The Running Thread - 2016

I love it! All of my finish line photos look like that. I have a few standard "poses" that I do when passing a photographer. This is one of them. Another is the 2-handed wave that you see in my photo above. I also do a cheesy face with 2 thumbs up. I have no idea why I do these things. I almost do them without thinking. I suppose it is better than disgusting, sweaty, and in pain, which I often am. I just turn it on when I pass a camera! lol

I occasionally buy race pictures; especially for Disney events.

Since everyone else is posting their favorites, here is mine.

Taken at about mile 17 of the 2015 Rocket City Marathon. I like it since it looks like I didn't see the photographer.

I changed it to an attachment and it seems OK now. I could have sworn I did exactly what I've done every other time.

I wasn't sure who they were at the castle, so wasn't a big ham, but I made up for it! Luckily I didn't smack anyone in the face around me.

Good luck! Luckily the heat wave breaks before then! I heard the course is great - nice and flat (not like the Nike SF hills!) with great support!

QOTD: Lets discuss "official race photos". Do you buy them or plan to at any point? Do you look at them to check on your running form? If so, did you see something in them to where you got a video taken on you running to see your form in more detail to try to change it up any? Or do you just look at them and wonder why in the heck am I making such a strange face? Any other type of info you try to gather from them?

I usually don't buy them. Now that runDisney is using photopass though I will be getting those as we buy photopass for our trips anyway. I bought 3 pics from marathon photo for my very first half (Nike SF) and I bought all my pics from the Inaugural Star Wars Light Side RC because for the first time ever I had a few good pics! I do notice my form when I look at them for sure. My first few races I had a wicked heel strike which I've since improved but I always check it out when looking at pics.

Per Websters, a ham is: a bad actor who performs in an exaggerated way, someone who enjoys performing and who tends to behave in an exaggerated or playful way when people are watching

It's weird because I'm usually super shy and introverted, but for some reason I do that during races. I guess because I feel so ridiculous anyways!

Now, the younger kids have a completely different meaning for h.a.m. and I always have to look it up because I always forget.

@roxymama doesn't lie! Your pictures are amazing! You could be one of those people in the runDisney ads with Tinkerbell chasing you or whatever!

I never really think about how the color of my outfit will look during my race pictures, I wear a lot of black and navy and dark purple with the occasion sparkly skirt thrown in...but now I'm thinking about what I will look like for my next rundisney race up against actual scenery that's not just "road." Looking at @Ariel484 's vivid blue and orange against the castle makes me want to wear something really vivid like that.

I liked most of my rock n roll race pictures but was sad that the ice creams on my skirt didn't show up better.

I'm now looking through all my pics and it seems the ratio of "Smiling with Beer" pics far outweigh actual saved race pics. I should make a post-race beer collage for my hubby and I for xmas this year. No one tell him...I think I'm actually going to do this.

ATTQOTD: I have never bought them. I always look and I always think the photographer got me at the worst possible moment, lol!

I just got back from our family vacation in WDW. I was gone 10 days and I missed like 20 pages! I will try and read it all tonight and get all caught up!

@roxymama, @ZellyB, and @keahgirl8 - thank you guys so much! Trust me, I don't look like that at any of my other races. There's something truly magical about racing at DL or WDW. Plus, those photopass photographers used a lot of pixie dust!

I love all the other photos! Everyone looks so awesome!
