The Port Report: Frumpin Around the World with the Bathrobe Princesses :) COMPLETE

Hooray that Vickie was feeling better! :yay:

Ugh. I hate rain. Actually, I enjoy rain when I have nothing to do and can just curl up under a blanket and watch movies all day, but on days when I actually have to go out in it, I hate it.

Aw, you girls look FABULOUS in your $7 Disney ponchos. I hate them too, but when it's pouring, you've just gotta suck it up and rock the poncho.

And the weird plastic-y smell that comes with it. :rotfl:

I REALLY want to try that carrot cake cookie. It looks delicious. Somebody remind me before I leave so that I don't forget about it. :thumbsup2

You guys are awesome for auditioning for American Idol. I'm not-so-secretly jealous of people who have talent because it seems like such a cool experience. When are they going to bring "So You Think You Can Dance?" to Disney? I'd be awesome at that! Nicki sounds like a sweetheart. Did you immediately run out and buy a tiara? If someone told me I had a "princess-sounding" voice, I'd be all over that. princess:

Yey another update :goodvibes Glad to hear that Vickie was now feeling better and that you could all enjoy your day without feeling ill. The ponchos are ok, better than looking like you have jumped in the pool or swam to HS :lmao: The carrot cake cookie looks sooo good, might have to add it to my to do and try list :thumbsup2 Looking forward to the next post :wizard:

Ok, I've gone to WDW for over 30+ times and never been to the Writer's Stop. Where is it? I think we definitely need to stop by and check this out for our May trip.

Thanks so much for the background on American Idol -- I've always wondered what happens back stage.

It sounds like you had a great time, even if you didn't get chosen.

Did they say how many people generally try out?

That's sooooo cool that you guys tried out for the show! I would be 2 chicken to try it out. Every since the attraction opened it has been a must do for us. We decided to get into the actual show after seeing it in Disney in August 2009. well, it just so happened that in that year a guy from my hometown was trying out and the whole town was following his progress. He ended up winning the show that year so it was a great year to get invested in the show and it was soooo much fun going to the hometown parade and having the whole town rooting him on.

The Writer's Stop is down the lane where ABC Commissary is and like right next to Sci-Fi. :thumbsup2

I bet it was really fun to audition for the American Idol Experience. I wonder if they ever get people auditioning that are laughably bad, like they do on the real show.

I really want to try that carrot cake cookie someday, if I can ever resist Starring Rolls.

Hey! Just found you TR and read the whole thing. LOVE everything so far!!! You girls are cracking me up. I love the bathrobe singing princesses and the definition of Frump! I definitely have frump moments. The pictures of Yacht Club are so pretty. Our home resort is Beach Club and it is our favorite. We love everything about it, stormalong bay, walk to Epcot and Hollywood studios, the entertainment of boardwalk right across the lake. Can not wait to read more!!!

I'm so glad you found us! It's great to have people who support our frumpy ways reading along! And oh you're so lucky your home resort is the beach club!! It's beautiful there. I would love to stay at Yacht and/or Beach Club again. The convenience of the Epcot resorts is fantastic. Thanks for being here :thumbsup2 I can't wait to share more with you!

I loved your Toon Town tribute.
The pic that your used for your FB profile was adorable!
I hate that Vickie was not feeling good. I hope whe was able to enjoy the rest of the trip.
I always seem to read TR's when I'm hungry. I'm starving over here & your chocolate crossaint pic does not help!!!

