Bay Lake Tower - Preferred Room vs Standard

Hey All - Just curious to see if anyone has some thoughts on a preferred room vs standard at Bay Lake Tower? We are going with some "first timers" and was wondering if the upgrade is worth it? Thanks!
We own at BLT and like preferred. Sometimes you get lucky and have a room at the end of the building towards Space Mountain. It's technically preferred (old Lake view) but you get some of the theme park view. Theme Park view is generally best at night, but that typically works out if you're at the parks during the day.

Other than that, preferred typically is lake view.

Some picks below of our preferred view in the north tower. We lucked out being at the end having both the lake and theme park views.

We lucked out one time when we were moved from another resort due to maintenance issues. I believe the room # was 7812. It was a one bedroom with both MK and lake views. This was in 2015. We had an awesome fireworks view. For some reason (camera-related?) we didn’t get a “panoramic” view, but we had a good view of the lake off to the right.

Beautiful 😍

Has not been mentioned; the only thing wrong with the "Standard" view rooms is there are not a whole lot of them and they are hard to get. They are a great value for the points though. We have stayed in a standard view room once, in 2020 when the parks had just re-opened. We had a room that faced the park but on the 1'st floor. I don't even think they were doing fireworks then so NBD. We liked it - you could walk out from the "balcony" onto the walkway and get to the pool going around the building. Never had to wait for an elevator either.

Our view from our standard/resort view villa. This was facing MK/parking lot.
No,we could not see anything. But to be honest we were not planning on sitting on the balcony anyway to watch fireworks or view the lake. We ended up watching the fireworks on the bridge to the contemporary. For the points savings it was fine, and if you luck out and get a slightly higher floor, it’s not far off from a theme park view.
