Trip:: 7 nights at Beach Club for our third family trip to WDW-first trip for Christmas activities. November 29-December 6
Today was departure day.
There were mixed feelings about this. We had a great, great time and its always sad to leave Disney!! However, we had been at Disney a full week and we knew Christmas was around the corner when we returned home. So, departure wasnt as sorrowful as it has been in the past. We finished packing and called Bell Services. They were very speedy and we took off for Epcot. We headed to Mission Space and the girls got in line. Russ and I got FPs for TT for all of us.
While the girls rode MS, we tried to check in and get our seat assignments for our flight via the internet. (Our flight was through AirTran and you cant do this until 24 hours prior.) A CM had suggested one of the phones where you could get on the internet and it really wasnt all that expensive, so we tried it. Unfortunately, the computer/phone we found had the mouse broken on it and although the touch screen worked, we could get where we needed to be on the computer.
We finally disconnected and were frustrated to not be able to accomplish that. We felt we needed to do that since the weather appeared to be questionable in our home area. We decided we would try our luck elsewhere.
We headed to Mousegears for some last minute souvenirs.
The girls joined us and wanted to go to Innoventions. We were disappointed that IBM took out their booth where you could get a free picture. However, the girls enjoyed Mickey Tag and some computer games. Emily made paper. Russ and Jana did some game where you get a preview of a robber and then you have to try to recreate it from memory and they were proud to say they did very well!
We headed to TT for our FP. It was not fast this time! We waited and waited and even debated getting out of line, but we thought it would be fun to do it as a family since we had opted for singles lines the other day. We finally got in our car, and made it as far as the cold chamber and the car stopped.
We sat there and sat there. Finally two CMs came and removed us from the car and had us walk through the course and down the back stairs. (It was quite exciting!). We went past the VIP lounge and through the exit to load right on a car. We were hoping all would be OK this time, but it didnt look likely when we went through the curves of the braking section at about 3 m.p.h. and the brakes were really jerky. This time, we abruptly stopped just past the hot chamber and before we got to the cold chamber. We sat there and sat there. Argh! I felt sorry for the man riding in our car. We dont think he spoke English and he was with us 5 through this whole ordeal. Holly took pictures of all of us as we waited and said she felt bad because she didnt take his picture!.
We were a little nervous about the fast stretch outside and wondered what would happen if it stopped out there! But, we finally finished with no major problems. That sure took a lot of time out of our touring, though!
All week, we had been going past the Fish & Chips place in United Kingdom and we decided that would be lunch. Russ went to the locker for our pop and Holly and I stood in line. This was a delicious lunch and we all enjoyed this meal. YUM!!
We headed around the World Showcase. Emily was enthralled with some puppets we saw in Mexico which soon became her budget-busting souvenir. We tried the sweet pretzel in Norway from the Kringle Bakerie og Kafe and it was delicious. Jana decided on a tiger at the Trading Outpost to finish her souvenir money and Emily and Jana added some to their masks. Jana saw Winnie the Pooh and Eeyore and also Kenai from Brother Bear. Russ and I found another computer/telephone and we attempted once again to check in for our flight. This time, the phone wouldnt accept our credit card and we were getting annoyed so we gave up!
It was time to head back to BC and it was nice to walk back and not rely on bus transportation.
We found a very nice computer/telephone in the lobby(why didnt we think of that before!?) and we got checked in for our flights and chose our seats. We couldnt get 5 together in a row across from each other except at the very back of the plane, so we opted to split our family 3 and 2 in rows right behind each other. We got our luggage from Bell Services and FL Tours was right on time. We said Good-by to Disney for now!
We watched more of Finding Nemo and our driver told us of the interesting weather developments of the day. Flights were being cancelled to the east coast, people were extending their stay, and others arriving early to avoid the developing weather. We had not seen the weather all day so we were anxious to check at the airport.
We did curbside check-in which is so convenient. They printed our boarding passes with no problem and we headed inside. Luckily, our flight was on time and we grabbed some pizza for a quick dinner. There were others who were not as fortunate as we saw other flights that were cancelled or delayed.
The flight went fine and we all rested. We were all tired!
We dont waste time in Disney and make the most of our days. We did relax and rest more this trip than ever before, but we were feeling the effects of walking, touring, swimming, riding, etc. etc.! We got off the plane, gathered our luggage, and headed outside to catch our ride to off-site parking. BRRRRRit is freezing in Ohio!!! Luckily there was little snow on the ground but it was cold, cold!! Finally, our ride came and we loaded up and headed home. We arrived home about midnight in time to unload what was necessary and fall into bed with sweet memories of Disney in our dreams.