I want to see pics of the gryffendor scarfs & cute boys

Thank you x2 :)
And aww I know. Thankfully it only lasted one night!
And hahaha I am always on disboards when I'm hungry and I look at the Food Pictures thread. It always increases my hunger but i do it anyway :lmao:
And aww I don't think we have any pictures of those! Shoot, that would have been a good idea to take pictures of them... Especially the boys. ;)

Great update!! You three gals are honestly the cutest, why do I need to say that every time I post!!! Because you ARE!! :rotfl: I love the tribute to ToonTown, I have to think of a way to print all of those pictures off. we go every trip, and the mailboxes are our 'place' to take the progression in height pics. Ok ok my kids are teenagers now but so what I love ToonTown with my girls.
so sad it is gone.
Also do you know what they did for Vick in first aid? I get at least one day of motion sickness every trip, the last trip was the worst, and I never thought to go there. So if they have some magic back there I would love to know in case it happens again. The smallest things make me sick, one trip it won't then I do it next time and forget it!!

Ok can't wait to read more!! Your TR is so full of energy it makes me even more excited for my trip!!!

Haha aww thank you! I know, Toontown is adorable. Those mailboxes are such a cute place to take pictures! It's a shame they're gone now :(
And in First Aid they gave Vickie something to settle her stomach resulted from the motion sickness and let her lay down in the back until she felt better. It was anti nausea medicine. And they were extremely nice to her! So, I guess thats what happens in Disney First Aid lol
And haha thank you!! I can't wait to write more!

I'm joining in even though it's a bit late! I came over from Kara's TR. Looks like you girls had a fun trip so far :goodvibes

Thanks for finding us! Yes we had a wonderful time! And aww I love Kara's TR! Hopefully you like ours too!

Hi Jess,

I followed you over from my PTR, and I am loving your TR!!! I especially loved your bathrobe princess experience. You girls can really sing too! I hate that Vickie got sick and had to miss the MK evening, I hope she felt better for the rest of your trip. I can't wait to read more.

Since I think you got Kristen and me mixed up, I think I will have to check out your PTR! I'm glad you're here either way! I'm glad you're enjoying our story so far! And yes, Vickie felt better soon after that night! I'll update again soon, I promise!

I know it's easy to get us mixed up, everyone does. We even do ourselves sometimes. :lmao:

LOL how true. Story of our lives.

I braved the poncho. It's kinda cute...in a totally unflattering way.... :rotfl2:

I thought we looked perfectly frumpy. :thumbsup2

Hooray that Vickie was feeling better! :yay:

Ugh. I hate rain. Actually, I enjoy rain when I have nothing to do and can just curl up under a blanket and watch movies all day, but on days when I actually have to go out in it, I hate it.

I completely agree. Sometimes rain is even fun in Disney. But sometimes it just is annoying. Especially in January when you have to go home to the snow... You want SOME sort of nice weather even if it isn't 80 degrees out.

Aw, you girls look FABULOUS in your $7 Disney ponchos. I hate them too, but when it's pouring, you've just gotta suck it up and rock the poncho.

And the weird plastic-y smell that comes with it. :rotfl:

hahaha so true. Oh Disney ponchos. They really are good though for those Florida rainstorms. They get a little intense sometimes!

I REALLY want to try that carrot cake cookie. It looks delicious. Somebody remind me before I leave so that I don't forget about it. :thumbsup2

Haha you definitely should! It's delicious! Write yourself a reminded somewhere lol

Haha thank you! And I understand how you feel.. Because I usually end up in the audience watching anyway :rotfl: Whenever I see people onstage I envy them ever so slightly LOL. And haha that would be a fancy Disney attraction! And hahaha oh my God I really should have bought myself a tiara. I loved that princess:

Yey another update. Glad to hear that Vickie was now feeling better and that you could all enjoy your day without feeling ill. Yes yay for Vickie's improved health! And hahaha I completely agree about those ponchos. They also are better than walking around in soaked clothes all day. And yes you should try the carrot cake cookie! YUM!

Ok, I've gone to WDW for over 30+ times and never been to the Writer's Stop. Where is it? I think we definitely need to stop by and check this out for our May trip.

Did they say how many people generally try out?

I think that it's by Sci-Fi (I think Kristen answered your question a few posts back lol) You should definitely check it out! It's a cute little Disney secret.
And you're welcome! Yeah, it was a really cool experience!
And they might have said.. but I forgot. But I know chances are better if you try out in the morning.

