The Sims 2....Share your screens and stories here!

I love the new turn on's/off's, too!

Does anyone know what all you can find by digging for treasure/looking for shells/searching the captain's quarters/etc? I think I've found most of the stuff, but I'm not sure.

Also- does the Asian vacation place have a dance? I've learned to hula at the tropical one, and the stomp dance (I think?) in the mountains, but I never saw a dance for the third! And can you learn a skill in the mountains(like Teleporting in the Asian one, fire dance in the tropical)?

I'm not sure yet how much replay value this pack has- once I've really explored all of the vacation destinations, I'm not sure I'll be spending much time there. But so far, it's fun!

The Far East dance is Tai Chi.

I don't know about a Mountain skill. There's the massage. Maybe being able to befriend and bring home Bigfoot takes place of a skill.

I play Sims 2 everyday! I love it! I haven't bought any of the expansion packs though. Maybe I'll buy one of them soon. Which one is at the top of your list?

That's a tough call. It depends on what you like about the game.

University added a new life stage, 4 new careers, the cowplant, resurrection phone, zombies and the plastic surgery machine....among many other things. I liked that you could send a teen to college as soon as they turned into a teen. Then there are greek houses, cheerleaders and secret societies.

Nightlife added cars, but now you can get them through the two Ford downloads at thesims2.com. The Downtown area is neat with all the different lots, turn ons and turn offs, dating, group outings and the gypsy matchmaker. Then there are the Divas and vampires andespecially downtownies, who are higher skilled and richer than townies and bring goodies when they join a household. Then there's Mrs. Crumplebottom.....:scared1:

Open For Business was great in that, sims could own and operate community lots. It can be a lot of work but it's a whole new way to play. Sims can earn business skills and also craft skills like toy-making, cosmetology, flower-arranging and robotics. Sims can build their own Servos, which are really neat. I love how Servos can become vampires with their little fangs.

Pets is my least favorite. I don't own any in real life, so having the ability to recreate them for my sims was fun to try but that's all there was to this pack. Pets can have careers though, which helps with family finances. Having werewolves was meh.

I LOVE Seasons. It permeates all aspects of the game. Weather and seasons are great for holidays and it keeps daily sim from getting too predictable. It also came with a new base neighborhood, which highlighted the addition of gardening. Plantsims are interesting and great if you have to garden. Fishing was also added and when sims cooked the fish and items from their garden, their food would sparkle and would let them go longer between meals. I liked opening home businesses selling all the fish my sims would catch. Having six new careers and some handy career rewards also improved gameplay for me. Each season had benefits, too. In Spring, romantic relationships built faster. In summer, friendships grew stronger faster. In winter, family relationships got boosts. My favorite is Fall because sims build skills faster and that includes pets learning commands and behaviors.

Bon Voyage has been great but don't get it yet. They need to patch some bugs first.

The Stuff Packs are just objects, clothes and hairstyles, so if a theme appeals to you, go for it. I loved Glamour Life Stuff and H&M Fashion stuff. Family Fun stuff was OK. I may pick up Celebrations at some point. I'm thinking about the upcoming Teen Style Stuff.

No matter which pack you pick, if any, make sure your PC can run it. System requirements have been evolving these past 3 years. If you wait a little while longer, you could buy all the franchise packs together like you can do now with the original Sims game.

Hmm, I know for me, I really enjoy Pets and Seasons. I really like them all but for different reasons! I can't really say I love one more than I love another! I love Nightlife for the dating options. That really helps when you want to try to find someone compatable for your sim! And then I love OFB because I've always wanted to own a Pet store, so I live vicariously through my Sim that way! :rolleyes1

Seasons is definitely my favorite, it adds so much to the game. :goodvibes

Hey, guys, there's apparently a really bad issue with Bon Voyage that can ruin your game.

Apparently we're supposed to download this or something to fix it :confused3

It seems odd, but the people on the official Sims 2 site says it's safe so I downloaded it :confused3

I got it last week and the spawning stopped. Now I wish a patch would come out to stop the crashing.

Here are some Bon Voyage screens.

First up....Hammock woohoo. Try For baby wasn't an option.....

The witch doctor isn't very handy. He got electrocuted twice before Nick could repair everything.

As soon as the Dinero family got home, they left for Takemizu. Because of crashing, I lost some great screens. Here's one of them at the secret Pagoda lot listening to the dragon legend. Jessica learned teleporting. I'm trying to find another ninja to teach Nick.

Just thought I'd share- I just read on the Sims site that the patch for Bon Voyage to keep it from crashing should come out today. Thank goodness- my game just started crashing! Evil tour guides!

I got the patch, but I uninstalled BV two weeks ago. I uninstalled everything actually and reinstalled all but Uni and BV. The patch that came out is a quick fix. I'm hoping another will come soon.

Right now, the uproar is over SecuROM and how it is disabling simmers' PCs. I'm wary to reinstall BV because of that, but apparently SecuROM is also in H&M and will be in the Teen Style Stuff next month. I don't know what to do. It's been a kill-joy though, since I am shying away from the game now.

