Nothing exciting going on here. I am hopefully taking a PTO day Tuesday which gives me Tuesday through Friday off! My mom is having dinner at 3, and I will helping with the mashed potatoes. She had surgery earlier in the year so she is still having problems :sad1: My dad will probably have dinner that same evening, but we usually don't eat much! All I want is turkey and pumpkin pie! Hopefully Rylan passes out from too much food, early!

Gotta go for now, he is calling me to come dance with him

 Aw, it's so hard when a loved one isn't feeling too great around the holidays. Your mom is lucky that she has such a great family to be around and take care of her! Hope Thanksgiving is great for you this year.

Attention Unicorns!

Just curious, when is your next trip to Disney (or when do you hope you'll get to Disney next!)?

I just figure we should start one of these incase 2 people have a trip planned for the same time. Then they could partaay! :woohoo:

Well, it's been over 3 years since my last trip to WDW and I don't really have plans to go back any time soon, unfortunately (I live on the East Coast of Canada, and going to Florida usually entails a)Paying through the nose to fly from my home airport, or b)Driving 3-6 hours to the States plus paying for a hotel room and flying a discount airline). HOWEVER, I might be going to Disneyland this coming May (cross your fingers!). The last time I was there was early 2001 and California Aventure has just opened. I'd be going with my best friend, who works in the travel industry; we've been to lots of places from China to Hawaii to Poland together. We love all things Disney and I know we'll have a blast...here's to hoping the trip to CA works out!!!:yay: :wizard:

:wave2: Welcome Kgle!

Ok, guys, since I'm such a woefully bad Threadmother, I need ya'll to check the master honorary memberlist and if you are on it- say "ON IT!" and if you're not on it say "NOT ON IT!" and than I won't be so lazy about updating it because it won't require scrolling through 10 pages of posts to figure out if I missed someone. :upsidedow

Hope everyone's weekend was good. I had a migraine for two days. And now I have a dull headache.

Argh. And not the good argh. pirate:

On a good note, I totally scored Butterscotch for Rachael from Santa for Christmas! :santa: Gotta love Craigslist. Got that baby for $165! But I might have to play with her some more because she needs new batteries and I'm not 100% sure she's into eating her carrots so we'll see. Can't have an anorexic Butterscotch now, can we?

Also in other good news, and in answer to question above, the in-laws agreed to meet in the World next December '09 for 4 nt land/3 nt cruise in honor of DH/my anniversary and DH's 30th birthday!   We haven't vacationed together since 2006 and they came for a visit in August '07! So..... yay! :woohoo:

I'm also hoping for a trip for May, but we'll see about tax funds. :cool2:

Have a great morning!

Hey threadmommy--I'M ON IT!!

Starr: so sorry you live so far away!!

Kgle: I hope your mom feels better soon. That is so hard for not only her but you and her family.

Alright, alright-- a couple of Disney trips in the works. Whenever you are confirmed POST and I will create a list of when everyone is going incase 2 people's trip's overlap.

Julez: Glad you got Butterscotch, that thing looks so cool. Anorexic Butterscotch,
And I have no idea where Sass is..We miss you, Sass!

Hi, everyone! :wave2:

starrzone- I hope you're able to go to Disneyland next year! :goodvibes That's awesome that you've been able to travel to so many places. It's fun to see new places, isn't it? I really want to visit Italy, Egypt, Costa Rica, New York, and Prince Edward Island (I'm a big Anne of Green Gables fan).

julez- I'm on it, too! :cool1:

Your a great Thread Mommy, Julez! We love you! :grouphug:

My family and I are planning to go to WDW in December '09, too! Hopefully, we'll see you there! :woohoo:

By the way, I haven't seen Sassy, either. :confused3

A penny for your thoughts.....

Rora asked a great question.
How are we going to decide who's in the top 10/15/20/whatever? OR should we just leave it a big comprehensive list?

What do you guys think? Should we vote on a top 10 or have a Unicorn "Hall of Hotties" (or the Unicorn "Man Candy Hall of Fame")?

I'm a big Anne of Green Gables fan
Okay, I totally am too.

Except the first book scared me a lot. I read them when I was pretty little and was totally freaked out about the "Haunted Forest" or whatever it was. From what I remember she vividly described the ghosts and I, having an overactive imagination, was really really terrified. :scared1:

Butterscotch pony is creepy! DD wanted it last year. I saide no way! Ds wanted that D Rex toy this year. It is a remote controlled dino- $150. I said no to that, too!
I am going on a girls night out in a bit. All dolled up waiting for dh to come home. Ho hum...

Oooh! Have fun tonight! I saw that Dinosaur at Target.. it was really scary. I don't think I'd let my kid have that..

Tigger: I think we should just have a Man Candy Hall of Fame. :woohoo: :rolleyes1 :thumbsup2 :cool2:

Woohoo! You're an Anne fan, too! :cool1: Nice to see another "kindred spirit". Anne was, is, and always will be my hero. I really wanted to attend one of the 100th anniversary festivities that they had in Prince Edward Island this past year, but it didn't work out. :sad2: I definitely want to go there someday, though. Oh, and the Haunted Wood scared me, too! I'll never forgive Marilla for making her go through the Haunted Wood at night!

Have fun painting the town! :woohoo:

Sounds good to me. :thumbsup2 Anyone else?

Good morning everyone!

I'm happy to report that after three days of having my brain under a semi truck, I'm on the mend. I am under influence of drugs, my equallibrium is off, I find myself talking to myself, I'm dizzy and my eyes are involuntarily crossing at times, however, my headache is gone. Which, if you suffer from migraines and chronic headaches as I do, you'd know is preferable.
:rotfl:

So with that, I'll go to work, and see patients and pretend to be fine. And deal with attitude from co-workers who think I was faking it yesterday. Ahhh.... I love working.... :cloud9:

:scared:

Just keep swimming.....just keep swimming....:fish:

Actually... I just vote for Chatum whatever-his-name-was. He's hot.

Later, ladies.

And seriously, the forest freaked you out? LOL! :scared1:

I, too, had a vivid imagination but I thought it was charming, not scary!

Have a nice day, ladies!

PS- Got a quote for Rachael's birthday trip in May- Checking in the 3rd and out on the 6th. She turns 6 on the 4th! Staying at Pop! Have to pay the deposit by next Monday so it's probably a no-go but I just wanted them to run the numbers and I love to keep a dream alive-even if only for 1 week! Tee hee hee!

Julez- for your migraines! My youngest sister is on daily meds for them and I get them sometimes, but thankfully not enough for meds. I have been known to take hers...bad, I know!
Rora and Tig- I don't think I ever read "Anne of Green Gables". Don't know how I missed it since I was/am a bookworm!

Had so much fun last night! Went out with coworkers for the girls night- there were a few guys, but they fir that category, if you kwim! I got to chat and "bond" with a few a little more than at work, so that was nice. I am still kind of new there.
Mom and sis are on their way over to shopand lunch. Should shower, huh?
Have a gret day!

Your co-workers sound like jerks. Definitley not Kindred Spirits or Unicorns. :snooty:

I hope you get to go for Rachael's birthday! :wizard:

Paint: you need to read Anne of Green Gables. Seriously. I loved them. :lovestruc

Happy Tuesday!

Lucy, I'm home!!

Hi, ladies! :wave2: I hope you had a great day.

julez- I'm sorry to hear that you've been having such bad migraines. I'm glad that your feeling better now. Don't worry about your co-workers. As long as you know that you're not lying, that all that really matters.

I hope that you'll be able to go to WDW for your DD's birthday!

paint- I'm glad you had a great time last night. I hope that you and your mom and sister had a great time shopping and lunching. :goodvibes

You definitely should read Anne of Green Gables. Anne of Green Gables was the first of the Anne books by L. M. Montgomery. There are 8 books in the set. It's neat because the books follow Anne from childhood to adulthood.

Oooh, A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving is on!!! :cool1:  Talk to you guys later!

Lucy, I'm home!!
Tigger! Yay! Hope you had a nice day..

Is anyone going away for Thanksgiving? Did we already talk about this? I know we posted menus (except for me, considering DFiance and I are going to my grandma's for dinner only because I don't want to have to eat leftovers for like 2 weeks- I have leftover issues. Don't ask. :rolleyes1  ).