Aww it's not too scary! If you sing you should give it a try someday! It's a really cool show to watch from the audience though! And oh my God that's so cool! Was that Kris Allen??

I bet it was really fun to audition for the American Idol Experience. I wonder if they ever get people auditioning that are laughably bad, like they do on the real show.

I really want to try that carrot cake cookie someday, if I can ever resist Starring Rolls.

It was super fun! And hahaha oh my Gosh I wonder that too! That would be funny.
And haha you should try it sometime! I have never had Starring Rolls before though... but by the looks of the pictures... it may be hard to part with those cupcakes

That cookie looked amazing!!!!

Do you think you'll try out again on another trip??

It was delicious!
And I don't know. I really should because I would LOVEEE to be up on that stage. But I don't know. We'll see. I guess it's more important for me to eventually attend a Disney Princess audition. Because for that I would keep trying out until I got hired :lmao:

Ugh I hate having to resort to the ponchos too, but looks like you guys made the best of them! Too bad the bathrobes wouldn't have been as useful in the rain!

Good for you for auditioning for AI! Even if I could sing (which I have absolutely no ability to ), I would be too intimidated to do that!

Hope the weather clears up soon!

Hey there!! Thanks for comin' on over! I think you're a little confused though, I'm Kristen, the one from your PTR. Jess is the other frump. I know it's easy to get us mixed up, everyone does. We even do ourselves sometimes. :lmao:

I'm really enjoying your PTR! :thumbsup2 I love the "question of the day," those are great! :goodvibes

The bathrobe princesses experience is my favorite memory of Disney World. :wizard: It was so much fun! :) And thanks! We all love to sing! :rolleyes1 LOL.

Vickie did end up feeling better for the rest of the trip, so no worries. :goodvibes

I'm sure Jess will have a new update for ya'al soon!popcorn::

:lmao: I was confused. Sorry about that Kristen! I am glad that you are enjoying my trip report too. I am glad to hear that Vickie ended up feeling better.

:goodvibes

Haha veryyy good point! I wish that we could have used those bathrobes again! But they would have been SOAKED :rotfl:
And thank you! Yeah we almost chickened out but we tried! It was cool!

Where did you all get the cute Disney shirts you wore each day? I've seen a few really cool ones in Hot Topic and even Forever21, but I thought maybe you knew of some other places, as well!

Hi Jess,

I did at first get you two mixed up, sorry about that. Either way I am glad you are joining me and I am enjoying reading about your trip :goodvibes

I actually think we got the shirts IN Disney World. The best places are like the Emporium on Main Street and MouseGear in Epcot. I know Delia's sometimes has shirts and Target occassionally... but the ones we're wearing are actually from Disney. :wizard:

:

It was actually the winner of the next season, Lee Dewyze. He actually went to my old high school for 3 years before transfering as well. His brother was in my choir class sophmore year as well. sorry, I should have been clearer about when we started watching the show. and, I would like to try it someday. My brother and his fiancee are going to disney in december for their honeymoon so my mom and I are trying to convince him to try out. He and his fiancee are both music teachers but she defintely does not want to try out. He isn't a lost cause yet though haha!

All caught up at last!:goodvibes

Really enjoy all the cool imaginative photo's you guys think up, you've got loads of good ideas to make them all fun and interesting, you've inspired me to spice our photos up for our next trip and stop being so boring!:rotfl: I especially like the Eeyore photo with you holding out your hair like ears and the heart minnie and micky photo!

So cool that you tried out for Idol and it was definitely worth it for the experience and the fastpasses!:thumbsup2

can't wait to read more!:yay:

Chapter 20 - 50's Prime Time Cafe
January 17th, 2011

We decided to head over to 50's Prime Time Cafe about 20 minutes early for our reservation. We checked in and expected a wait, but were seated within 2 minutes! Awesome!

dsc05425o.jpg

We were seated at a TV Table.

dsc05415s.jpg

dsc05403q.jpg

dsc05404z.jpg

And our waiter was Mark!

dsc05416k.jpg

He introduced us to the other families in the room once we were seated.

He brought over this little girl named Sophia to our table. She loved us! She stuck around and talked to us for quite a bit! Most of the time was spent telling knock knock jokes.

The best one? "Knock Knock." "Who's There?" "Orange." "Orange who?" "Knock Knock." "Who's there?" "Banana." "Banana who?" "Knock Knock!" etc. :rotfl:

We tried to teach her the "orange you glad I didn't say banana" part, but she didn't get it. Ah I love children, they're so cute!

Here's the little jokester herself:

Now, as for the food review, which I'm sure you are all anxious for!

Mark told us that we could get milkshakes for our drink, even though we were on the dining plan, so we couldn't pass up that offer!

Kristen got a chocolate milkshake.

dsc05411u.jpg

I got Vanilla.

dsc05409o.jpg

And Vick got a Smoothie.

dsc05412n.jpg

What artsy Milkshake/Smoothie photography!

And as far as our meals... Kristen and I got the Fried Chicken! Yummm.

And we substituted the greens for green beans... which were actually very good! So, if you don't like the greens and don't wanna risk having to be spoon-fed them, (yes, that happened to me one time...) then I would highly recommend getting the green beans!

dsc05407d.jpg

The Fried Chicken was actually...
:mickeybar KRISTEN'S FOOD OF THE DAY! :mickeybar
Yeah... it was deer face good!

dsc05413v.jpg

Mom got the Chicken Pot Pie!

dsc05408f.jpg

And Vickie got the Chicken Sandwich. Which came with a Caesar Salad.

dsc05406k.jpg

Yay for 50's food!

dsc05417w.jpg

And then came the interesting part of the meal. Another waiter, named Tim, caught Vickie texting at the table! OH NO!

So... he put her in time out. Twice!

dsc05423.jpg

dsc05424t.jpg

Every time another waiter or waitress would pass by, the would make fun of Vickie. "HAHA YOU'RE IN TIME OUT!"

Poor Vick. She always gets picked on. But she was a good sport about it, and thankfully she got to come back in time for dessert!

Kristen and I got the s'mores, which were perfect after a big meal! They aren't super heavy, so I really liked them!

dsc05419y.jpg

Mother got the Apple Crisp.

dsc05420zg.jpg

And Vickie said she wasn't hungry... but Mark brought her a surprise dessert anyway. Which was the brownie sundae! Yum!

dsc05421t.jpg

After we ate, we said goodbye to Sophia and her family, and we were on our way to explore the rest of Hollywood Studios!

Overview of 50's Prime Time Cafe Dining Experience:
Food: DELICIOUS! 5/5
Service: Fantastic Servers! They were really in character, were super nice, and made us laugh. Vickie being put in time out and meeting Sophia were unique experiences that we will remember! 5/5
Overall Experience: Very memorable, very enjoyable, great food, AWESOME! 5/5

Continued in Next Post

What a fun meal :) That is a must do for my mom and I every time we go 2 disney :) What's really funny is that you and kristen got the exact same thing I ALWAYS get when I go to that restaraunt. My even get the chocolate shake and smores as well, which I guess bares the most resemblence to what kristen got. My mom gets the chicken pot pie like your mom does 2. I laughed out loud when I read about vicki's time out. I'm glad my waiter never caught me texting tis past trip. I'm sure i would have been in trouble. My mom one time when we were there had to go stand in the corner and put her nose to the wall one trip. Surprisingly enough I never got in trouble that trip (The waiter I guess really liked me). Can't wait to hear more.

Yum! What a fun meal at 50's PTC! I need to go back there again because I'm salivating at the milkshakes and your mom's chicken pot pie!

That's so funny Vicki got put in time-out because she was texting :rotfl: We haven't been in trouble yet, the worst we had to do was set the table
