Yeah, I do but I have not mentioned this trip at all on Facebook. I will post pictures on there for sure.

Really? Talk about self control. I feel like I can't stop talking about it. LOL
But then again you're on here to talk about it.

And I would talk about more on there if I was going on a family trip, but going on a trip without Scotty, and our teenagers I get enough comments on here that I don't want the slings and arrows on there.

Boy do I understand that. I can talk about it more freely now that my sister removed me from her FB. We had a falling out last summer and she removed me saying it "bothered her" to see the pictures of all the family stuff we were doing since she lives in Washington state and we're in California. My son went camping with "Papa" this past summer and it bothered her to see the pictures. At least that's her story. I can't help that they chose to move away but I don't feel my sons life should be stopped and not be able to share the happy things we do.

Oh wow that is sad. No, your son deserves to have this time with his "Papa". My dad died when my son was three and his other grandpa is not part of our regular life so he didn't have that relationship and he really has missed it. Especially since his best friends grandpa was a huge part of the friends life. He told me that he missed having a papa when he was 8 years old and I cried. It is unfair of our sister to lay that back on you. She chose to move.

My sister does the I'm jealous posts and it embarrasses me. Hers is a case of they cannot afford the trips to Disneyland because they choose to not work. I learned to just ignore it.

I am so sorry. I had such a great relationship with my grandparents and I'm so thankful my son does with my parents as well. He doesn't see his dads parents often enough and they live just minutes from us. Those are some tough words for a 8 year old.....a little boy and their "Papa" is such a special bond.
I don't blame you for ignoring the posts from your sister like that. My ex husband does that to me all the time. I just tell him well having a full time job can do wonders for you. You should try it sometime. He's out of work all the time and when he does it's less than 12 hours a week.

Loren is okay with it now but it was rough for a while. My dad was great when they were little and one of their biggest joys was when they would sit on his lap and he would read to them. He had this great reading voice, and he would read as long as they would sit and listen. My oldest Kacy would bring him a stack of books and would sit there on is lap and listen to papa read until they both fell asleep. Yeah, a Papa is an important part of your life. My grandpa lived to the ripe old age of 99 and he was a huge part of my life and my kids. He kind of took the place of my dad as the kids papa. I still miss him terribly.

That is just so incredibly sweet. I don't think the sadness ever really goes away. I just try to think about how lucky I am to have the memories I do have. I still remember going to Disneyland with my grandparents, that's why I'm so excited for this trip. Ayden will always remember this first trip with Papa.

With me it was fishing trips, him teaching me how to sail a boat. That I remember and his story telling. And mostly the fact that he ever made me feel like I was anything less than the most important person to him when we talked.

calling my dad right now so the kids can talk to their grandpa. He drives a truck so getting to see him is a hit and miss. Thank goodness for cell phones with bluetooth!!!! Grandpa's are the BEST!!!!!

Your Grandkids will thank you for it someday!

I know they will. Thank you.
