aww the elusive PIN code!! Some lucky peeps are sent out (either thru e-mail or snail mail) a special code that will allow them a discount on either their room or free dining -- recent ones given. I ,like many, wish there was a special way i could get one!!

Thought of another question:

Is SUNDAY really a bad day for MK? and if so why??

Pin codes are discounts that are sent to you through the mail or email. They are specific to the addressee and can't be used by anyone else or with any other discount/promo. I've been sent a few that are great offers, it has just never worked out that I can use them in the dates they are good for.

Another couple questions from me:

1. Does Disneyworld usually offer some sort of offer (free dining, 40% off moderate hotels, etc.) during all Value times?

2. If my party and I were to book December 31st (not value) through to the next week (which would be a value week) could we still use a free dining or 40% off coupon if it is offered? Would it only cover the value week?

I'm pretty sure that you would have to check out and check back in on the day your free dining/discount would start. We did this in 2007 for free dining, paid 1 night at full price, checked out and checked back in to receive our free dining for the rest of the stay. This must be pretty popular because there were at least 30 other groups doing the same thing early in the morning. The cm's were great about it and had everything ready to go. In fact now that I think about it a manager was going around the line asking for peoples names so he could go through the stack of envelopes they already had made up. It was super easy. I would think that you can usually get some sort of discount if you wait long enough, you can book your room and then call back when discount is released for general public and add it to your package. Keep in mind that there are limited amounts of rooms that the discount applies to so you want to call right away.

SnowandMittens - You have to hang back and watch. I believe the only way you can get in is if you have an early ADR.

Cute thread.

My question: How bad are the waits for BTMRR now that SM is closed?

Gulp - Splash Mountain is closed?? Until when??

I just realized you meant Space Mountain. Whew! We've been telling ds for a year he can go on Splash Mountain when we go in Sept. and I wasn't sure how I was going to tell him it was closed....

New question: In order to stay on Disney grounds are you required to have tickets to the parks? Basically my party and I are wanting to do two days at Universal but want to stay at Disney still...do they require you to move?

You park at the Boardwalk Hotel - one of the few hotels they'll let you park at without hassling you about how long you stay.

My question: Anyone know what date they start making the MVMCP Christmas parade the "regular" parade at MK? I believe they do this by the 25th, but when does it normally start? Anyone with experience on this?

SkierPete

We saw the Christmas parade on Monday 12/22/08. I think it becomes the daytime parade the day after the last MVMCP, but I'm not totally sure of that. In our case, the last party was Friday night - we saw the parade on Monday (it was great by the way, and we're not really parade people).

No you don't have to go to the parks at all or have tickets to the parks. Anyone can stay at a Disney resort without going to the parks.

I do know the answer to #2.

If you START your package on Dec 31st, which is not a value season, your entire TRIP is priced at HOLIDAY pricing. We found this out back when the dining plan changed on Jan 1st, the first day we got there. We debated the cost of the app and tip included in the DDP vs. paying holiday rates for the entire stay.

I suggest making 2 reservations, one night at holiday rate, and then the rest of your package in value rates. Each time we've been during value season they've offered something... the worst offer was free PH's, but it saved us $100.00!

As far as I know, this is not true any more about keeping the same rate for your whole trip when it spans 2 different price seasons. That did used to be true. Now you are charged per night based on whatever season it is. So when it switches from holiday to value, your rate per night will change accordingly (and sadly, the same thing happens when you go from value to holiday - we used to go in around President's Day and get a low rate for the whole trip if it started before the prices went up - this is no longer true).

But I do agree that making 2 reservations is the way to go if you have some kind of deal offered to you that you can't use during the holiday season, but could use starting a few days later.

Great thread! I have a question about APs and DDP and wasn't sure where to ask it...

Is there an exception made to the rule that everyone on a package must have the same ticket to add DDP if part of the group has APs? My party will be 2 adults and 1 under-3 for the first trip, but by the second trip the child will be 3 and therefore need a ticket. If the adults have APs, can I just buy a regular ticket for the child on the second trip and still add DDP for all of us? Or will the child need an AP as well on the second trip?

Do I need to get to HS at open in order to get a FP for TSM ? When we were there in February, the wait was 120 minutes all day. We didn't get too the park until 10:00 and FPs were all gone.

To answer your question I would really suggest being there when the rope drops as TSM tickets go fast and it is, in and of itself, a line just to get the FPs. What my family did was everyone gave me their tickets once through the turnstiles, I "ran" to TSM to get the fastpasses and my family went to queue up for RnR and save me a place.

Sorry, I'm full of questions!

1. Is there a better chance in getting a hotel upgrade if we book at one of the value resorts? (as we originally planned)

2. What's the average timing from making reservations to receiving an upgrade? Say if I reserved a value resort this December for the following December might we hear about an upgrade in February or the summer?

3. My party, however, is talking about staying at one of the moderate resorts so if we were trying to hold off for an upgrade and never received one would we, perhaps, be able to upgrade ourselves a month or so before departure?

Although there is great talk now of people who booked value being upgraded to deluxe accomodations, it is actually quite rare.

Disney has offered people who first booked value during the free dining upgrades to make room so to speak for others wanting to do so. Since the deluxe rooms were open with little chance of them being sold out so to speak it just made sense for Disney to move people who paid already to Deluxe to make room for other guest. Since many who have stayed in the upper resorts tend not to want to return to Values, this makes good business sense for Disney in the long run too.

That said, provided there is availablility, you could rebook your package at the moderate level, but I believe you have to cancel your existing package and completely rebook it.

My advice would be to go ahead and book the moderate if you really want it... if not, book the value resort if you are going to be fine staying there. (I have stayed at the value level twice and did like it)

My Question....
Do they turn on the Castle Dream Lights every night during the Holiday season or only on the Party nights?

According to this holiday schedule the Christmas Parade will be December 20 - 31.

We just got back a few weeks ago, and from what I can see, yes you need to get there at open. We hit that first thing and waited in line for maybe 45 minutes, and all fast passes were given away by mid morning. We did see at one time that it was a 20 minute wait so we go in line, but ended up leaving because it was no where near a 20 minute wait (more like an hour) and after standing in the same place for 20 min we realized we'd never have enough time.

I heard that WDW park ticket prices are going up August 1st...does anyone know if this true or rumor?...thanks...:goodvibes

Disney normally raises their ticket prices every year, so I wouldn't be surprised if this was true

I was just there in July and I didn't think the waits were bad at all. We walked right on in the morning and then ended up riding it 3 more times throughout the day, never waited more than 10 minutes. You just gotta make sure you go at the right times
