The Pursuit of Disney Magic (June 7-14, 2008) ~ UPDATED 9/30 pg. 191

I love Chelsea's dress! Where did you find it?

I love Connor's comment about taking the pic upside down. :rotfl: Very cute!

At Mombasa Marketplace in the Africa section of Animal Kingdom (the gift shop). It was only $20, and she knew the moment she saw it that she wanted to spend some of her money on it.

I laughed out loud when he said that!

Do you mind saying how much it costs to have the face painting done? My DDs would absolutely love it!:lovestruc DD6 acts like a cat for hours at a time and doesn't even have her face painted!

Wednesday turned out to be the day of changes for us. Originally it was going to be a full day at the Magic Kingdom with dinner at Crystal Palace and finishing up with Spectro and Wishes.

Well, upon waking up Wednesday morning Charles and I had a little pow-wow about the plans for the day. I told him that NO MATTER WHAT I was staying to watch Spectromagic and Wishes with or without the rest of the family. NO MATTER WHAT. I was adament about this.

Charles, in turn, said that he wasn't too keen on hitting a park first thing in the morning and then staying really late. Could we take it easy during the majority of the day and head over around dinner? Okay, I was pretty sure I could live with that since I was starting to really feel all the walking we had done as well.

Before you gasp in horror at the thought of us going to the Magic Kingdom for essentially half a day, remember that we had been there in October and in April -- we were okay with a limited amount of time at MK. As long as I saw the Castle and got my parade and my fireworks, I was all set.

While we were talking changes I threw out the idea that I wasn't too excited about a character dinner. So, we called and changed our Crystal Palace over to Kona Cafe for dinner. Yeay! I was going to get to eat at Kona Cafe after all!

Then we headed to Downtown Disney for breakfast at Earl of Sandwich and shopping.

If the lunch and dinner offerings are half as good at Earl of Sandwich as their breakfast stuff, we are so eating there next time! I had a breakfast BLT, Charles and the kids had bacon, egg, and cheese sandwiches, and there was real coffee. I was in heaven! The atmosphere was relaxing and cozy, and it was a great way to start our morning.

Now, no matter what, my children always have an agenda of their own -- I guess they get it from their mother. ;) Connor knew he wanted to spend some of his money at the Lego Store and really, didn't care about any of the other places we wanted to stop at. Oh well, with the Lego Store at the other end of the Marketplace, he just had to deal with it.

After breakfast we went to Goofy's Candy Company and stocked up on snacks for later in the day, and Disney's Days of Christmas for a Mickey Santa for my MIL (she collects Santas) and our ornament to mark the trip.

One of the things that I had decided to do for my mom and Charles's mom was to get silhouettes done of the children. When I was little, every trip to the Magic Kingdom, my mother made me sit still and get my silhouette done. I thought it would be the perfect gift for the two grandmothers. As luck would have it, there was a silhouette kiosk at Downtown Disney, so we had the kids do that -- it didn't take long at all, and I was able to cross that off our list.

Finally (in Connor's words), we made our way to the Lego Store. The boy was in heaven and took FOREVER to choose his purchases. We were all a little antsy by the time we escaped from there! I think he chose a couple of Indiana Jones sets and made some Lego people.

We finished up with World of Disney and Basin. I had never been in Basin and loved it!!! I had to stock up in there!

We got back to POFQ around noon and took the kids to the pool.

I wrote out postcards and took pictures of the buildings near the pool.

Here is a picture of the outside of the food court as we headed back.

After a few hours at the pool, the kids ate their treats from Goofy's. I am kind of cringing, now, to see Connor eating on the rug. That's kind of gross! :scared:

Chelsea had the giggles about something -- I can't remember what it was though. You can also see her Fat Minnie that she bought at the World of Disney.

By this time, I was over the relaxing and ready to hit the road for dinner and the Magic Kingdom.

