Something really irked me the other day regarding the parking thread. We are an affluent family of three and visit the world 2-3 times a year. We always stay at the GF CL and once we add in a few rounds of golf, spa for the wife, etc… our trips easily exceed 30k a time. Then it got me thinking, should I demand a close spot because we are on the CL level? Should there be a standard room parking lot? Can I demand the make and model of any car parked next to our RR?

I mean when did this become common courtesy? On Saturday, I needed new shoes, so off I went to Nordstrom (Toms by the way are fabulous) should I have had security move cars for mall guest that are spending real money? Should I get the very first spot at Whole Foods because our weekly grocery bill exceeds what other people make in a month?

Never in my wildest dreams have I ever demanded that someone should park on the other side of a lot because it is common courtesy. Parking to me is the luck of the draw and I have only seen issues here on the DIS. I guess we should be careful what we wish for; as do we really want parking segregated by resort guests, class of guest and $ spent. If so, a lot of people are going to be on the outside looking in.

Most of the parking threads are about people parking at the resort who aren't staying there, or those parking there to save the parking fees, thus taking spots from guests staying there.

Really, you could have started a thread about parking if you wanted to, but why did you need to add all the other stuff?

Becasue it is the latest in a long line of IDs created for the sole purpose of "spicing things up" on the DIS.

which is a little unusual for this time of the year, usually when spring comes and everyone thaws out & gets outside away from the computer the stirrer's don't come around as much. A few other places I frequent have had these types of postings coming up alot this past week too.

If you have so much money to blow on luxuries why aren't you just using valet? Definitely would have made this thread more realistic!

Sure you should certainly demand and receive privileged parking at the parks and resorts.:thumbsup2 You should enjoy it now because after Obama puts his tax on you and benches your RR, you will feel right at home parking your smart car next to my SUV at the dollar store.:rotfl2:

I am trying to understand this as I have never heard of it anywhere but the DIS. So if I am going over to the CR for dinner and drinks. When I pull into the lot etiquette would dictate that I find the spot furthest from the resort as I am not a paying guest? I'm just curious of people do this in "real life." If you only need a gallon of milk do you park far away to save spots for those doing normal shopping?

Maybe we have been rude all these years. :confused3

Again furthering the notion that DIS is comprised of the nastiest group of people. Troll? Hardly, just someone trying to understand the proper parking policy. I get scamming the system if do not want to pay for parking. But asking someone to park in the furthest spot seems a bit odd.

Well we have to keep up with our reputation. Question, if we are so nasty and mean then why come here and ask for our help?

Come on 30K for a vacation and he is posting on disboards - please give me a break. .. very funny though :rotfl:

HEy, I don't care for the whole "troll" thing either as I was called one at 10 posts in by a nasty old woman on here. But You have to see where they are coming from you have 5 posts and most are negative. I would think most people would like to "test the waters" before coming full force.

And by the way IMO I would never brag about having a RR because as of lately that seems to be one of the not smartest vehicles to own. I am never envious of the ones who drive the big gas guzzling SUVs.

I'm not asking for help. Please reread every post and you will find I am not asking for any help.

My question centers around parking etiquette. I have never heard this before. Not at restaurants, stadiums, malls, concerts, etc...

This has to do with the "overflow" parking at the Boardwalk thread, doesn't it?

That thread was about whether people who aren't resorts guests of the Boardwalk are allowed to park in the Boardwalk parking lot.

To be honest, I don't know what the policy is. But I do know if you park at one of the deluxe resorts, Disney policy* indicates that you only get a 3 hour window for whatever it is you are doing at that resort. Assuming the same is true of the Boardwalk parking, the overflow lot can be used by anyone for any amount of time without fear of being towed. It's not a matter of etiquette, it's a matter of policy.

Unless, of course, there is no posted policy, in which case then I guess it is a matter of etiquette. Like I said, I don't know. I take the buses, so I never worry about this stuff. :confused3

*Please note that policy can be enforced or not enforced as the company sees fit. Some restrictions may apply. Cannot be combine with any other offer. Void where prohibited. Sorry, Tennessee!

Just for fun go to the Disney website and price a vacation with no coupons for three adults, 14 days, GF suite CL. Make sure you add park hoppers, water parks and deluxe dining. I know 30k might shock some but that is the going rate.

I only put the price of our vacation as most people use the mantra "I paid bigh bucks and should be able to park close to the hotel."
