The Solution To The Frozen Mess At WDW

I think that fitting Frozen or Star Wars into Future World is really stretching the theme. Particularly Frozen. Just putting them in the Wonders of Life feels like too much of a thrown up solution and I don't think that Disney normally approaches problems in that manner.

It totally could fit in EPCOT - a new Wild Weather Pavilion - totally works with cranking the temp low, having tons of Frozen meet and greets, an all ages sensory playground with falling "snow" and drizzling rain and epic wind and heated areas, a dark indoor thrill ride (could even do the Frozen mountain scene), and an educational area of some type (either 4d movie of wild weather, computer consoles, small show, etc)...fast, easy, fits the theme (since the future is supposed to be more "wild" weather patterns), AND gives Future World something to see!!

I like that idea! :)

Kinda like they tossed Anna and Elsa into an already crowded park on a holiday weekend two weeks before a major ride opening? I would say there was something "thrown up" over that one. They just need a better place to go instead of being tossed from place to place.

Oh this idea seems awesome! I think frozen is here to stay, sure the fad may die down to some extent but I think frozen is here to stay with popularity just maybe not a 6 hour wait after some time/years pass lol.

I kinda like what PP said about Star Wars going to Epcot and frozen going to DHS, it would benefit two parks that really need it with both moves... But I don't see Disney doing this at all.

Either way I would enjoy a frozen ride or designated frozen meet and greet area with the characters

Wanna bet there will be aerial photos of Fantasyland (or at least shots from up in the castle somewhere) of the A/E 7DMT crowds released once 7DMT opens?

Putting A&E in the open pavilion in Future world is a great idea. Frozen is not a fad, it is a Disney franchise gold mine! They can consider a permanent location later, but they need to solve the immediate problem now. MK is not a smart solution. Future world is not exactly futuristic anymore anyways-Nemo, Figment, The Land, Soarin. What is futuristic about any of those things. I say do it. I think DHS is the best permanent location with an attraction and maybe a restaurant. I would love to see Olaf at breakfast!:cheer2:

I don't know.. How does Frozen fit into the Future World theme? It's not science, technology or innovation. It's already in the best spot that it could be in -- Fantasyland. Plus, it will only have massive lines through the summer, maybe into 2015. The excitement about the movie will simmer down as it gets older and the 4 hour lines will go away.

I agree that something needs to be done about that building but I don't think Frozen is a good solution.

Frozen seems to be in for the long haul, until the next "big" Disney movie akin to The Lion King or Frozen in terms of economical gross occurs. If people are going to keep going like a herd of wildebeast at rope drop each day at MK, then someone's gonna get hurt - and you can bet they might just sue for damages. Does Disney not seem to realize that there's going to be an accident one day, with all the craziness that's been going on with Frozen stuff? People telling employers their child has a terminal illness (when they really don't) in order to attempt to ensure Frozen merchandising, these five hour waits, I believe there's a thread about the "hunt" for an Elsa dress...This is insanity, and this is coming from someone who absolutely adores Frozen! Someone's either going to get in trouble or get hurt in all this insanity, and Disney needs to fix it. Even if it means removing Anna and Elsa out of the parks altogether...

But we know they won't do that. And I can't see Frozen at Future World, because they don't fit with the theme at all; it'll make Future World seem even more of a half-slapped-on mess than it currently is! I can only see them redoing the Norway pavilion and keeping Anna and Elsa both in MK and Norway (but then, that would take care of lines, and they probably wanna drag this on forever...), or not doing a darn thing about this. Maybe I'm putting too little stock into all this, I don't know. But it's been six months since Frozen was released in theaters, and around three or four since this madness came to a peak. And I've yet to see any viable solution that has stopped this utter craziness abound! :confused3

As much as I'd like to experience the 7 Dwarves Mine Train -- if it's up and running when we're down there next month -- you won't get me within shouting distance of Fantasyland.
We don't have any little ones and the granddaughter isn't old enough for her first Disney visit. So we'll just ride by on the train.
That kind of crowd, line, wait just isn't for me. Thank goodness I don't have any family members who are dying to meet the new kids on the block.
:crowded:

I don't that I've ever seen more butchering of the concepts of supply and demand than I have with the discussion of Anna & Elsa on these threads.

