Our family consists of DH Keith (45), myself Mary (43), DD Courtney (17), DS Alex (14), and two furry dog friends Jackie and Ruby. We left Buffalo, NY at 7:00am on Saturday 8/2. We drove to Emporia, VA where we spent the night at a Jellystone campground. We had an easy pull-through site. Sadly it was raining so we didn't get to sit outside and enjoy the evening. The next morning, we left around 8:00am and drove to St. Augustine, FL where we stayed at Anastasia State Park. It was an absolutely beautiful park. I would highly recommend it! Today, we didn't have to check out until 1:00pm, so we went into St. Augustine to check out the town. Very cute and we hope to go back one day. We stopped in at A1A Brewery for an ice cold beverage :) The kids didn't mind since it was air conditioned and they got a drink too.

We arrived at the Fort at 4:00pm today. I was way more excited than the kids were! They even called me a kid, which I'm ok with! It was not raining when we arrived, so we were able to set up without getting wet. Unfortunately by the time we were set up, it started to pour! We waited a bit for it to clear up, but it really didn't look like that was happening anytime soon, so we just headed out. We wanted to get the internet stuff and refillable mugs. They only had two colors at the Settlement area, so we knew we would have to go to the Meadow area. Since we were at Trails End and we were planning on the Giddy Up and Go chicken dinner, we ordered that and went back to the camper to eat. Still raining. After dinner, which was delicious, we headed to the Meadow area. We were able to purchase four different color mugs. No confusing any mugs now! I was thrilled to learn that purchasing the refillable mugs counted as a purchase of $40 or more so I was able to purchase the black backpack for $19.95. That was an item I had already planned on for myself. :) Picked up the internet kit (all eight pieces) and headed back to camp. The dogs were stressed because of the thunder, but the air conditioning and tv noise helped a bit.

Off to bed now and to MK in the morning!

Good to hear on your safe travels. Sounds like you are settling in nicely. Keep us up to date when you can.

What site you end up with?

We are in site 302 on the preferred pet loop. Got up early this morning and made it to MK just after park opening. We had FP+ for Thunder Mountain, Space Mountain, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. Also rode Splash Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean, Small World, and did the Tiki Room and Monsters Laugh Floor. I was so excited because DH was "that guy" so that made it even better! As for the Mine Train, it was awesome, but way too short. I cannot imagine waiting in a two hour stand-by line for such a short ride. Hoped to walk into BOG for lunch, but it was at capacity. We peaked into Gaston's, but no one was interested in the pork flank. So we ate at Pinocchio's. The flat bread pizzas were delicious! Love how they reserve seating for people with trays of food. This is so nice! They even helped us find an empty table. Maybe they do this everywhere? I don't know, but we've never had that experience before. We headed back to camp around 3:30 for a break. On the way out, DD and I decided to stop and see Tinkerbell since the line was 25 minutes. DH and DS headed back to FW to check on the dogs. So glad we stayed to see Tinkerbell because the wait and our visit took less than ten minutes! Woo hoo! I love Tinkerbell! I have her all over my office at school and I have a tattoo of her. Anyway, back to camp and time to cook dinner.

Wow, glad you made it marybrat. :dance3:

The GAG at TE is a winner, isn't it? (remember you can buy the side dishes like fries, mash, mac/cheese, cornbread separately if you grill some meat at your site and don't want to cook the rest :rolleyes1 )

Man it seems like ERR'ybody just showed up all of a sudden at the Fort.

I remember the GAG from our last trip and it was as good as I remember. Thanks, I didn't realize we could buy just the sides! Might do that when we grill chicken one night. Thanks!

Trying to estimate fuel cost as we have never hauled our 30 ft TT - we have a f150 5 litre and are planning a trip to the Fort :yay:

Hi Marcy,

I used regular old mapquest to estimate my fuel costs from Mississippi and pretty darn close. You will need a good idea of what mpg your vehicle gets on the highway pulling the TT however for this to work. It was within $50 of my actual use.

I average about 12 mpg with my f250 pulling a fully loaded 32 footer.

Hauling a 30ft TT with a Sierra. DH estimates gS will be approx $1100 round trip. I have no idea myself though! LOL

Tuesday after dinner at camp, we headed back to MK with plans to see Wishes and the Light Parade. We hit Haunted Mansion, Buzz Lightyear, PhilharMagic, and then decided we wanted ice cream and to head back "home." Of course, I had to have the kitchen sink sundae, so the kids and I shared that. Waited maybe 10 minutes for the ferry as Wishes let out, quick easy trip back to camp. Bed time. Heading to town in the morning for a few things and because we are expecting my brother Patrick to arrive by ME in the morning. Then we will be off to Epcot.

I have seen pictures of the "kitchen sink". It looks like it could feed an entire family.

I assume you're are trying to estimate what you're mpg will be?

I have always towed with F250/350/450 diesels. They tend to get a bit better fuel economy. They certainly can tow more weight easily.

When I had a TT (33ft, 7000 lbs), I generally got about 11 mpg. That was towing at about 75 mph or so. Dropping to 70 or below will increase that by at least 1 mpg.

We briefly had a F250 with the 5.0 gas motor for the race team. It pulled a 28 ft single car hauler that was about 8,000 loaded. It got about 9 mpg. If it was windy, 7-8.

Not sure if either of these are good estimates for your F150.

I've found the 2 biggest factors on mpg are your speed and the wind.

Where can I find the info on the items available if you spend a certain amount. I would like to see the backpack.

Started the day with a trip to Total Wines for some beer. Hung around camp, ate lunch and headed to Epcot. Had FP+ for Test Track, Mission Space, and Spaceship Earth. Stopped at Imagination and are at the Electric Umbrella. Then the kids went to Hollywood Studios while the adults went to the World Showcase. I didn't drink much, but DH and DB drank in every country. Not good. DD bought a Frozen Magic Band which she was thrilled about. Kids came back to see Illuminations. Guys still had drinks to finish so we sat and did a bit of people watching. Back to camp before 11:00pm.

Here is the backpack on the back of my chair

at Epcot we were offered a watch or pins for our purchase of 39.95 or more.:confused3

They have all different option depending on where you are. At the campground, it was a backpack or towel depending on how much you spent. In MK, I saw a watch as a chice.
