The Unofficial Chatterbox Thread! Everyone is Welcome!

So...I really want one more trip before my AP's expire. Talked to DH, and agreed on some dates (however he did just tell me to book it and let him know when to request off). I am so torn on what to do though - we can vacation in the summer (business is extremely busy - we are where people go to get out of the heat). But I am also not sure how long I can feasibly pull the kids out of school (most worried about Alec - I really don't think he is ready for 1st grade)

Went to book anyways - and my dates are packed - no openings....

So...do I let the AP's expire - do i try for different dates??? How long can you pull a kid out that is going to struggle- but I think he will struggle anyways - so should I let him have fun??? HELP PLEASE!!! NEED OPINIONS!!!

Moving day??? Are you moving?

Can you just take him out for a couple of days? Like Friday and Monday??

DUH!!! The little family that is living with you, yeah?? I forgot.

:lmao: Yep - the little family living with me! I love my nephew to death - he is such a big help around here - but with the pregnant girlfriend and her 3 yo it was a bit much for our little house!!!

I can try for a weekend - it is just harder with work. I am afraid I have procrastinated too long!!! But I am going to be so sad if the AP's expire!!!

I hear you!!! Well.. I know my kiddo doenst have the same stuff going on the Alec does, but I say... Boo to school!! Little kids will catch up. And Since Alec is catching up SOO fast now, right?? Maybe missing a week wont matter in the long run?:confused3

I just wanted to add that I am taking Alex out for 2 weeks in May so we can go to WDW with my mom. So maybe Im not the best one to give advise. :lmao:

I am just thinking 3-4 days tops - I love DL, but can't spend a week there anymore  We would all kill eachother in the happiest place on earth!!!:rotfl:

Honestly though this probably isn't the best place for an unbiased opinion!!! :lmao::lmao::lmao: Let's ask a bunch of disney freaks to choose between disney and school!!! :lmao::lmao::lmao: Definitely not going on a teachers forum to ask for their opinion!!! :lmao::lmao::lmao:

At least Alec is bright and knows his numbers. It would be bad for him to grow up and not be able to count as high as the number of times he went to disney!!! :lmao::lmao::lmao:

I KNOW!!! I was telling dh tonight that we should think about a spilt stay on our trip.. Maybe try out the AKV one bedroom for 5 nights after my mom leaves. I think that the six of us being crammed in one tiny little room AND vacationing with my mom might send us over the deep end. Plus it is going to be wicked hot.. at least for us. We only fight when its to hot.. and DANG do we fight!:lmao: We had 100+ temps this week with no AC, and I threw a plate at my husband. :lmao::lmao:

:scared1::scared1::scared1: I can definitely relate though!! We got hot last week (in the low 90's :rolleyes1) and DH started freaking out that we had to buy an AC - like immediately!!! It think we calmed down once the monsoon hit and we cooled down to a nice 70 - I would like AC, but don't really want to pay for one right now!!!

Frelan was the same way.. Buy an AC!! But really, we only get HOT a couple of times a year. I told him to shut up and take a shower to cool off. :lmao: We should be back in the 70s by Thursday... Hopefully. 4 kids with no sleep?? They are lucky it was their dad getting stuff thrown at him, and not them. ;)

So last night I went to bed in my red pj bottoms and a green shirt. I got hot so I switched into pink boxers and a pink tank top. This morning I woke up with my red pants back on and my green shirt over top of my pink tank. I must have put them back on in my sleep but I have NO memory of it, I'm scared to think what else I might have done in my sleep.

Great pics Sarah. I didn't know they were putting a giant mickey head on the sunwheel, I think I like it.

Was the helicopter ride ridiculously expensive or was it the only way to get there?

It was $180 per person round trip for the helicopter. You can take a boat there too for $66.50 per person round trip. As scared as I was in the helicopter I have to say I think I liked it better than the hour and 15 minute boat ride. The boat rocked soooo much.

So I went car shopping for DD today. She doesn't know anything about this. I started looking at entry level new cars. Then I finally came to the conclusion that I prefer she is in something a little bit bigger and nicer.

SO.....I asked myself if I were 17 years old and my parent's surprised me with a new car, what would I want (that is within reason of course). And the answer is a Mustang!!!! Smaller, yet not to small, sporty and fits within our budget.

Unfortunately most of the car dealerships have suspended the Cash for Clunkers program this weekend. However, Monday when the Senate hopefully votes yes on the additional $2,000,000,000 we will be the proud owners of a brand spankin' new Mustang for DD. Out of pocket cost will be about $10-$12,000.

So I have put our order in for a V-6 Mustang(gotta keep the insurance low), color choice in this order (Blue, Red, Black, Silver, White...no green, no yellow). We prefer an automatic, but will go with a 5 speed if no automatic's available in our price range.

I'm so excited, even though it won't be my car.:banana::banana: I just can't imagine how she's going to feel when she see's it...I bet she starts screaming and crying.:lmao: I think this is my dream come true (if I were 17 again).:rotfl:

I wish you were my mom! I got a used 1980 Honda Civic when I turned 16, that was a hand me down from my cousin.

At least Alec is bright and knows his numbers. It would be bad for him to grow up and not be able to count as high as the number of times he went to disney!!! :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Too funny!

URRRRGGGGHHHH we have too much crap going on!!! In order to coordinate with soccer (DH coaches), softball (can't mess with that), labor day (we will both be super busy - can't take off) and month end numbers (we are the only two people that can do....I have narrowed my vacation options down to one set of dates. Now I just have to hope to heck that DH can approve them....otherwise I am screwed and very sad :sad1:

Teachers would likely say shhhhh, go for it and have fun!
Wishing they could go too!

But in public or around the principal it would be the standard district line "we feel that parents should.." blah.. blah blah....

Administrators would say.. noooooo don't!
We lose money when your child is gone from school.

Personally, when my boys were in elementary I had no qualms of taking them out of school. If you plan it on a week that is shortened with teacher trainings, conferences, holiday or late start days.. they really aren't missing much.

If it's just a few days before the end of the grade period, perfect! Teachers tend to wrap up key info and do review work the last remaining days of the grade period. Why start new stuff while the teacher is busy with grades and other reports?

Just don't take them during state testing dates. :thumbsup2

Do you take Ambien? :rolleyes1

Hubby would sleep eat on Ambien, very ODD combinations too! He stuffed green olives with cream cheese (sucking out the pimientos first)

Opened up root beer and sprayed it all over the floor and inside the fridge.. that was an awful mess to find in the morning.

He also eloped one night, just walking around.. thank goodness he didn't take the car!!