I am super excited to hear your review of Kona Cafe. That is one of the ADR's I am most looking forward too!!

Another great update. I love the titles of your chapters. I can't wait to get our Christmas ornament (s) when we go. I love Christmas. We bought one in Bermuda.

As far as Connor eating on the rug, it builds his immune system. :lmao: Plus he was using a paper towel. :thumbsup2

Yes, you definitely need to eat lunch at Earl of Sandwich sometime! The sandwiches are great. :thumbsup2

I also love the pic of Connor waving as he goes down the slide. Very cute!

And regarding him eating on the rug, LL is right--builds his immune system! I've heard that kids allowed to play in the dirt get sick less often than those whose parents insist on keeping them "clean." You'll have a very healthy son. :lmao:

Oh, I love how relaxed this day is!!!

And of course, since I'm jonesing for a stay at POFQ, I'm living vicariously through your photos!

The kids look like they had a great time. And I totally feel the same way when DH is in the Lego store. We usually don't buy any (I know that'll change as DS gets older) but we have to look.:goodvibes

Love a "relax" day! I wish we could have one this trip, but it is too short! I think hitting Downtown Disney in the morning would be awesome......we always go at night and it is usually packed!!

Looking at your pictures of POFQ brings back memories from our first trip. We had a blast there, and the boys still say the slide was the best part of the trip (they were 4 and 3 at the time!).

Can't wait to hear about the rest of your evening!

Could we take it easy during the majority of the day and head over around dinner? Okay, I was pretty sure I could live with that since I was starting to really feel all the walking we had done as well.

You are a better woman than I. LOL

While we were talking changes I threw out the idea that I wasn't too excited about a character dinner. So, we called and changed our Crystal Palace over to Kona Cafe for dinner. Yeay! I was going to get to eat at Kona Cafe after all!!

I can't wait to hear about Kona!!!

So, did you LOVE POFQ????
I stayed at POR and wasn't crazy over it at all. I accidently got off at POFQ after the half marathon(wayyyyyy back in 2003) b/c I was butt tired from being up all night. Someone noticed I had just done the half marathon(umm, was it the gargantuous Donald bling about my neck? or the silver blanket with the Mickey marathon emblem???or possibly, the tired look on my face???) and said, "hey, just run to POR!!!". ha.

Anyway, I did walk into the lobby and thought it was so much prettier than POR. I didn't like POR b/c I got lost and never could find my room b/c it all looks alike!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The food was good though.

sounds like a relaxing day. I hope we have one of those. Can't wait to hear about Kona and Wishes and Spectro. I love the POFQ pics. We got married in the New Orleans French Quarter, so it sorta brings it home to me. I hope we get to stop by there on our trip. Love the swimming pics too!

I miss POFQ...def making that the place to stay next time. Love the slide! Great pics!

Earl of Sandwich sounds delicious. I haven't eaten there, but i'm going to put it on the list.

Do you get an ornament on each of your trips?

The silhouettes are a great idea. I am sure the grandmothers will LOVE those as gifts!

It sounds like you had such a nice, relaxing beginning of the day. I hope we can manage to do that at least once on our trip!

Hey Jackie-
Glad you found Basin, it's one of my favorite stores. I'm another DISer looking forward to your review of Kona for dinner. I keep going back and forth with that one because of DS. And I'm happy to hear that breakfast at EOS is good....that's on our plans too.

I don't know about Basin, can you please elaborate? As for relaxing at Disney, gosh, we just don't know how to do that! I'm hoping to take a deep breath and remember we have just been there and are going back in March so this time with DH we can just sit back and chill out.........:hippie: Did I just say chill out about going to Orlando in July??? :rotfl:

Longtime lurker, but had to post about the pictures for the grandmothers! It's the first time I heard about someone doing that, such a cool gift idea! You guys sound like you have a good time together!!!:cool1:

Awesome morning!! Sometimes those days off turn out to be some of the greatest moments of a trip!
