I never get alerts very often on watched threads it seems, so it would be nice if this one moved to the RunDisney forum, otherwise I probably will forget to come this way anymore.

I'm trying to prevent this very thing from happening. I would hate for this thread to just be forgotten about because it isn't where all the running folks go to get info. I also think moving it will bring in some new folks into the thread, which would benefit everyone from a knowledge standpoint. For the time being, we will have to wait and see what happens.

On the thread about the new forum a few below here, post you want it all moved as they are asking if they should just move all threads.

QOTD: When you go on vacation (That is not based on a running event) do you bring your running gear with you? Do you actually make it out for a run?

ATTQOTD: If I'm not racecationing, I'm vacationing at WDW over summer - and living here in FL, I pretty much live in running clothes all summer, so yeah - running clothes are almost ALL I bring on vacation, lol! I'll toss in a couple non-running Disney tees and a dress/skirt or two, but it's pretty much running skirts and tech tees other than that. Do I actually run? Sometimes. I won't make myself get up at Stupid-Early to run on vacation, but I did utilize SSR's awesome treadmills last summer to run during an afternoon storm.

QOTD: With the new forum runDisney, and if we had a choice (which I hope we do?.?.?), would you like to see this thread brought over to it or stay here? Why or why not?

ATTQOTD: No preference here - I'll find the thread in my Watched Threads list, wherever it goes!

ATTQOTD: I would like it to make the move because most of the running folks would be able to participate in this thread as well as their upcoming Disney running event all in one place.

I'd prefer to leave things here. I don't see the need for the new forum in the base case. Seems like a solution in search of a problem.

Really how so? Many find this location hard to find. RunDisney has grown so much that it deserves its own spot and not just a subforum of the WISH forum. I think the new location will be great to encourage even more people to join in discussions and the great existing threads like this one.

Not sure what part of Philly you are in but if you are near the Franklin Institute and the "Rocky Steps", there is a neat park behind the museum by the river and boathouses. I'm sure that the area has a name but I've only been there once and the name escapes me. Nice place for a run.

We will be in Philly in about 10 days to do a 15k.

I was staying at the Downtown Marriott and that is exactly where I ran. I walked over to FDR and then ran down Race to the river trail, headed north past all the rowing clubs, and back. It was a really nice run. I did the RnR Philadelphia race twice so I knew about the river trail from that race.

Good luck on your 15k.

I think the new RunDisney forum is a good idea. I refer people here from the touring boards often and it seems they never knew there was a sub-forum under WISH for the RunDisney events.

ATTQOTD: I'd definitely like it to go over with the RD events. I'm guessing almost all of us have done or are planning to do one of the RD events and this thread is very complimentary to those events...or something like that.

I agree with this but this is a nice forum in between races so I don't want this one to go away.

ATTQOTD: It doesn't really matter to me, but I guess wherever it will see the most traffic. :) I have the thread on my watch list and I primarily visit the watch list when I visit the forums, so it makes no difference to me where it actually lives.

Yeah, I agree. I will find it wherever it is. I'm not worried about it. Anything I participate on regularly I never forget about so for me it's not an issue.

Whether a business trip or vacation I always bring my running gear. I try very hard to stick my schedule. Also I love running in new places. I like to investigate popular running routes and explore cities, etc. Sometimes I have to settle for the hotel treadmill and that is not so exciting. Those are the times I miss a run...

I really like this thread. It is great to hear about everyone's races, thoughts on QOTD, and running knowledge. I feel like I have learned so much from the thread. My opinion is that if we can move it over to the new site we should, but I will follow it where ever it is.

To me since 99.0% of this whole section is about rundis, mentions rundis is training for run dis, why can't it ALL be moved.. To me it seems silly if I want to talk about a race I did in training for Star Wars I'd post somewhere completely different than if I wanted to talk about the Star Wars race.. Or can the 'non dis' running be a subsection of the new home? I consider my running to be inclusive of all race companies and the idea of dividing it here bothers me..

QOTD: Do you run in cotton shirts and/or shorts?