What about the Millennium Village between Canada and the UK? No, Frozen isn't a real land but they have a large building already in place that could accommodate the crowds.

I had been sitting back in my chair watching the Anna and Elsa angst threads with a certain smugness. My 15-year old high school student hasn't wanted to meet a character in years. Then she found out that Anna and Elsa were doing a meet and greet :faint:.

So I'll be right there in line with all of you ... over Christmas :scared1:.

Once they hire more actresses, I would add them to Akershus, replacing one or two of the current princesses there. That would create an alternative meeting place for A+E and generate revenue for Disney as they would ensure total sellouts for Akershus (it sells well, but there is sometimes availability unlike BoG or CRT). They could even increase the price to increase revenues.

I'm not saying this is great from a guest prospective, but it would make perfect sense for Disney to do.

MK did NOT need more crowds and IMHO this could have been the worst place to put the Frozen princesses -- let's drop a new 3 hour queue for a 1 minute M&G less than 100 yards away from a newer 3 hour queue (Mine Train) for a 2 minute ride. Without FP+ which will be hard gets, that's a lot of waiting for 3 minutes of meaningful activity. Well done next gen of Crowd Control...

I believe the Frozen princesses should have stayed at Epcot but maybe just move the M&G somewhere easier to manage. WoL like the OP said not a bad idea, but a big issue it is used 5 months a year for Festival space. Maybe part of Innoventions, the Odyssey, or World Showplace. Epcot can absorb crowds, has many light days, and MK this is just not so -- for me M&G should have stayed somewhere in Epcot.

DHS could have made sense after SWW is over -- a lot of empty buildings and the lowest attendance of the four parks Stage one near TSMM, the former Sounds Dangerous location could have been themed inside, FP+ added to the doors. Maybe someday when American Idol winds down we could get a Frozen stage show in there, with very low AC :)

Why did they move A&E to the MK, anyway? Like you said, they hardly need more crowds.

I wouldn't put them at Akershus, as much as they seem to be a great fit for the venue. Not enough people can see them there to significantly decrease the demand at MK. If they were going to add them elsewhere (and I doubt they will) they need to be somewhere anyone in the park could meet them.

FP+ was nice, but only serves a limited number. The same would be true of adding them to Akershus.

For the ability to use FP and have more than one pair running at a time.

Frozen is going to be bigger than The Little Mermaid for Disney. Possibly bigger than any movie they've made the past 30 years. You can count on future Frozen themed areas, rides and merchandise. The key is for Disney to get going on it now. Not five or ten years from now.
I think anywhere they put them will be a huge hit, even Future World.

But if they put them in Akerhaus they would increase revenue. I would gladly pay for the privilege not to deal with the mess! They could keep them at MK and maybe even temporarily have them in DHS. The current mess is dangerous and really unacceptable!

Pretty sure Akershus character meals already sell out seatings. Adding or changing out Princesses isn't going to bring them any more revenue, because there are only X number of tables in the place and they are already full.

The only way to "increase revenue" for sold out character meal venues is to 1) raise per person prices or 2) add more space to the restaurant so you can seat more groups simultaneously.

#2 is very difficult to do because if the place gets too big, characters cannot visit each table in the restaurant in a timely manner, and people won't leave until they see each character, because they feel they paid for that access (not just the food). And it isn't as if you can have multiple copies of the same characters working the dining room together.

Most likely what they're trying to do with the additional cast members is extend the meet and greets to park close - simply adding another two pair of actors would allow them to run two A&E rooms from 5pm (current end) til 9pm or later (park close). That's a lot more guests per day that can go through the line.

Does Akerhaus sell out? All three meals? It seemed pretty easy to get past 180 days out? This would up the popularity to BOG levels... They could possibly raise prices...

I always wondered about the popularity of Akershus. I never heard a whole lot of people talking about it until A&E were in front of it.

Has anyone here ate there before? Is the breakfast good?
