The Parking Issue

This has to do with the "overflow" parking at the Boardwalk thread, doesn't it?

That thread was about whether people who aren't resorts guests of the Boardwalk are allowed to park in the Boardwalk parking lot.

To be honest, I don't know what the policy is. But I do know if you park at one of the deluxe resorts, Disney policy indicates that you only get a 3 hour window for whatever it is you are doing at that resort. Assuming the same is true of the Boardwalk parking, the overflow lot can be used by anyone for any amount of time without fear of being towed. It's not a matter of etiquette, it's a matter of policy.

Unless, of course, there is no posted policy, in which case then I guess it is a matter of etiquette. Like I said, I don't know. I take the buses, so I never worry about this stuff. :confused3

I'm trying to figure out if we broke some unwritten etiquette rule. No arguments on paying for parking and sticking to whatever window the CM tells us. I just never knew that even if I had an ADR I was expected to park in the furthest lot as other available spots were reserved for guests staying at the hotel. And if that is the case, then does this also translate to non-Disney parking lots?

I'm not asking for help. Please reread every post and you will find I am not asking for any help.

My question centers around parking etiquette. I have never heard this before. Not at restaurants, stadiums, malls, concerts, etc...

Okay, I'll bite--once anyway.

Say parking for an event at your local concert/sports venue costs $10-$15. However, there is an establishment (hotel, restaurant, whatever) nearby that doesn't charge for parking. Do you park there for free--not patronizing their business--and stiff the proprietors and inconvenience their paying customers? Isn't this issue virtually the same thing?

Perhaps this question is asked here and not 'heard of' anywhere else because Disney is gi-normous and has forums dedicated to it.

I don't see why that would be necessary or even considered nice manners. You are eating at a restaurant at the resort, you park in an open space.

Just following the previous threads, I would pay the $15 and park at the stadium. My question then becomes do I bypass available parking spots and park further away as let's say I only have "lawn" tickets; and the closer spots should be for people with box seats? That is where the confusion comes in.

Just for fun go to the Disney website and price a vacation with no coupons for three adults, 14 days, GF suite CL. Make sure you add park hoppers, water parks and deluxe dining. I know 30k might shock some but that is the going rate.

I only put the price of our vacation as most people use the mantra "I paid bigh bucks and should be able to park close to the hotel."

Actually, for most people it's "I paid to stay at this hotel and you didn't I should be able to park in the lot PERIOD."

Also, most people are in agreement that people can park there to eat and whatnot, the arguments start when you talk about people using the parking lots, staying all day, and not visiting the hotel.

And if you're telling the truth about your vacations, you obviously do support separating people by money spent considering they don't let all guests in the CL lounges ;). I doubt you'd be too pleased if everyone used the GF pool as well simply because they paid to stay somewhere on property, would you? (Or maybe this is where you say your family doesn't swim?)

Even with the platinum package it's not 30K. And if all you want is Deluxe dining...it's a few thousand less the 20K. 30K is certainly not the going rate...unless you have no idea how to book a trip, even then it would be hard. But this also begs the question...if there is almost always a deal offered by Disney, why would one choose to not take it?

Please read the thread. The question is where to park.

If you're parking where it is clearly intended for you to park, then I have no issues.

I can't speak to the internal priorities of the "free" lots and where to park there. I know if I had legitimate business there, then I would park either where I was told to park by attendants, or as close as possible, in that order.

Walt must be spinning in his grave.

Just for fun I did a quick search for out typical stay. July 17-30, three people, 2 bedroom suite CL. Tickets and food - $36,518.64. Which to be honest is higher than previous years.

You are welcome to use the same criteria and come back and tell us your price.

Yea that is what I thought. Just checking what others did/are doing.

Agin why do you choose not to use the discounts? Makes no sense. There has beena discount at that time of year for as long as I was going to WDW. So for you to choose to pay more makes no sense. Either you are stupid, or you are lying.

I don't think we are stupid.:confused3 We just go when we want to go and try not to time deals/offers. I'm not really understanding the attack on our finances. This thread is just about where to park.

This is obviously meant to entice a certain other extremely active DIS member w/ a similar sounding screen name to comment on parking at resorts.

And based on one of last week's parking threads - not too hard to figure out who the OP "really" is.

Like a hidden mickey - it's there is you know where to look.

Wow calling someone stupid or a liar is uncalled for. :hippie:

I'm not sure who I "really" am nor am I trying to entice someone. But if you must ask CR Resort Fan and Bicker very clearly stated close parking spots are reserved for guests only staying at the hotel. They are both Sr. members of this website so a lot of people take them at face value.

This seems odd to me so I posted a discussion to see what others are doing regarding parking distance. This is a forum right?
