Our family consists of DH Keith (45), myself Mary (43), DD Courtney (17), DS Alex (14), and two furry dog friends Jackie and Ruby. We left Buffalo, NY at 7:00am on Saturday 8/2. We drove to Emporia, VA where we spent the night at a Jellystone campground. We had an easy pull-through site. Sadly it was raining so we didn't get to sit outside and enjoy the evening. The next morning, we left around 8:00am and drove to St. Augustine, FL where we stayed at Anastasia State Park. It was an absolutely beautiful park. I would highly recommend it! Today, we didn't have to check out until 1:00pm, so we went into St. Augustine to check out the town. Very cute and we hope to go back one day. We stopped in at A1A Brewery for an ice cold beverage
The kids didn't mind since it was air conditioned and they got a drink too.
We arrived at the Fort at 4:00pm today. I was way more excited than the kids were! They even called me a kid, which I'm ok with! It was not raining when we arrived, so we were able to set up without getting wet. Unfortunately by the time we were set up, it started to pour! We waited a bit for it to clear up, but it really didn't look like that was happening anytime soon, so we just headed out. We wanted to get the internet stuff and refillable mugs. They only had two colors at the Settlement area, so we knew we would have to go to the Meadow area. Since we were at Trails End and we were planning on the Giddy Up and Go chicken dinner, we ordered that and went back to the camper to eat. Still raining. After dinner, which was delicious, we headed to the Meadow area. We were able to purchase four different color mugs. No confusing any mugs now! I was thrilled to learn that purchasing the refillable mugs counted as a purchase of $40 or more so I was able to purchase the black backpack for $19.95. That was an item I had already planned on for myself.
Picked up the internet kit (all eight pieces) and headed back to camp. The dogs were stressed because of the thunder, but the air conditioning and tv noise helped a bit.
Off to bed now and to MK in the morning!
