From Sunday's Parade Magazine...

Q. Pat Robertson, host of The 700 Club, just published Miracles Can Be Yours Today. What miracle does he pray for?
—S. Hensley, Los Angeles, Calif.

A. “I have prayed that somehow, thanks to the goodness of the Lord, we would have a change in the composition of the Supreme Court,” Robertson, 76, tells us. “We’ve had two new justices already, and I’m sure one more is coming. That’s miracle enough for me.”

That's what he prays for? That's the biggest problem the world faces today?

I can't believe that anyone gives this man the time of day, much less some space in a publication.

Goodness. With all of the hurt, hunger, hate, and war on this earth, the man is praying for the death of the justices? How sad. If I thought I had that kind of power, I would be using it in a much different manner.

It was a very small piece, but I'm left wodering why they covered it at all. Not sure if it was to say "look at the scary stufff this guy is saying" or "spreading the word" :confused3

Just to point out that in the quote from the OP, Robertson said nothing about praying for any SCOTUS justices to die. The latest change came via a retirement.

;) Fair enough...but I bet he wouldn't be heartbroken if one of the bad justices just dropped dead!

Yeah, he never actually said die. He worded it perfectly.

You are giving him too much credit. Hasn't he already proven that he doesn't think before he speaks?

It probably meant exactly what he said. You can pray for the court to change without meaning you want a justice to drop dead.

From what I've read Robertson to say, this wouldn't surprise me. That man's elevator doesn't go all the way to the top floor, I'm afraid.

Too true. The man is a nutjob, pure and simple. It is a shame, because people project his views on many that would in no way support them.

Or, to quote two wise men:

Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

There is quite a bit of anecdotal evidence that prayers can help the healing process in human beings and can even influence the world around us.

There has been a slew of research into the health aspects in particular, some of it psychological. There are a number of views as to how the power of prayer functions scientifically, many of them revolving around the multiple reality theories.

However, note that just because something can be explained through science it doesn't mean that it's any less miraculous or holy :goodvibes
