The Sweet Meet - Dis'ers do Hershey

OK, I will call and give them a heads up. Do you think it's too early to call today? Should I call maybe Monday or Tuesday, that way it gives them notice, but, it's not too far off?

No today is probably good - gives them enough time to schedule extra deliveries and staffing, if they decide they need it :goodvibes Thx Andrea! :worship:

cheers,
:flower3:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

A heads up is probably appreciated - I'm sure they're busy every summer Saturday but at least they'll know to have a good standby of mise en place in order - top of their fixing bar :rotfl: Might think about how they sched their breaks/shift. I'm guessing we might up their business a quarter to half of a regular nite so they might have to chop up a few more potatoes. :confused3 :rotfl:

Thx a mint Andrea for doing all the phoning and keeping on top of everything - hopefully this is the last call you have to make!

cheers,
:flower3:

You do mean Friday, right???

Chris and I love the coasters, so if anyone wants to watch the kids..... ;)

Also, I downloaded the free Hersheypark app last night. It's pretty decent. Found out there is a Dunkin Donuts and Cold Stone Creamery inside the park.

Ummm Coldstone. I am not sure what we are going to do in the park. I like coasters, but Pam and Otto not so much. It feels a little weird not to have a plan of attack.

I'm thinking the same thing. The maps I have found online aren't much help to me either.

Probably going to call for a special morning 'prescription' (aka mimosa) to keep the jitters and anxiety away. But at least I'll be with a ton of friends. :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes I think we could have a good time in a field of cow pies.

To respond to a few items (iPhone app isn't the easiest at quoting multiple people)...

In chocolate world, there is what we call the obscure candy section. This has items not easily found in the stores.

Fudruckers is counter service style, but they may have a side room for us (haven't been there in a while).

One nice thing about HP is that there are different type of rides everywhere. There isn't one kid section or mile ride section or coaster section. They are all over the park.

Best plan of attack...this would probably be go to storm runner and farenheit (sp?) first so the lines aren't too long. If anyone is just doing the boardwalk (water section) or needs a locker go there first. They are $10 for a small (1'x1x1) or $15 for a large (1'x1'x2). You rent them all day and get an RFID bracelet to wear.

If you aren't interested in many rides, they have a walk (not on the maps) which will take you through most of the park. It's called the life walk.

One item to note while planning with packing and what not. HP has a lot of hills and big ones. It is not flat at all. So, make sure you prepare for that.

OK, I will call later - I have never worked in the restaurant business, so I have no idea about these things :confused3

That could be dangerous..... Iced latte's and ice cream are our weakess!!

Thank you Mr. Wimpy for your words of advice!!!

I'm a coaster freak (usually have AP to Cedar Point) so if anyone wants a ride spouse/child/fling, I'm your man!

I may be looking for a Coaster Fling when my Coaster Husband is with his other Coaster Wife.

Pam and Otto are going to be soaking up the shade eating Cold Stone ice cream with me! :)

Bill might be "your man" on some rides if DS10 doesn't want to ride the more adventurous rides.

Does anyone know if we are allowed to do a rider swap-type thing at the platform for rides like Storm Runner and Fahrenheit? Both Bill and I want to ride them. But, DS4 and DD7 will NOT be riding them. :dance3:

:confused3 I've been pre-warned by my neighbor, she grew up in Harrisburg and has been to Hershey Park many times, it WILL be crowded on Saturday. :crowded: It is the last hoorah weekend for most kids before school starts. Also, expect lots of teenage girls due to the JB concert. So, the rollercoaster lines will be long for sure! So, I assume we need to do the big rides first (ie: Storm Runner and Fahrenheit). :thumbsup2

The park opens at 10 am on Saturday. We plan to be at the park around 9:15 am because we still need to purchase tickets.

We plan to visit Hershey's Chocolate World on Sunday (Hours: 9 am - 10 pm) if anyone want to join us. The Tour is free (approximately 15 minutes long). You get two hours of free parking while on the tour and exploring the store. My neighbor said the Trolley Tour is great! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the reminder!! A dollar saved is a dollar I can spend some place else! (like at coldstone...or on chocolate)

Any other Must get Chocolate treats?

Mark

The frozen Mochas in Chocolate World are the best that I have found in our area. Also, the chicken tenders are a bit pricey but you can get them with Chocolate BBQ sauce. Love. If you go to the chocolate world website, you can print BOGO coupons for the cookies.

Have fun! I work in the season pass office at the park part time but I will be out of town this weekend and will miss your event. Let me know if you have any questions. I'd be glad to help my fellow Disers.

A couple more tips regarding Hershey Park -

When you enter the main gate and climb the first hill, there is a statue and a fountain in front of the carousel, a great place to meet or have your photo take by the park photogropher for purchase on the way out later.

There is a nice food court (AIR CONDITIONED) back on the far right side of the park, near the zoo and Kissing Tower. Lots of space and tables and the only place in the park to get a cold beer. I think the area is called Minetown.

Right above that food court there is an old style arcade, with quite a few vintage games like pinball, skee ball and such, always brings back memories.

The park also has a lot of carnival/boardwalk style games spread through out. Be carefull you could end up with a five foot stuffed animal to lug around all day.

Try the homemade potato chips at the stand near the Sidewinder Coaster, they are incredible. This is in another area where there are different food vendors and shaded tables.

If you ride Tidal Force, every square inch of you will be wet.

Have fun!

I know we signed up last minute but can we be included in the Friday dinner plans? There will be 4 of us , me, my dh, dd's. 16 & 12. My dh and I don't do many rides but my dd's love them. I'm looking forward to the water park.

We visited HP for the first time last year and I remember the food being on the high side. I think zoo America is worth doing also.

I don't think the food prices are crazy high, but I will say it is not bad quality for amusement park fare. An order of their chicken fingers with fries and a cold beverage always recharges my batteries for the afternoon adventures.

Thanks Jennifer!

Like Todd, a dollar saved is another I can spend on chocolate or cocktails!

Can't wait to see you and Bill next week!

Anyone have a clue on how must in coins I will need for the toll roads?

Merge onto I-76 E/PENNSYLVANIA TURNPIKE via EXIT 58 toward HARRISBURG/EXITS 91-359 (Portions toll).

Just trying to figure out how many rolls of quarters I'll need.

Thanks,

Mark