BTW- Christmas is in exactly one month from today for all those that celebrate!! :santa: :cool1:

For anyone who was wondering where I was, I lost my job but the next day I found a new one working at the local paper. It was just a temp job and might have only lasted three weeks or so but they referred me to another department and now I'm here for a while. Not only that, it ended up being a $3/hour raise over the job that I lost. But I've been settling in and we all know that takes a while with a new job.
Oh, and looking at some of the posts....anyone who hasn't read Anne of Green Gables needs to.

Thanksgiving is going to be a small affair at my house this year- just our little fam of three this year- maybe my parents too. And a spiral ham.

The big meal will be Sat. at my brother's with the whole fam- all 16 of us & the bird. Yum!

That will be following DD's and my first ever live performance viewing of The Nutcracker by the Rockford Ballet Company and Rockford Symphony Orchestra w/special guests w/Joffrey Ballet and Florida Ballet Company! I'm so excited! We're getting dressed up and everything!

Congrats on the new job, Sass! Glad to see you back! I'm looking for a new job, too! I just can't stand mine anymore and dread coming every day. Def. need a new "place where everybody knows your name."

I'm so glad you got another job.. hey- at least you got a raise! I hope you get settled in soon.

Julez: Sounds like a good Thanksgiving plan! Aww, your first Nutcracker!! I love the Nutcracker (but I'm a Ballet freak). It truly is a gorgeous ballet. My 2nd favorite! My girlfriends and I are going this December and we're so excited! :dance3:

Another Anne fan here; my family is actually from PEI (well, my parents are and about 75% of our relatives live there) and we have a summer cottage there. It's actually about a 10-minute drive away from Anne of Green Gables house, depending on summer traffic. Here's a view from the front deck:

Summer07032.jpg

In the middle right of the picture, you can sort of see a sliver of red soil. It's really nice to look at, but a pain in the rear to try and get out of clothing! Getting back to Anne, they are such good books and unlike anything that has ever been written. L.M. Montgomery's grave in Cavendish is like a shrine; it always has flowers near it and a large plaque as well. I worked at a gift shop in PEI one summer that sold the complete set of 8 books and I think I went through all of them that summer during slow times! :)

I don't remember anyone mentioning Nancy Drew books; not the hardcovers, but the ones that started coming out in 1986 or so. I got one when I was about 8, but it was too "grown up" for me at the time:rotfl2: (I was hardcore BSC!:thumbsup2 ). I picked it up a year or so later and was hooked. Heck, I think I read them from aboubt 1991 to 1995! Oh, and I secretly hoped that Nancy would hook up with Frank Hardy:cool2: ; he seemed MUCH cooler than boring old Ned.

Hey, girls! Ready for Thanksgiving? Bring on the food, baby!!! :woohoo: :cool1:

I'm taking a break from cooking and baking for now. I wanted to do a lot of things in advance to save me from going completely out of my mind tomorrow.

Rora- Nope, we're not going away for Thanksgiving. But we are going away for Christmas this year (LA and San Francisco). I hope that you and your DFiance have a great Thanksgiving at your grandma's house! :goodvibes

sweetandsassy- Glad to have you back! :wave2: We've missed you! In case you haven't noticed, we've been posting pictures of hot guys for our Unicorn "Hottest Men" list. It all started on page 18 with Rora's brilliant suggestion. :)

By the way, I'm glad that you were able to find a new job so quickly! :thumbsup2

julez- That's awesome that you'll be seeing The Nutcracker. I've always wanted to see that ballet, but I've never gotten a chance to. I hope you have a great Thanksgiving with your family. :goodvibes

starrzone- All right! Another "kindred spirit"!! That's so awesome that you have family members and a cottage on PEI. I'm sooo jealous!! I bet it's so beautiful there.

I never got around to reading the Nancy Drew books when I was a kid, but they've always interested me. I love mysteries. I saw that they had some Nancy Drew movies on the Turner Classic Movies channel (do you have that in Canada?) a while ago, but I missed them. :sad2:
