The Running Thread - 2016

QOTD: When you go on vacation (That is not based on a running event) do you bring your running gear with you? Do you actually make it out for a run?

Yep. I'm in Philadelphia for a work conference now and the first thing I did after checking into the hotel was head out for a run. I usually try to find a race to do when I'm on vacation just to do a race in a different city.

Not sure what part of Philly you are in but if you are near the Franklin Institute and the "Rocky Steps", there is a neat park behind the museum by the river and boathouses. I'm sure that the area has a name but I've only been there once and the name escapes me. Nice place for a run.

We will be in Philly in about 10 days to do a 15k.

ATTQOTD: I do take running clothes with me on vacation and work trips. Sometimes I make it out, sometimes I don't.

Philly was one of my favorites to run while on a trip. The museum and the boathouses and path along the Schuylkill river, across the Ben Franklin Bridge, and around Independence hall.

QOTD: With the new forum runDisney, and if we had a choice (which I hope we do?.?.?), would you like to see this thread brought over to it or stay here? Why or why not?

ATTQOTD: I would like it to make the move because most of the running folks would be able to participate in this thread as well as their upcoming Disney running event all in one place.

I have asked Webmaster Jackie about this and she said that the WISH forum moderators who are also the moderators of the new RunDisney forum should be moving at least the individual weekend threads. This thread wasn't specifically mentioned but if it's not I will ask if it can be.

As with most everyone else, the primary threads I view are the weekend specific ones and this thread, so I'd like to see this one moved to the new runDisney forum.

ATTQOTD: I'd definitely like it to go over with the RD events. I'm guessing almost all of us have done or are planning to do one of the RD events and this thread is very complimentary to those events...or something like that.

ATTQOTD: It doesn't really matter to me, but I guess wherever it will see the most traffic. :) I have the thread on my watch list and I primarily visit the watch list when I visit the forums, so it makes no difference to me where it actually lives.

The more I think about the question the answer becomes different which each thought. On the one hand it would be nice but realistically almost every thread in the RunDisney/Event/Competition section is about the various Disney races. I have started one in here about the Cocoa Beach Half Marathon, There have been a couple about the big 3, Boston, NY, Chicago. A couple about clothing/costumes and so on. Beyond that all RunDisney related.

Would it be easier to just label this section as the all inclusive "RunDisney Section"? This would save time and expense of doing a lot of moving. Also when a non Disney event pops up over in the new section it would have to be moved out of there to here.

My final thought would be to leave everything in one section either here or there. IMHO.

I understand what your saying. However with the increased popularity in the Disney races over the last couple years the webmasters felt it was time for its own forum. Many dis members don't realize this subforum exists. Now the new forum is much easier to find. I think the new runDisney forum would be specific to rundisney races and threads about those races. This subforum could still be used for those other races like Boston, NYC, and Chicago.

I can understand the reasoning for the new created forum and traffic flow. I will visit each forum since I have home screen shortcuts for these and a couple other DIS forums I participate in.

I guess it will mean the running thread will have to remain in this section although my vote (if it can count) would be to move over. We all are intertwined in all of these threads anyway. ::yes::

I never get alerts very often on watched threads it seems, so it would be nice if this one moved to the RunDisney forum, otherwise I probably will forget to come this way anymore.

My "alerts" never work anymore either. I just click on "watched threads" and so far everything that has been updated was there. :)
