The Trip That Almost Wasn't - December '09 (We are BACK!!!! TR to start soon)

Your must-do list looks great! We made our must-do list either last week or the week before. I have to find time to post it in my PTR.

Thanks Kelly!

Fingers crossed! I keep trying to tell him how neat it is but I doubt he'll get on it. The sensation of flying and knowing he's high up........:scared1:<-----that's his reaction. I'll be doing good to get him on BTMRR. I'm trying to tell him that one is like Goofy's Barnstormer, only a little faster. Wonder if he believes me.

I'm thinking the reasons we didn't like AK so much is because 1) too hot (as you said) and 2) I got really clausterphobic due to all the trees (thinking if I walk further into the park as soon as we get there, out into the open that will help) and 3) all we did was Kilimanjaro Safari and Rifiki's Planet watch. That took up half the day right there and we were SO ready to go by the time we got back out to where the Tree of Life is. I'm willing to brave it again just so I can ride EE! Super excited for that! :woohoo: Plus thinking the EMH's will help too. Fingers crossed.

I think Barnstormers is faster than Big Thunder Mountain...:rotfl:

Soarin is my absolute, hands down favorite ride. I could ride it all day. :cloud9: Maybe if you tell the CM's of his height fear they can put you in the the bottom row? :confused3

I think Barnstormers is faster than Big Thunder Mountain...:rotfl:

 You might be right! I love BMTRR! :lovestruc Sara (mom2mek) just posted a video on her TR of them riding it.... got me so excited!!! I can't wait!

Thanks girl :goodvibes yeah! We gotta see your must do's :thumbsup2

:rotfl: I might have to see if I can find that info online so I can prove it to Chris.

Yeah good idea. I mentioned riding it on the bottom before to Chris and he didn't really say anything. Have you ridden it on the bottom? I've only ridden it on the top so i have no idea how far off the ground the bottom gets.

oooooooo that sounds awesome! I can't wait too!!

I just checked on the all knowing Wikipedia and Goofy's top speed is 20mph and Big Thunder Mountain Rail Road's top speed is 35mph. I have no idea if he'll get on it. That's really not fast at all but I know SM's top speed is 35mph too and he hated it. I think mostly because it was in the dark. We'll see. :confused3

Tell him it is like Test Track on the end part, where you race around track, but instead of track, you are racing on a hill (moutain) :rotfl:

 yeah maybe that would work. I was just telling him about it and he didn't seem like he wouldn't get on it. I said "well, just make your decision while we're in line. At least you can watch it go around a few times before you decide to get on it or not. " He said, "yeah, that's usually how I roll". I think that was the other reason he didn't like SM since you can't see any of the ride before you actually get on it.

Oh good..sounds promising :thumbsup2

Hey Carla! Finally checking back in after our DLR trip - whoohoo!

WOW Mustard. Love your pics. Sounds like you had a very cool military career :thumbsup2

Thankyee! It was a colorful time for sure. I made some great friends and had some amazing adventures :thumbsup2

Mike ~ thank you so much for sharing your pictures with us. That is just SO neat! I'm glad you guys didn't actually get deployed. What a fantastic experiance that must have been. You look so bad a$$ with that gun next to that HUGE truck!!

You're welcome! Looking back I still have mixed feelings about not having deployed. But my fam is with you about being happy that I didn't ;) Thanks for the compliment about the pic - we weren't exactly a "hard core" bunch, but we looked the part with all that gear :rotfl2:

As of 8:35am this morning, this trip is......

PAID IN FULL!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'M SO SO SO EXCITED!!! WOOHOO!!!!

And I'll have another update coming later today. :thumbsup2

YAHOOO!!!!! :woohoo: :yay: :woohoo: :yay: :woohoo:

Well, it looks like I'm gonna have to change my DLR ticker. Chris and I talked while we were at dinner on Friday night and I told him that I just don't think that my Dad is going to be kosher with me going out of town for 2 weeks straight. It's a small company and I handle a lot there that he has to do whenever I'm not there. So since Chris still won't fly commercial we decided to do land and sea to celebrate his birthday next year. But we will do it in December. September is just too hot and plus with going in December that will give us some more time to get the trip paid for. All in all it's just gonna work out better for us. I'm still excited and think the cruise will be fun. This leaves us another week of vacation time free for me from work so we can plan some other type of vacation. We're thinking DC possibly. I'm trying to talk Chris into getting AP's next year too. He wants to take a weekend long trip down to disney for MNSSHP in Sept or Oct and maybe we will go again for our anniversary. So if we do those two trips, plus a week down there in December again they will pay have paid for themselves. I hope he gives in. I want to have the option to go to Disney on the weekends when I want :thumbsup2 Maybe we'll even make it down for the 4th of July. hmmmmmm

Anyways, that's what's going on right now. I have some updates on our park days for this triip. I'll probably post that tomorrow since I didn't get it up on Friday and I'm guessing it will be slow at work since most everyone else is off for Columbus day. Hope everyone has had a good weekend. :goodvibes

Some big changes for sure, but I like the idea of all of those little trips. Roxy has the same problem that you do, being the office manager and only real office person for the business she works for. Makes it hard to get away for any lenght of time ...especially with payroll every 2 weeks.

Ok, as promised, I'm finally getting around to my update. Trying to get it in here before work gets busy (if that actually happens today).

It's really nothing major but I figured it would be appropriate to put this up here today since today is my 45 day mark!! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: Disney says it's tomorrow but that is because I'm not actually checking into Pop until December 4th but we are driving down to visit my grandparents on the 3rd. So today is 45 days!! WooHoo!!!!!

Anyways, my update is just a list of what I think our "Must Do's" will/should be this year at each park. Whether or not we make it to all of them all depends on what happens while we are there but I'm certainly going to try my best.

Here it is. Our "Must Do's" at each park (and then some)

I'm going to start off by saying that two of my Must Do's are at resorts. First of all is the Contemporary. I have dinner scheduled at pretty much every other deluxe resort that I want to see the decorations at except for this one. I have heard that they have a huge gingerbread house there so I wanna see it.

The next one is the Boardwalk. I've never been there and really want to make it over there this time to see what I'm missing out on. Plus I want to see the decorations and hit up Jelly Rolls. :thumbsup2

Must Do's at Magic Kingdom

*Big Thunder Mountain Rail Road (I doubt Chris will get on this but I will so he'll just have to wait while I ride)
*Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin (one of Chris' favorites.....maybe I'll get lucky and beat his score this time )
*Carousel of Progress (this is a classic and must be ridden at least once every trip)
*Country Bears Jamboree (this is another classic and I've heard they do a special Christmas show)
*Hall of Presidents (I could care less about this but I know they have updated since Obama got into office and Chris loves history so we manage to make it here every trip. I just enjoy the comfy seats and AC)
*Haunted Mansion (I'm sure we'll ride this more than once)
*It's A Small World (I've loved this ride ever since I was a child so it's a must do)
*Mad Tea Party (because I'm in for punishment)
*Mickey's Philharmagic
*Peter Pan's Flight
*Pirates of The Caribbean (we'll be on this more than once as well)
*Space Mountain (Chris won't ride this either.....not after '07 )
*Splash Mountain (another one Chris won't ride again but I have the picture hung on the wall to prove that he at least did it once)
*Tomorrow Land Transit Authority (when we need a break)

EPCOT

-Future World
*Innoventions
*Nemo
*Soarin' (I haven't been able to talk Chris into this one yet due to the heights that the seats go to but cross your fingers...maybe he'll try it this year)
*Spaceship Earth
*Test Track (I asked Chris how many times he was gonna ride this one and he said at least 5 or 6......I told him to shoot for 9 for the year)

-World Showcase
*Hit a shop in each country
*O'Canada (because my Mom is French Canadian and so is Chris' dad and we still haven't seen the new show yet)
*Gran Fiesta Tour
*Maelstrom
(the last two are mainly because there's not many rides in the World Showcase)

MGM

*American Idol Experiance
*Fantasmic
*The Great Movie Ride
*Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular
*Animation Studio (I'm bound and determined to get into a class where they are drawing Stitch this year!!)
*Muppet Vision 3D
*Rock n Roller Coaster
*Star Tours (I'll ride this once, Chris will ride it over and over again if there is no line)
*Tower of Terror (really wanna ride this more than once this year)
*Toy Story Mania (I wonder if the fact that I have the Wii game will ruin the ride experiance for me.......that would suck)

Animal Kingdom

Sidenote: We haven't spent more than a few hours here before. My goal is to stay longer here this time and really enjoy ourselves. Tired of saying there is a Disney park that I don't like at all.

*Dinosaur
*Expedition Everest (really wanna ride this one in the dark.....thank goodness for EMH's!!)
*It's Tough To Be A Bug
*Kali River Rapids (this one all depends on how cold it is the day we are at AK)
*Pangani Forest Exploration (wanna see the gorillas!!)

So that's it. Our "must do" list! Comments from the peanut gallery?

WOW! Quite the list there! Love your choice except I agree with Chris about Space Mountain. That ride should be re-titled "The Whiplash Express". I did ride the "Ghost Galaxy" themed SM at DLR though, smoother ride overall and cool halloween effects :thumbsup2

Good luck getting Stitch in the animation studios and hope you get to ride ToT more than once! And I agree about AK - just need to take the time and really drink that place in. It almost seemed an afterthought on our trip.

Hopefully he'll do Big Thunder with ya, it is pretty fun and not near as whiplashey/dark as SM

Hey there Mike! Thanks for stopping by :goodvibes:

 well, as long as you look hard core that's all that matters.

Thanks. I think it will be fun and we might even get to see Kelly again in the mix. :thumbsup2 That stinks that Roxy has that problem too. I feel her pain. It really stinks. And we have payroll every week here. But when I'm not here my Dad does it even though he hates it. He hates to do the tedious things.

Thank ya. Yeah SM is pretty whiplashy. I think with the renovation having just taken place when we get there in December it will be better. Or at least I'm hoping. I can't wait to ride the new version. The halloween themed one at DLR sounds awesome though.

Thanks! Yeah, that's what I'm going to try to do at AK this year. I am thinking I might go and see my Dr to get some kind of meds for my panic attacks before we go to WDW this year. Thinking just having the meds will help. And maybe I can take one before going to AK so I don't get the closed in feeling before we get into the park far enough for me to not feel like I'm trapped. The older I get the worse these panic attacks seem to get.

Thanks. I really hope I can convince him to ride. I think he would enjoy it if he just tried.

I got new shoes. Not specifically for WDW but I will be taking them there. Super excited!! I love new shoes!!! :woohoo:

Very Cute shoes Carla.

I love the 2nd Pair...:cutie:

I normally go for white sneakers but for some reason those brown shoes look really sweet! Maybe b/c I'm hungry for chocolate...:lmao:
