September 21 Sea Day

Another day at sea and we had a fun filled day ahead of us. We decided to have brunch in Lumiere’s again and I had eggs and bacon.

In Studio Sea there was going to be a cooking demonstration and I was interested in attending it so off we headed. It was titled Art of Entertaining, Appetizer. Chef Michael Pythoud, Executive Chef of Disney’ Hollywood Studio, Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Downtown Disney Food & Beverage. His last name is pronounced P-2. Great personality and stage presence. He made Seared Sesame-Crusted Tuna with Romaine, Napa Cabbage and Pepper Slaw tossed in a Ginger Dressing. We got to have a taste and sample a wine paired with it. Very tasty and I loved the flavors and the wine was excellent.

After that we went to the Wine Tasting in Animator’s Palate. We sampled Muscato, Pino Noir, Chianti, Red Zinfandel, Shiraz, finally Iron Horse Fairy Tale Champagne. We even watched the gentleman as he used a butter knife to take the cork off the champagne bottle. That was cool.

just click on the picture and watch the short video

I think after that we grabbed a slice of pizza. Then I went to the spa.
When we got back from our individual tours yesterday, I received a message from the Spa that I had won a free facial. On the Spa tour we had entered our names for some drawings and when we didn’t win anything, I didn’t think about it anymore. So this call was a surprise. I had indicated that if I had won anything, I would have wanted to try the Slimming Session. It was fun and I lost almost an inch and half around my waist. I would not do it again but it was interesting and I did enjoy the facial.

We made sure to get pictures with the characters before and after dinner. We walked around the ship and then went to the Cove Café to meet the Geezers. It ended up to be an early evening since we would be touring Madeira and wanted to be ready for our tour.

It's a shame the lighting wasn't better at the wine tasting because it was amazing how he took the top off of that bottle. Good stuff, Terry.

Thanks Joanne. I wish there was a way to enhance my video.

Hi Terry and Steffy, I just found your TR and have been reading it while enjoying my cuppa tea. I am reliving the fun we had and taking tips for the next WBTA we are doing next year. We didn't get around to going to the rainforest room this time, and swore we would next time, I hope the lounger hog family aren't there! Also, bazaar, we totally encountered the rude lady at Mickey's mate, numerous times, I'm glad it wasn't just me! :goodvibes
Keep it coming.....

Great TR! I can't wait to hear all about your trip. Too bad that your families didn't want to take a WDW trip with you for your birthday... but turned out to be lucky for you :goodvibes

Loving your work Terry!:goodvibes
Miss seeing you and Steffy and your smiling faces around the ship ....
:sad1:

You look beautiful in your formal pic too, love that oufit!:woohoo:

Funchal, Madeira

We woke up, showered and got dressed. Went up to topsiders to get some breakfast and then went down on the dock to meet everyone for our tour. Noel had organized this tour and we were all very excited. We were in van #4 Tinker Bell. It was a great group of folks.

This is where I need to explain that Stephanie and I each have a few little quirks.

I am terrified of snakes and spiders. Just cannot be around them. On one trip, Stephanie and one of my sisters thought it would be cool if we went into a 4-D show in Stone Mountain, Georgia but didn’t tell me that at the end a snake looks like it is coming out of the screen.:eek: I could not get out of the theater fast enough. When my hubby and I lived in Hawaii, I knew there were a lot of spiders especially Daddy Long Legs and I also knew the Geckos’ took care of them so I just kept my big girl pants on and lived with it for three years before we came back home. I also do not like certain bridges. Really go into panic attacks. My first bridge was a seven mile one traveling down to Key West, Florida. As a teenager, I was helping to drive while our family was being transferred and after going over the seven mile bridge we discovered the nine passenger Ford station wagon had a flat tire!!!:eek: Then there is a bridge from Ocean City, Maryland over to Annapolis, Maryland. This one is a doozie and sitting up in a ford truck made it even scarier. The last was the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. I had just bought a GPS unit and didn’t realize that when you drive over water, all you see is blue with a little line and your pink car. I was a mess at the end, singing at the top of my lungs. I could go on and on but will finish with the time we tried to do four parks in one day, (which we did) and I agreed to visit It’s Tough To Be a Bug. I will never do that attraction again.

Stephanie does not do escalators. We have learned to look for the nearest elevator. She also does not do heights. She needs to sit up front in the vehicle so she does not get car sick. Just let me say that on the same trip to Georgia, we drove from my sister’s house to the Marta stop to get to some mall and when we arrived after a harrowing trip, I didn’t know she could have looked that green!!! It was not a pretty sight. She hates it when I direct her to my house to drop me off. I have driven those little twisty turny roads for 32 years and don’t give them a thought.

So now to continue with our trip to Madeira.

I am sorry it has taken me more than a week to post another day on my trip report. I have been having a real hard time with my Vertigo and have been doing a lot of sleeping. I went back to see an ENT and he has ordered a MRI because I have had bouts of double vision. I hope to get that done this week.

Sorry to hear you are still troubled by this vertigo thing. Hope everything is ok with the scan. Sending :hug:

I hope the scan goes well and also that you get some relief very, very soon.

I hope that the scan goes well and that they get to the bottom of what is going on there.
