05 and 08 and too many times to count to DL. My last trip was this past Feb with the ladies group on the boards.

My next trip is in June with my mom and my girls and I am really excited because we got that great getaway rate and are staying at the Grand for only the 2nd time ever. We usually stay offsite.

Let's see I work part time for my mom's real estate company doing book keeping and mom is a disney nut like me and has gone on two of the ladies trips with me as well.

Think that about covers everything but I look forward to getting to know everyone and chatting with you! :)

Hi Kelly! Welcome!! I have seen you over on the ladies only thread. I keep saying I am going on that.. But only went the first time. My name is Megan.. I am married with four kiddos. My husband is a machinist, I am a stay at home mom. We have Alex... he is 8, Kaylee is 4 but will be 5 in a few weeks, Jazzy and Vinny are the twins! They just turned one. We have been to DIsneyland as a family four times, and I have gone without the kids a couple of times. We are planning our first trip to WDW in about 5 weeks!!! Cant wait!!

Hi Megan nice to meet you!! :) Yes I have heard Beth and some of the others speak of you! I am sorry I wasn't able to meet you. I went on the 2nd and 3rd trips and had a blast! I won't be going on this next one because mom and I really want to do the Food and Wine trip for a change so we are planning to go and hopefully do mouseadventure too which is another thing I have always wanted to do!! :)

I remember seeing you on the threads right after you had the twins. Wow are they already a year old! Holy Cow!!

I used to live in WA as well. I was married before and lived up there with the ex from 95 to 98. We lived in Arlington, Marysville and Vancouver. I REALLY loved it up there and hated to move back to CA but after my divorce I just couldn't make it up there financially and all my family is here in Northern CA sooo as the story goes LOL I am here. My current dh and I would love to move someday but our girls are VERY involved with sports, girl scouts and church so most likely we will wait till after they graduate high school. :)

How exciting about your first trip to DW. You will have so much fun! When are you going? Our first trip was in May of 02 but it was SO hot. We then went in Oct of 05 and really enjoyed going during Halloween. We went for Mickeys Not so Scary Halloween Party and had the BEST time! It was a great time to go with low crowds and we also got to experience food and wine!! YUM!! :) Then this last time we went in 08 was over Thanksgiving week and it was really fun to see it during the holidays and we saw candlelight procession and all the christmas decs as well as did Mickey's Very Merry Christmas and saw the Osborne Lights but it was REALLY crowded and actually a bit cold if you can believe that! We LOVE it there and can't wait to go again!!

I am anxious to go back to DL in June since we have only stayed at the Grand once and that was way back in 02. We usually stay at Dessert Inn or one of the hotels on Harbor but we stayed at PP in Feb for the ladies trip and dh and I stayed at DLH in Oct with the girls and we have gotten a bit spoiled with the Disney magic! So I am really looking forward to it!

It was nice meeting you and look forward to getting to know you better!! :)

Hi Kelly. :)

Hi Kelly!
I'm Bernice, I live in MN. Married, two boys (14 and almost 17).

My dh teaches at a K-8 inner city/urban school as a science teacher but will be going back on disability for next year. He dialyzes at home 6 days a week and I am his helper.

(His school is being fresh started next year, 50% of staff will be removed. Administration staff will be removed.. the principal was crying today when the state made the announcement at meeting. She is a wonderful strong leader and I know she is heartbroken that her staff are now upset, hurt and worried for the future. It was a tough day. )

I work occasionally for my sis as a respite PCA for her children with autism

(heads up hyenas..unofficially littlest guy may be on the spectrum, she doesn't want to have the official diagnosis because she knows they will treat him differently at special ed preschool vs just "delayed").

I'm a total coupon-aholic.. yep one of those wacky crazy ladies with a big 3" zippered binder full of coupons. But that's how we survive on a teeny tiny income. I paid $12, and saved $84 today! :thumbsup2

Been to DL many many many many times. We lived about an hour away for a year, went to DL to relax on the weekends. Moved back to MN , now I'm back to doing solo trips (or meet up with these wonderful ladies.. and our token male.. Hey Albert!) once per year.

Nice chatting... now everyone is up to date too :lmao:
So uhh yeah.. Eloy is actually kinda glad to not be teaching next year. Hopefully he will still get his part time position but no clue how this will all pan out.

:wave2: Hi Sara! I know Sara from the ladies trips! ;)

Hi Bernice! Nice to meet you. I am sorry about your dh's school. That is awful. They are doing that a lot out here as well. It is so sad what is happening all over this country both with the schools and the economy in general. My parents own a real estate company and I work part time for them and my dh is a journeyman tile setter so pretty much my entire family gets their income from the real estate/construction industry and it was VERY hard hit by the recession.

My parents business almost went under and dh took a 10/hr paycut and has been laid off quite a bit so I feel your pain about having to live off a small income. I don't take advatange of coupons as much as I should but I VERY rarely buy anything that is not on sale and Walmart and Target are my FAV stores ;)

I hope that everything works out for your dh next year as far as his job is concerned!!

Our big news for this week is my girls have been practicing for a talent show for several months. I know I prob am going to sound like a bad mom but they have wanted to do it for several years and I thought they actually had to BE talented to be in a talent show LOL. And I love my daughters to death but neither of them can sing for beans (even though they THINK they can LOL) and they can't play an instrument although my youngest has taught herself to play a few songs on the piano which I was pretty impressed with and thought she could actually do that but it turns out they will let them do pretty much anything. SOOO my oldest will be doing a "hula hoop" routine ;) and my little one is dancing to beat it. It seems after Michael Jackson passed she is now obsessed with his music and him. She spends hours watching his videos on you tube and HAD to have his cd for christmas and loves it! The theme is the 80's which just happens to be when I was a teen so I think it is pretty funny. I spent this morning dressing them up and they are SO excited. So they are putting on two shows today at school and the show for the parents is tonight. Can't wait to see how it turns out!!

Last night was open house which was fun and then we get a break for a bit. The girls are on spring break after Friday and I am looking forward to sleeping in and hopefully doing a few fun things with them.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day and talk soon! :)

I really need to learn how to use coupons. I have saved the coupons ads from the last 3-4 Sunday papers. How do you find the great deals? Do you cut them all out and organize by name? Product type? I have looked around A Full Cup a little bit but I am still lost in the world of couponing.

Just had to share I am so excited, I just booked the girls and I's airfare for our June trip!! Eventhough I just went in Feb because it was the girls trip I think I only went on about 3 rides LOL. Usually when we do a "family" trip we do a LOT more but on the ladies trip it is more about visiting and eating LOL.

Also the girls haven't been since Oct and they are SO excited. They were so jealous of me going in Feb and have been talking and talking about how much they missed it and wanted to go back and for the longest time we weren't sure if it was even going to happen. So this makes it a lot more REAL! Plus getting to stay at the grand is SO exciting. We have really gotten spoiled because we got a killer deal last oct and stayed at the DLH although our room wasn't that hot but it was still SO much more fun to stay "on property" and we got to swim in the neverland pool etc. And then on the ladies trip mom and I tried the PP and we really enjoyed it and as I said they treated us REALLY well and now getting to go back to the grand! So exciting!! Have to enjoy it while it lasts!! ;) I am sure we will be back to the DI or Ramada all too soon LOL.

I don't know why Disney is offering such good deals during summer high season but I don't care I am DEF taking advantage. Plus I am looking for to seeing ROA with water again and hoping that WOC will be showing!!!

Also mom has 2 weeks that she needs to use with her timeshare and we are desperately trying to figure out what to do with them so she doesn't lose them.

Sara I have been looking into a Mexican Riviera cruise for Thanksgiving this year. I thought about one of the Ensenada ones but mom wants to do a 7 day. So we are thinking about that or we may end up going back to DW since RCI is now exchanging with DVC. So many possibilities. I am excited for whatever we decide!! :)

Anyway just wanted to share!

Hope everyone is having a good day!! :)

DBF and I did the 7 day in December with Carnival and I loved it! The ports of call were Puerta Vallart, Mazatlan and Cabo. Although we didn't actually get to go to Mazatlan because when we were docking in Puerta Vallarta the Captain hit a dock with the ship and put a huge hole in it so we had to stay docked for 2 days until they could fix it and we could get the OK to head back out in the ocean. :scared1:

I've been looking for a cruise for my birthday (June 6) but they are all so expensive during the summer.

That cruise sounds like the exact same one I was looking at. Same ports of call and also through carnival! I was looking through Vacations to go and for that particular week it was the cheapest one. I think it leaves out of Long Beach. We had orig been looking at a cruise that was through Royal Carribean that went to Grand Cayman, Cozumel and Jamaica but the airfare is what kills you on an east coast one. It left on Halloween and I thought the girls would have fun with all the parties and stuff they do.

Mom has done that exact cruise on RC before and loved it. I have never done a cruise and REALLY want to do one. I have been to Mexico before as my parents own a place in Puerto Vallarta so that is the only reason I wanted to try the east coast but at this point I am willing to do whatever just do try the cruise part. That is why when I heard you talking about how cheap the ensenada ones were I thought who cares about the port calls. It would be fun for the girls just to do the cruise part. :)

Good luck on finding one for your B-day and hey our birthdays are close together, mine is June 3rd! :)

June 17th here. ;)

Coupons.. I actually find most of my deals at A Full Cup within the forums that are specific to my grocery store (Rainbow Foods) . I know the Albertson's list is not maintained very well, guessing Von's might be better or Ralph's because they double?

Coupon Mom is a good one, I recall the list for Ralph's was very good and I would pick up lots of free stuff.

Target

This one is more local for me but she does post Walmart, Target, CVS, Walgreen's, freebies, general info..

There has to be someone blogging about deals local to you or at least semi close...

Meet our dialysis god, he hungers for blood. Why? Because he is made out of blood.

shhh, he's actually a piece of gauze.
This was not a purposeful creation.

Eloy picked his scabs prior to placing his needles for treatment and wiped his steripick on this 2x2 gauze.

I pulled out his needles at the end of treatment, a little bit of blood trailed out from the needle.
I grabbed the closest gauze on his tray table , still a little damp from the antibacterial wash, swiped at the blood.

I glanced down and broke out laughing.

Dialysis God was born!

He know resides taped on the wall above the centrifuge.

He's enjoying the nightly feedings, until Eloy has a day off.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

Yep.. I am totally bored.
:lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Hi everone!!! I almost forgot that this thread was here. Got tons to catch up on I guess. How's everyone doing?

Lol Bernice that is cute! And hey nothing wrong with being bored!! ;)

I just got back from the girls talent show and they were sooo cute. It was an 80's theme which is when I was in high school so it was a lot of fun reminiscing. In fact this year is my 25th HS reunion. EEK! Haven't heard yet if we are having one although I don't know why they wouldn't. We had one every OTHER 5 years.

Anyway it was a LOT of fun!

Hope everyone is having a good night!

I am off to work tomorrow and then looking forward to spring break with the girls next week!

Morning everyone!

Today is the girls last day of school before the break and as I said last night I am off to work today. Yesterday it rained but I am hoping for some nice weather for the break. Haven't quite decided yet what the girls and I are going to do. I know I will probably take them to the mall one day and possibly a movie. I may take them mini golfing. Will all depend on the weather. They start swim again on the monday after Easter so I need to get them new swim caps as theirs were pretty worn out. This will be their 4th year. They also need new flip flops. We have practice every night from April 5th through the end of July and the meets start on May 15th and we only get 2 Sat's off, Mem day and 4th of July so it is pretty intense but it is fun. We will miss one meet when we go on vacation.

Anywho hope everyone has a GREAT day today and talk later. :)