Please let me know if the patch helps with the crashing.

Hi fellow DIS Simmers!

I have a Sims 2 update from my previous posts. It turned out that my PC, despite the upgrades I had made recently, just wasn't up to snuff for Bon Voyage. To top that off, it was sputtering and crashing with other applications, too. Overheating.

Chris ordered me a new, custom-built PC in December and I've had no problem with anything.....except Vista. It's not as friendly to my accessibility needs as XP was, but oh well.

Having suffered no catastrophic data loss from my old PC, everything runs well. The first BV patch had no discernible benefit for me. I downloaded the second one, but it wouldn't install because it detected more recent expansion packs on my PC. HUH?????? I suppose it was referring to Teen Style STUFF Pack, which I do have. I decided to leave it alone and wait to install Free Time when I manage to get it into my hot little hands. Hopefully the second BV patch elements will be included. I'd really like to be able to delete certain custom content in Create-a-sim again.

Others across the globe have gotten it already and have posted various reports and screen shots. I'll probably swing by EB Games to get my copy sometime tomorrow.

Someone has posted a movie of the Genie on Youtube.

For my own preparations, I have played a few families to good points for them to embark on hobbies. Lots of the children and teens have their skills built way up and adults have good career standings and social status.

Did you pre-order? From where?
Do you have it already?
Have you done anything special to get ready?
What are you looking forward to most?
Are you psyched about the secondary aspiration? The aging of friends? improved aspiration benefits?

I wondered if this thread would get "resurected" because of "Free Time" coming out next week!* :thumbsup2** I see it will be available at Target on the 28th, so I will drive my little self right up there in the afternoon (I learned not to get there in the morning when they're supposed to go on sale that day, as their UPS shipment doesn't come until after lunch!) and get it.* Can't wait to give me SIMS more stuff to occupy their time!!* :)I hope the patch you guys are talking about will be included in the installation.* I have trouble with my game crashing all the time.* It just "freezes up" then I get a blue screen with a bunch of letters and numbers and stuff like "stuck in an infinite loop."* I have to shut the computer down, restart, and then restart the game.* It's extremely annoying.* I've learned to "save the game" often, so I don't lose so much every time it crashes.* :(

It kind of makes me mad that I've spent all this $$ on SIMS 2, Open For Business, Pets, Bon Voyage, etc. etc. and it crashes all the time.*

Glad to hear the new computer is working out well. Mine works great but I always turn off all background tasks before I play for extra insurance.

I'm looking forward to Free Time. I pre-ordered it from EA Link. I will not be able to download it until wednesday.
I have prepared some of my families; making sure their skills are up and also raising the frienship scores of my sim children and their friends. I also built some small business lots for my sims to turn some of their hobbies into cash.:rotfl:

I'm looking forward to the aging of friends, I think that will be a cool feature. Oh, and the secondary aspiration will be awesome.

This afternoon, I will spend some time cleaning out my downloads folder, getting rid of unused CC and making sure all of my hacks are in a subfolder so it can easly be removed when installing.

I also plan to pop into gamestop and pick up the game guide.:goodvibes

Chatty, do you have a Nvidia graphics cards? Your freezing and blue screen sounds like issue many are having with some of the Nividia graphics cards?

Oh yeah...gotta back up everything.

I'm liking the idea of Kitchen and Bath Stuff, too. I wonder if it will be the last Stuff Pack. I think Free Time will probably be the last expansion pack, but EA is being taciturn about that. Do they have one last expansion pack in mind or do they not want to feel pressured to announce the Sims 3 so soon?

Those who have Free Time have said that The Sims 3 looks awesome in-game. Someone named Humble shows up at a sim's house and leaves a present. The Sims 3 is in it or in a computer in the box.

I'm so glad this thread got bumped up.

Historically I've bought my game from Best Buy the day of the release, but alot of times they haven't had it ready to go the release date, so I've had to wait until the following day to get it. :confused3

I'm just ready to play! I've gotten hooked on World of Warcraft but it will be good to get back to my Sims too!

I'm so glad this thread got bumped up.

This is the thread that just won't flush! *queue the toilet clog noise and music from the sims*

:lmao:

I've never played Warcraft. I did read recently about a divorce over Warcraft. I wonder if there have been divorces over the Sims. EA Just put out a call for Simmers whose lives have been changed by the Sims. People who designed a house in game and then built and furnished one just like it in real life, etc. There are some neat furniture items in the game....like that single bed with the curvy canopy.

LOL well I don't think that will happen to us since we both are addicted to both the Sims and Warcraft! But I can see it happening though as both games are highly addicting!

I would love to design a house on my Sims game and then build it in real life! That would be neat!

Well if Free Time is the last expansion pack, then this thread may be replaced by a Sims 3 thread. I can't wait to see what they've done with it.

I wonder when we'll start hearing about it?