ATTQOTD: When I first started to run again, I ran with t-shirts and basketball/mesh shorts. I did this for two reasons, the first is it is what I had available at the time and the second is I wasn't a fan of how short running shorts are. The problem was the shirt was irritating during my early runs and the last straw was getting caught in a downpour one afternoon and my shorts would not stay on. After that day I purchased "running" clothes and was amazed at how much more practical it really was.

QOTD: Do you run in cotton shirts and/or shorts?

ATTQOTD: I had the advantage of a husband who had been a runner for several years that advised me about the challenges of running in cotton, so I've never really run in cotton save for our annual Turkey Trot 5K. I also break the rule of wearing the race shirt for this race. Mostly I do that because we force our kids to run this with us and make all of them wear their shirts so we match as a family. It's the purest form of torture for teens and pre-teens. :D

ATTQOTD: No! Never! :) Well, I mean, I used to back in high school when I was running cross country. Tech fabric wasn't really a "thing" back then yet I don't think? It was in 1990-1994. But I have been working out in tech fabric shirts and whatever polyester/drifit combo my capri pants happen to be for 10+ years now. And now I'll add spandex to the list because I started a SparkleSkirt habit last fall so now I have short things to run in in the hot weather. Up until now I just wore my capris all year long even in the summer because if I run in shorts, being a little on the fluffier side, the shorts usually get eaten by the thigh monster, and I spend the whole run tugging my shorts down, only to have them ride back up in the middle 2 seconds later.

ATTQOTD: I generally don't have any reason to run in cotton and over the years I've acquired enough tech shirts that I don't ever need to dig into the cotton pile. All my shorts are tech.

I run in cotton shorts when it's cooler cause they are my longer warmer shorts, but rarely run in cotton shirts anymore unless it's like a secondary layer over a tech for freezing runs.

Yep, me too for cotton tshirts back in high school cross country, I ran 94-97 & tech stuff just wasn't a thing that I knew of, except our uniforms were tech I guess, it was run in any old cotton tshirt you had for practice. No fancy 'running' specific clothes for me then.

QOTD: Do you run in cotton shirts and/or shorts?

Cotton? What's that? I never run in cotton, or do anything athletic in cotton for that matter. I sweat so much as is, I need something that will get rid of some of the sweat, and tech material is so much more comfortable anyway.

ATTQOTD: No standard cotton for me, though I do wear RawThreads cotton blend tanks sometimes. I had a lot of workout wear (poly blend capris and tops) prior to taking up running. I had learned the lesson not to wear cotton back when I first started working out, so no need to make the mistake when I took up running. Nothing horrible came of cotton, but it was simply not as comfortable for workouts, so I stuck with technical materials.

ATTQOTD: Yep, like others I did when I first started running, then was enlightened about tech material by my DD26 who runs. Now I only wear moisture wicking tech gear. Although in my last half I wore a Raw Threads tank top because it matched a Sparkle Skirt I wanted to wear and regretted it very soon into the race. The shirt itself wasn't so bad but the big bow patch on the front and small one on the back did not breathe at all and I got so hot! I will stick to my tech gear for running and save RT tanks for Disney. :)

ATTQOTD: I am fine with a rundisney forum, but I'm fine with how it is now. I only ever found the run disney stuff after seeing a link on a trip report a long time ago. So I really had no idea what WISH really was until then. I do have my WISH journal and I try to keep up with others so I will be in this WISH area but will also go check out the rundisney one too. Because stalking races I am not running is fun/torture for me.
I feel like although my journal is run heavy...I have stuff in there about food and weight too, so makes sense to me it stays there. Seems like most of the active WISH journals are runners at the moment and lots of rundisney runners.

ATTQOTD: I have run in cotton but not my first choice. Mostly in the beginning when I did not have enough tech stuff in my wardrobe to not have to do laundry every other day. I also ran an untimed 5k in cotton pants (yoga style) ONLY because it was a weirdly freezing windy day and I had not bought approriate long tights yet. I loathe the day I have to wear those cotton socks again. Right now it's all tech fabric everything.
