The Trip That Almost Wasn't - December '09 (We are BACK!!!! TR to start soon)

Thank you, she's got the perfect mix of excitement and apprehension right now. And she gets to help me run the Band Boosters Can/Bottle Drive for 4 Sundays to help raise money for the trip :thumbsup2

We'll DVR it too and I'll let y'all know where she is when I've watched it ;)

It is pretty cool - too bad it didn't work our for you to be able to do it when you were in HS. Darned personality conflicts :headache: And yes, I'm very happy we're not having to chaperone - whoohoo! :woohoo:

That probably would be funny, especially with me in costume. I'll see about one of us recording me with their cell phone's vid camera while I beat it into submission :rotfl2:

Oh yes - make sure you know the status of your traveling companion's feet. I went on many a road trip when I was younger and all it takes is one person. Worst was a Texas road trip in an old Caddilac Eldorado + 5 guys + one case of trench foot :scared1:

I'm sure y'all will be fine though ;)

Not a bad idea at all :thumbsup2

Will definitely dvr it so we can see her :goodvibes

Dec. 15, 2010 :lovestruc

I think DLR and Hawaii sounds great for your 20th

Carla.....Doggies are sooooooooooo cute :lovestruc

ewww...feet out the window...I'm just thinking "poor cars around you!"
Haha! I think it is distracting. Instead of watching the road, you're looking at feet!:lmao:
I think Dan may have just given me an idea as to what Tomato and I are doing for our 20th wedding anniversary next year! :scratchin

And Carla, your doggies are so cute! :goodvibes
Yes, you too can have a ton of funo!:lmao:

Seriously though, 20 years? How do you put up with somebody that long? I have been married for 11, together for 13. I get so sick of Joe sometimes. I think I let him go out so much just because I can't stand to be around him for very long.
Dec. 15, 2010 :lovestruc
:scared1: I was in eighth grade when you got married.

Finally watched the video of Lexie and her teddy bear -- she is a cutie!:cutie:

Just wanted to pop over and do the under 2 month dance

:dancer::dancer::dancer::dancer::dancer::dancer:

Thanks! I seriously didn't think anyone here would know what I was talking about. Nice to know I'm not the only one that watches Tarantino! Love him!! And YES that movie was so GREAT!! I really could have done without Mike Meyers though. I think Bill Nyge would have been a much better cast for that roll. I'm thinking Mike did a little naughty favor to Tarantino to get that roll if you catch my drift. I just can't see them working together for any other reason than that. What do you think??

Hehe, yup - there is at least one more fan here ;) Ohhh, I hated Mike Meyers cameo - it sooo took me out of the moment. I don't know what he did to deserve it, but I wish he hadn't done it.

Oh and one more thing, Mike! Chris told me this last night......

be expecting

KILL BILL 3!!!!!

in 2014.

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: Hopefully you can figure out why he would want to release it in 2014. I'm SO excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh really? Very cool indeed :cool2: Wikipedia has some good info on it, and the 2014 date just seems to have to do with him doing another film before doing KB3.

Will definitely dvr it so we can see her :goodvibes

True that about the feet - distracting on many levels

Roxy and I have 15 years in on our marriage and we make it work by having things we do together AND things we do apart. It all comes together to keep us both reasonably sane

8th grade aye? Let me see ....when they got married I was in Germany in the Army. We were ramping up for Desert Storm and waiting to see if my unit would deploy

Whoohoo! :cool1:

Gotcha beat though - we're under the 7 day mark for our DLR trip :dance3: :yay: :woohoo: :yay: :dance3:

Sweet! I'm glad you agree with me. I've only talked to one person so far that was actually happy to see him in the flick.

Well, If you think about it a little bit more, remember the daughter of the black chick that Beatrix killed in the beginning of the first Kill Bill? Beatrix looked at her after she killed her mother and told her that if she's still ill after 10 years go by and she wants revenge to come and find her. The first Kill Bill was put out in 2003 so if he puts out #3 in 2014 then that would actually be an 11 year seperation. That's Chris' theory as to why Tarentino is waiting until 2014 to release #3. He's gonna bring that little girl back for revenge. If you read any of the interviews that he has done on the subject that is where he has said he would expand the story on. I'm excited for it and I hope he goes through with it.

