Funchal, Madeira
We woke up, showered and got dressed. Went up to topsiders to get some breakfast and then went down on the dock to meet everyone for our tour. Noel had organized this tour and we were all very excited. We were in van #4 Tinker Bell. It was a great group of folks.
This is where I need to explain that Stephanie and I each have a few little quirks.
I am terrified of snakes and spiders. Just cannot be around them. On one trip, Stephanie and one of my sisters thought it would be cool if we went into a 4-D show in Stone Mountain, Georgia but didnt tell me that at the end a snake looks like it is coming out of the screen.

I could not get out of the theater fast enough. When my hubby and I lived in Hawaii, I knew there were a lot of spiders especially Daddy Long Legs and I also knew the Geckos took care of them so I just kept my big girl pants on and lived with it for three years before we came back home. I also do not like certain bridges. Really go into panic attacks. My first bridge was a seven mile one traveling down to Key West, Florida. As a teenager, I was helping to drive while our family was being transferred and after going over the seven mile bridge we discovered the nine passenger Ford station wagon had a flat tire!!!

Then there is a bridge from Ocean City, Maryland over to Annapolis, Maryland. This one is a doozie and sitting up in a ford truck made it even scarier. The last was the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. I had just bought a GPS unit and didnt realize that when you drive over water, all you see is blue with a little line and your pink car. I was a mess at the end, singing at the top of my lungs. I could go on and on but will finish with the time we tried to do four parks in one day, (which we did) and I agreed to visit Its Tough To Be a Bug. I will never do that attraction again.
Stephanie does not do escalators. We have learned to look for the nearest elevator. She also does not do heights. She needs to sit up front in the vehicle so she does not get car sick. Just let me say that on the same trip to Georgia, we drove from my sisters house to the Marta stop to get to some mall and when we arrived after a harrowing trip, I didnt know she could have looked that green!!! It was not a pretty sight. She hates it when I direct her to my house to drop me off. I have driven those little twisty turny roads for 32 years and dont give them a thought.
So now to continue with our trip to Madeira.
