The Running Thread - 2016

I have two questions:

1. Ladies (said in my best "Ladies Man" voice) do any of you wear the sport specific underwear? I know UA and Champion both make them. Just wondering if they are worth the price.

2. We are doing Star Wars Dark Side and are contemplating doing one park - Animal Kingdom - likely the day of the 10k. If we have a one day, one park ticket, can we leave for a few hours to nap and come back in on the same ticket?

ATTQOTD: Summer 2013 I was 12 years removed from my last marathon and 25 pounds heavier than I am now. Running (specifically the 2014 Disney World Marathon) helped get me back into a healthier pattern. Then running became a routine and its helped with an overall healthier lifestyle.

Good gosh, no! - To the underwear question. Even the built in panties in running shorts drive me batty until I am sweaty enough that they stay in place. I went to tights only (either shorts, capris or full pants) which allow me to go commando. No undies trying to saw me in half to deal with that way.

And yes, your single day park ticket allows you readmission to the same park as many times as you would like in that day.

Quality athletic-wear should negate the need for underwear... ;)

Having said that, I do think that fit is likely the most important thing. You don't want a pair that is too big, because you will get chafing in places where you didn't know it was possible! :faint:

That is my go to plan but I saw some in Target the other day and wondered what was so special about athletic undies, and if I was missing out.

Thank you!

I am being unproductive at work this afternoon and ventured over to some threads I normally don't get to look at very much and then even made my way over to the training journals. I had no idea so many of the very folks that post in this thread have journals as well. If tomorrow is as unproductive as today is I know where to spend some time reading. Kinda want to start one myself. I had one while training for WDW full last year, but haven't touched it since then and not sure it made it way over when the forum expanded to how we are currently set up. A new start sounds better anyway if I go that route.

I wear Saucony runderpants (silly name and they come with silly sayings across your rear). For me, they're worth it. They don't ride up or move at all and are wicking - much better than anything cotton. If you're happy going commando I certainly wouldn't spend the extra $20 per pair.

Well, I'll be getting a seed card for my Thanksgiving race. :jumping1:

I was worried as we started since there was no start mat. I figured that was another 10 seconds or so I was going to have to reduce my time by! Everything went smoothly though. I started a bit faster than I planned, but decided to just go with it since it felt hard but not unbearable. I did slow some, but felt good, though pushing it hroughout. I didn't need to worry about being out front because there was a local kids' training plan this fall and this was the "graduation" race. I was beat by a half dozen 11 year old boys (and a couple others too). :P Turns out there was a chip start (in the arch, not a mat), so my chip time was 16:04! I did run one other 2 mile race 13 years ago, and this is a PR by just over 3 minutes.