15 years is great! And that's exactly what Chris and I do too....things separately and things together. It works out well that way :goodvibes

Wow, I had no idea you were ever in the Army. That's super neat! So did you wind up getting deployed? I have a friend that was in the Army around Desert Storm too. And he was deployed. He's now an Orlando Police Officer.

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: you're so close now!!!

:scared1: I was in eighth grade when you got married.

and I was EIGHT! ;)

:rotfl2:

sorry, I just had to do it too!

WOW, I'm with Carla on that question...were you deployed?

Well that makes sense about waiting the 10 years real time - just the kind of thing Tarantino would do. And it would be very cool if he wrangled the actual girl who played the daughter to reprise the role. And the wiki page did quote that it was going to be about revenge on the bride.

Yes, it is a good formula for us. We just need to find more time to get away from the kids ...if only for an evening. More dinners and movies and such. Heck, I like just driving around in the countryside with her with no destination in mind. See where the road takes us.

Yup, I did 4 years, from 1987-91. I trained in Ft Sill, OK and was stationed in Ft. Hood, TX and Baumholder (then) West Germany, which is in the Bavarian Alps near the French border. I was an MLRS (Multiple Launch Rocket Systems) crewmenber and drove a huge rocket resupply vehicle called a HEMTT and also the rocket launcher itself.

I was in for Desert Storm but my unit did not deploy - they only took full batallions of MLRS over there and we were a single unit. Instead we pulled gate guard in the snow to make sure "terrorists" didn't try to drive on to our wonderfully secluded post.

I was also in Germany for the fall of the Berlin wall, which was very cool. We were actually in a training area called Grafenwoehr or "Graf" on the east/west border when it all happened. Here's a pic of my platoon from that exercise (I'm up front crouching):

And zoomed out to see the HEMTT I drove:

And a close-up of me (don't I look cute):

And an interesting aside, the post at Baumholder was actually constructed in the mid-1930s by nazi Germany. The barracks I lived in were formerly German cavalry barracks. Here's a shot of the field where we played sports and did ceremonies in - before and after:

Minnick.JPG

Back to the fall of the wall - we convoyed back from Graf surrounded by carloads of East German families who had everything they owned stuffed into these little "trabi" cars. It was an interesting time for sure.

and I was EIGHT! ;)

8 aye? Hehehe, well that's okay - I still feel like a kid despite my age :goodvibes

See above in my reply to Carla about deploying.

Oh yes, only 4 days now and everyone seems to be reasonably healthy

WOW Mustard. Love your pics. Sounds like you had a very cool military career :thumbsup2

Well, it looks like I'm gonna have to change my DLR ticker. Chris and I talked while we were at dinner on Friday night and I told him that I just don't think that my Dad is going to be kosher with me going out of town for 2 weeks straight. It's a small company and I handle a lot there that he has to do whenever I'm not there. So since Chris still won't fly commercial we decided to do land and sea to celebrate his birthday next year. But we will do it in December. September is just too hot and plus with going in December that will give us some more time to get the trip paid for. All in all it's just gonna work out better for us. I'm still excited and think the cruise will be fun. This leaves us another week of vacation time free for me from work so we can plan some other type of vacation. We're thinking DC possibly. I'm trying to talk Chris into getting AP's next year too. He wants to take a weekend long trip down to disney for MNSSHP in Sept or Oct and maybe we will go again for our anniversary. So if we do those two trips, plus a week down there in December again they will pay have paid for themselves. I hope he gives in. I want to have the option to go to Disney on the weekends when I want :thumbsup2 Maybe we'll even make it down for the 4th of July. hmmmmmm

Anyways, that's what's going on right now. I have some updates on our park days for this triip. I'll probably post that tomorrow since I didn't get it up on Friday and I'm guessing it will be slow at work since most everyone else is off for Columbus day. Hope everyone has had a good weekend. :goodvibes
