The Unofficial Chatterbox Thread! Everyone is Welcome!

Evening all!!

Sounds like you guys are really getting things together for your trip.

Christina, when are you moving back to Canada?

Pix, Hey.....are you kind of seeing your BF again?

Ladies, maybe some of you should try Priceline or Hotwire for your trip. I paid 65 dollars for the Orange Hyatt Regency in December through Hotwire. If you go to betterbidding.com and look up California under Orange County, it gives you clues on what hotel you will more than likely get. You can click on the Hotwire clues or the Priceline clues. It's really cool.

Anyways, the Orange Hyatt has their own shuttle service for free. Pretty nice!

Walmart-- no no

Target beep beep beep beeeeeeeeeep YES!!
But I grew up with Target , MN company, we never had a Walmart in Duluth until after I had grown and moved away. We went to Kmart with its blue light specials causing crowds of women to run from one end of the store to another. We got an Icee to slurp in the cart with a bag of overly salted popcorn if we were good and let mom shop for the deals. :goodvibes

We have a smallish Wally world just a few blocks away, it's rare for us to go. The closest Super Walmart is a 30 minute drive, I'm going to try my luck at ad matching this week as we have a GC to use. Going to see how far I can make $40 stretch. :thumbsup2

We have reservations at a Best Western for $39 a night thanks to Alison and her connections. :thumbsup2

The cheap but not scary hotels that have been discussed recently on the boards ...
Motel 6 (completely remodeled to retro funk style, very minimalist and comfy beds)

Anaheim Plaza

Hojo with Entertainment Rate

Quality Inn and Suites, the one just around the corner from Hojo's has good reviews and frequently listed on various sites for lower cost than their own web site.. turn in online form and they will lower the rate to match plus another 10%

Super 8 on Katella

I believe I can get up to 2 rooms at the $39 rate. So let me know if you need a room. We are at the Best Western Pavillions.

My sis burst out today and exclaimed she needed a vacation, of course she does! Told her she should join me, at first she said no I can't afford it and "do you know how much mess they will create when I'm gone?"

..and then she sat and pondered..

could see the wheels turning
"let me know how much it would cost me"

No promises. Chances are she won't be going, she's not a Disney fan and doesn't quite understand our fascination of DL "going again???" Besides, not sure who would take care of her kidlets. :confused3 But it would be great for her to get away, she needs some major de-stressing!

I had suggested a Vegas trip a year ago, she looked at me all crazy like " why would I go there? I don't gamble"
True, neither do I but it's fun to just GO. :teleport:

WooHoo the more the merrier...GIANT slumber party in the making. So just how many people can we shove into 1 room? :rotfl2:

We dont gamble... but we still got married in Vegas. :confused3 There are tons of things to do besides gamble!

I can COMPLETELY understand needing a vacation.. and worrying about the mess I will be coming home too. :lmao: Or, will I come home to the correct amount of children. :lmao:

I am trying to plan a trip next year for me and my husband. ALONE. I dont know WHO will watch our kids, but Im hoping if we are in a bigger place, we can just get someone to come in and stay at our house for a week. It probably wnt be until after next June, when Julie leaves.. But we need some time together. I wish we could do it now, but that isnt going to happen.

We are never alone together, and I know that a lot can change in a year and a half.. But I think we need something to look forward too. We need something relaxing. Soothing.. I dont know. I miss my husband, and with four little kids here, I feel like we will just keep drifting apart unless I figure something out.

You should come down here for a weekend. Leave the kids at your mom's on a Saturday night, I could come over and help her babysit for the night. Then you guys could go out.:thumbsup2

I love Jamba's oatmeal! :thumbsup2 And Starbuck's too! Why is it that when I make oatmeal at home it's gross?

When Jamba first came out with their oatmeal they brought a ton of it to my work for us to try! :thumbsup2 (I work at the local newspaper.) We get that alot with new restaurants too. I love me some free food!

Are you using Old Fashioned, 5 minutes to cook oatmeal? The instant and quick cooking kind are gross. Old Fashioned/Steel Cut are good.:thumbsup2

These early years are grueling on both of you.

You need a date night!

If that's not possible...
Find small ways to reconnect.

When Justin was a babe we worked opposite shifts and there would be many days where we didn't see each other. I started leaving him little notes tucked into his coat pocket, taped to the TV or the bathroom mirror. One small highlight of my day to share, reminders and then ending with a cute "I love you sweetie" message. He would write back and leave it for me to find. :lovestruc

My BIL calls my sis everyday on his lunch break, just passing the time.

And we uhhhhh made good use of videos to "babysit" in a childproof room while we uhhhh were occupied elsewhere. :rolleyes1 Justin, here go watch Lion King. (Noah's was Toy Story.) :rotfl:

okey dokey!

I'll go see what newly diagnosed, totally freaked out women I can assist on the Komen Board for a few minutes.:lmao:

Not too loud, you have to listen for sounds of destruction and wailing.
:rotfl2:

Justin fell off the couch backwards and cut his head open while we were occupied, He was very calm and told us later-- my head fell apart. They used glue in the ER so he got a kick out of saying they glued his head back on.

So I'm guessing that's the year you were only runner up for the Mother of the Year Award?

The DH that is...

hmm, contemplating a snack and some Tylenol. Caffeine withdrawal and not enough sleep head ache.

I made homemade ice cream last night and divided it into 4 bowls...only problem was DD's boyfriend was at the house and I counted him, but not me. So everybody got ice cream but me. :rotfl2: I didn't say anything, didn't want him to feel bad. Everybody just thought I was dieting.:lmao:

Totally worthy of a Mother of the Year award :thumbsup2

mm, tylenol yogurt and granola...

HA!
Even better, expired yogurt. Must have grabbed a pkg without checking the date at the store. The other packs don't expire until Feb. It tastes fine.

Snack Food of Champions!:lmao: Sorry I took so long on the Komen board. There was a new lady that had the same type of rare cancer and was also diagnosed at the same age as me. In 3-1/2 years, there has only been 1 other lady with the same type as me.

I could tell from her post that she was freaking a bit, so I needed to post and tell her that she will survive.:thumbsup2 It's so amazing the scary stuff you read right after diagnosis and become totally convinced that you are going to die.(yes, I just laughed in the face of cancer)!

I've never understood the expiration date on yogurt. It's just soured milk anyway, it's not like it can go bad or anything.:confused3 I've accidentally eaten yogurt that was a couple of months expired and I'm still alive. Of course it could explain some of my medical problems!:lmao:
