THE RETURN of THE WHATLEYS MAY 21-30. Our trip is done, now time for the TR :(

The food you have planned for the party sounds so yummy Dana! Love that cake!! :thumbsup2 I have nothing to offer as I'm drawing a blank and really just thinking about pineapple and ham pizza now...:lmao:

A tropical themed Disney party!! Sounds like it's going to be a lot of FUN!! I love that cake, I'm gonna see if Emily and Lizzie want that for their birthday party in June!

I also love the pics of the CARS party. The cake is great!

What a cute cake Dana! I love it.

I still haven't forgotten about you. I just got some time last night to sit down and just read the PTR. I am about halfway done now.

Thanks Megan. I hope it tastes as good as it looks!

Girl you don't worry about that, I know how it is trying to work, take care of a family, a house, and everything else that is going on. I haven't been the best Diser lately, myself.

How right you are .

I'm looking forward to the party. After the wild week I have had at work I need a break . We had 3 sets of premature twins this week along with another preemie. That is all on top of our regular deliveries.

I may have to sneak a ham and pineapple pizza in on them :rolleyes1.

.......................and chocolate fondue!

I wish I had thought to borrow the chocolate fountain from Matt's mom :sad1:. I have been so tired this week I am lucky I remember my name....lol.

Hey Pam. I hope it turns out good. I think the cake is so cute. I can't wait to see it tomorrow.

We had a good time at the Cars party. It seems like so long ago.

Hey Girl- sorry it's been so long since I've checked in- crazy busy here! But, i just got somewhat caught up and wanted to say that we had that Mickey cake from Target for one of my son's bdays. It was so cute! I think you'll really like it. And I am now dying for some chocolate fondue with pineapples! YUMM!

Wow what a crazy week! Hope all the babies are doing well. We know they have been in good hands. :goodvibes

It has been a crazy week Leanne, I was give out Friday night when I got off. When I left we had 6 babies in our NICU; we don't usually have that many at one time. The babies were all doing great when I left. One of the three sets of twins was in our Well Baby nursery . Thanks for saying that Leanne . I love my job .:lovestruc

Hope you're having a good Saturday,

Dana! :) Enjoy your weekend!

Thank you Michelle, I had a really good Saturday :thumbsup2. I'm still tired from work this past week, but it was a beautiful day and my party went really well.

Hey Brandi . It is good to hear from you :goodvibes. I know you are busy with the school year coming to a close. The cake WAS really cute, and it was the best cake I have had in a long time. It is not so cute now as it has been demolished......:rotfl:. When Amanda and I went to pick up the cake, she found some dipping chocolate that I had not seen before. It was yummy. I am going to post pictures later today.

Man, I LOVE mickey mail!!! LOL Can't wait to get mine!!! Shoot, I just want mine paid off!!! HAHA

It really felt good to have my trip paid off. I am saving up for our spending money now. We will use Dale's vacation money to buy our APs and have some spending money, and of course the food is already paid for, but we have to have gas money and anything extra.

Mickey Mail is an amazing thing isn't it ?

Saturday seemed to dawn REALLY early :cool2:. I wanted to sleep late since we have been so busy at work, but I knew I had a lot to do before the party. I was up at 7:30 to get ready for the day. We headed out the door around 9 ish to get everything done.

Dale likes to go to the Flea Market when the weather is cool and this morning was really nice. We walked around some and I got a cool pair of Alabama sunglasses and Dale got an Alabama championship hat to wear to work. We talked to the guy we bought the stuff from and he was from Hammond, La., but we didn't hold him being an LSU fan again him :rolleyes1 :rotfl:. He also had some neat Saints stuff. There is a booth that always has the best fruits and veggies, so I bought some veggies, strawberries, and bananas from him.

After we left the flea market we headed to the Eastern Shore to do our shopping. I was getting hungry and everyone who knows me knows what I wanted for lunch. Yep, Mexican food :goodvibes. The waiter said they had a new margarita and asked me if I wanted to try it? Me? Try a margarita? Are you kidding? OF COURSE......:lmao:. It was peach flavored and it was OK, but I will stick to the regular ole lime margarita next time. We had lunch and then headed to Sam's club.

Sam's club carries a tortilla chip called On the Border, and they are really good for dipping and for nachos. Since my niece was bringing salsa and a sausage cheese dip to the party we bought two big bags. I love a good steak and I can't find any that are better than the NY strips at Sam's, so I had to get some of those too. We finished up or shopping here and headed back toward Mobile.

We got home, unloaded everything and went back out to finish our shopping. The cake was suppose to be ready at 4pm, and since it was only 1:30 I knew we had more stuff to do. We went to Dollar Tree and I could not believe they had several rows of Tiki and tropical themed stuff out. I bought all of the party stuff I needed there and came out really good. We had to go to GameStop and pick up Dallas' Pokemon Soul Silver game and then we headed to Target.

When we got to Target it was about 2:10-2:30, I knew it was early, but I though I would just check and see if the cake was ready. Well, not only was it not ready, but I though the lady was going to :rotfl:. She said they were just starting to work on the 2:00 pm cakes :scared1:. I'm glad I ordered the cake for 4:00 and the party wasn't until 5:00. Dale and I bought everything else we needed and headed back home so I could get the decorations done.

I pulled out all the decorations I had bought and started trying to transform my kitchen and dining area into a tropical paradise........:rotfl:. I really wanted to go all out and put sand out and sea shells and stuff everywhere, but then Dale reminded me that I would be the one having to clean up......., so I scaled it back a tad . So, here goes the decorations, ya'll be gentle and don't laugh at me too hard, I'm not as creative in that area as most.

I got this to hang at my front door

I bought two of these little signs. This one and one that says Aloha.

My washer and dryer are in my kitchen and I have a curtain over them now. I had bi fold doors up, but I got tired of having to put them back on the track every other day :rolleyes1. Yes, I would have to do it, Dale is handyman challenged :rotfl2:.

IMG_0930.jpg

These were the most difficult little things to hang. They are strung on really thin fishing line and to say they got tangled up would be an understatement. As you can see I finally got it all undone.

I had to get Tyler to hang this because I am vertically challenged. It is over my bedroom door.

Next we are on to the table scape as Sandra Lee says.

So after all the decorations were done it was time to head back to Target and get the cake. Amanda and I headed out. When we got there I had to get the pineapple because I had forgotten it earlier, now I don't buy a whole pineapple because I don't like to have to peel it, but I did buy the fresh that THEY had peeled . I also still needed the chocolate dip, but Target did not have it in the fruit section :scared1:. I got really nervous and Amanda and I set out to go isle by isle to find some type dip. I was resigned to the idea that I would have to make the ole stand by marshmallow cream cheese dip. NOOOOO not yet, Amanda found some Baker's chocolate fondue dip :woohoo:. I had never seen it before, but it is in the baking goods area at Target.

We got home and I set the cake out. It was sooooo cute.

I loved the little sugar crystals on the water part; they shimmered like water would.

Ok so enough of the cake already.....;).

My niece Angie showed up at about 4:45 and helped me finish up the fruit tray.

The chocolate dip was REALLY good.

I forgot to get pictures of the salsa or the cheese dip :guilty:.

I made the sherbet/ginger ale punch.

IMG_0952.jpg

Target didn't have the pineapple sherbet, so I got orange. The punch was a big hit and was long gone before the party was over. We decided to just buy Tombstone pizzas instead of ordering from somewhere.

Next are the pictures of everyone at the party

Starting at the top, left to right.....Joseph, my grand nephew, Dallas, Jackson, my grand nephew and Alex, Jennifer's son.

Dana---Everything with your party looks soooooo cute and amazing! First off, the food looks yummy-- pineapple, strawberries, and chocolate! :cloud9: The cake is so cute, too!

Your table scape (as Sandra Lee would call it) looks beautiful and tropical. I felt like I was at the Poly! ;)

I'm sure everyone enjoyed themselves. (Were they watching A-Day? :) )

Thanks Michelle. We really had a good time AND my niece Angie makes the BEST salsa. The cheese dip was out of this world yummy too.

Dale had set the DVR and we had the A-Day game going during the party :thumbsup2.

The cake was the best cake I have had in a LONG time :goodvibes.

Great job on the party, Dana!
Ashton loves to play in the tub with his Minnie & Mickey figures (great tub toys for little ones--they don't have holes to collect nasty water)...
looks like a lot of fun!
:wave2:
