DH and I had been sleeping on twin beds. When we moved to Florida, we bought a Sleep Number. I really like it -- we can each select our own firmness and I can raise his side (there's a "partner snore" setting) when he snores.

Used to buy extra firm traditional. Current mattress, Sleep Train talked us into moving to just a firm. Don't remember exactly how old it is, clearly at least 11 years old since that is when Sleep Train became Mattress Firm and so far so good. But our last mattress was a victim of our children liking to use it as a trampoline. I know my mom got 50 years out her Beautyrest. Sadly she only got about two months use out of the new one before literally overnight being able to live on her own, to having to move into a care home.

We are both side sleepers, and we've had ours for a few years now w/ no issues. Go prepared...they aren't cheap, ours cost more than my first new car:scared: BUT it's been worth it.
My son and daughter in law bought one. I guess they had a lot of issues with the air bladders (apparently they are just a fancy air mattress inside) leaking. They did get prompt warranty replacements for the air bladders, but they don't come out, they just ship you a new air bladder with instructions on how to install it. They gave up and bought a traditional mattress. Took them months to sell the Sleep Number, but at least the warranty is transferable. But ALL mattresses are hard to sell used. Kind of a gray area as many believe selling a used mattress is illegal.

I have no idea about the firmness rating. But it is not super soft, and doesn’t have a plush type top. I think overall I have a high tolerance for mattress differences though. Aside from a sleeper sofa with a dreaded metal bar felt through a thin mattress, I don’t recall ever thinking the mattress I was on wasn’t ok for me.

But ALL mattresses are hard to sell used
As they should be...ugh, yeah no, I'm not buying a used mattress 🤨 (and yes, I see the point about anytime I go to a hotel I'm technically sleeping on a used mattress - that's not what I mean)

This is the 5th Sleep Number mattress in our family, none of us have had any issues. But I suppose, like any other brand/product there are those who have issues & those who do not.

They honored the warranty no questions asked, so they stand behind their product.
But yes, it is frustrating trying to find a home for even a lightly used mattress. I got $200 for my mom's mattress that cost $2,000 and had been slept on for just six weeks. And we took a mattress to the dump that had about that many "sleeps"on it. Such a waste.
