I wonder when we'll start hearing about it?

It's been officially referred to but not announced.

They did announce the Sims 2 before they released the final Sims 1 expansion pack. They even included a promo disc with Makin' Magic. So I'm not sure what their game plan is.

Back then, it was Maxis running the show and now they're just a nominal front for EA.

Chatty, do you have a Nvidia graphics cards? Your freezing and blue screen sounds like issue many are having with some of the Nividia graphics cards?

Yes, my graphics card is Nvidia. I bought my laptop at Best Buy and actually took it back about 6-months later, because when I bought it I told the clerk helping me that I mainly wanted it for playing SIMS and I got really fed up with the "crashing". I wanted them to "fix it" as I am really, really computer illiterate so had no idea what to do. He said he could fix it but it would cost $$$ and I'd be without my laptop for several days, so he told me how to do it on my own. I tried. Didn't work. Had my DS (he knows a lot about computers) download the newest Nvidia upgrade but that didn't help either.

Sometimes I can play an hour or two without it crashing, sometimes 15 minutes.

Oh I'm glad this thread got bummed up. For some reason, I thought it wasn't going to be released until March. I pre-ordered the download from the online store, which will be available after midnight CST on Wednesday, so I'll set the download before I go to bed
I don't know much about this expansion, so it looks like I have some research to do today!

You're talking about Free Time? It's released this week. Kitchen and Bath Stuff comes out in April. Sims 3? Who knows?

Do you have it already?
Have you done anything special to get ready?
What are you looking forward to most?
Are you psyched about the secondary aspiration? The aging of friends? improved aspiration benefits?

I didn't pre-order Free Time. I'm waiting to buy it until after the patch comes out since there always seems to be glitches when it first comes out. I'd like to wait until they create a patch for those. It usually takes a month after the release for a new one to come out.

I'm looking forward to everything about it. I am hoping there are new ways to gain knowledge, but having more activities in general should be fun. It should make it more personalized so certain personalities will have more ways to gain skills.

I also just wanted to mention that there is talk that there will be one more expansion pack for Sims 2 which would probably be released in September. The talk on Sims 3 is that it could be released as early as November 2009... time will tell.

I think I'll be getting it this week. It will need a patch, as they always do, but there's no telling how long it will take to come out.

I really wish they would end the speculation about an 8th pack. The fights on the Sims 2 BBS get out of hand sometimes with people swearing up and down that they're right.

LOL Yeah, it can get crazy on the BBS. I guess we'll see. If there is one, there might be an insert in Free Time. If there isn't an insert, then I would guess that would be all for Sims 2.

I'm like you....still waiting. DH was supposed to pick up a copy on the way home yesterday, but he forgot. So I'll have it tonight. I guess I had better back up my files now.

It has been interesting reading all the Sims 2 BBS threads about issues. Hopefully, it will help me avoid problems.

I am really interested in the new cheat that will allow us to edit the terrain in the neighborhood. The only drawback I've seen on that is that you can't 'undo'.

I got my copy yesterday, played some last evening before "American Idol" and "Survivor" came on. And I've been playing all day today. I don't want to quit to go to work at 4:00!

My SIM is pursuing her interest in cuisine and nature, and she's been watching movies too. It's fun seeing what new things they can do, after they learn more about their hobbies.

I wish I could share my screen shots, but I have no idea how to do that.

It's a little complicated but..

While you're playing hit "C" and it will take a screen shot. Those pictures are then stored in your Neighborhoods folder, under storytelling. You can then move them from there to anywhere on your computer, or you can upload them to photobucket or another photo sharing site.

I'm excited to get FT. It looks really awesome from what I can tell. I love that your toddlers now have an activity table to color and draw. No more just leaving them to play with the blocks, zxylaphone, or pink bunny! I also like that you now have lifelong friends and you can have BFF's.

Just wanted to bump up and see who is looking forward to the Apartment Life EP?

I am. I've already built a trailer park and a luxury ocean view building for my sims. I will just have to change out the doors and rezone it to Apartments.

I'm excited for it. I will probably wait to get it though. I usually wait until the patch comes out to fix the bugs. It will be a lot easier to manage relationships in an apartment building.

I also heard it's going to include some new interactions. For example, toddlers will be able to hug eachother..too cute!

I'm looking forward to this pack. I've done trailer lots before. There is some great custom content out there to do it, too. I even found a great black velvet Elvis painting and Confederate emblem bedspread..... It will be great to see their take on it.

I would also like to try making a retirement home for seniors.

Adults will be able to swing kids around, too. There's new cuddling for couples in bed and couples can now cuddle while stargazing and watching clouds. All the new greetings sound fun.....polite kisses, high fives, firm handshakes, etc. And it will be neat to see what 'Kiss/suck face' is all about.

I didn't pre-order either, but I anticipate getting it this week.

Nope, nowhere near each other. I have one of those camera mods so you can see the whole neighborhood. I put the trailer park up in the hills. LOL

I'm going to have to hunt down that "Velvet Elvis".
